Good Day Don, I am an ex COC friend, I have come to a different understanding many years back. 40 to be more specific, I just recently have learned I have preterist views. While I do seem to be inline with this idea, never have I associated with a specific group claiming this title. I've come to the idea from the prophets especially Isaiah that Jesus Good News was about a Kingdom and the abomination of desolation of the Kingdom that was physical Israelites. Being said, now my issue is a word we have translated in our scriptures called church, I find the word Ek-klesia causing all kinds of havok. Meaning this from my studies, all ek-klesia means is "called out" Ive concluded for Israelites it was called out of the physical Kingdom God used as our schoolmaster, Israelites, to show us our inability to be governing authority over one another. The word seems to be being interpreted to what one believes the called out to be. I understand myself we are called out of the Kingdoms of the Tribes, Nations, Tongues, Peoples into Gods Kingdom. Another words Gods law is written on our hearts and minds and any physical kingdom thats not in violation of our kings laws are fine. But when any of them give me permission to take human life for their agendas or do any of the writings declared in the laws of Love, saying its a God given responsibility to uphold the systems contrary to my citizenship in Gods Kingdom would be inconsistent to Gods Kingdom that is of faith. I'm doing this on a phone so can't see all I'm texting here. Why does no one deal with this word being translated into an institution we have no prophesies about, no shadow showing us other then the Kingdom alone. Why doesn't this idea of church get recognized as a different gospel then the Kingdom That the prophets declared all the way tell John. Then, of course Jesus himself. Not a great format to be reaching out. Jesus plainly shared what the gospel was and what was needing repenting from was the physical kingdom of Israel, the other Kingdoms we are taught in Deuteronomy 32 already were established based on the sons of God, heavenly deity when God took his inheritance, jacob. So the Good news is Gods Kingdom was and is going to be of faith not these physical ones. I was a conscientious objector at 23 years old once I learned my Kings rule was mine, i couldnt learn war no more. Isaiah 21:ff and Micah 4:1-4 Not very many share my understanding if any . That makes life hard at times for sure, patriotism is difficult to show isn't how our Gods kingdoms citizens operate. Seems why Nicodemus struggled with Jesus. Would love to hear your understanding. Just short brief note, I see ek-klesia as called out of Kingdoms of the prince of this world, repentance is changing our minds about what Kingdom one will submit to. So different then religious folk of our world. Hope this finds you in a similar mind set, but not expecting any surprises.
