Everyone has a different tolerance for dark humour. That being said - most of the people who aim their jokes in the direction you are describing don't think about it deeper than "I saw this funny meme with goofy sound" and can't process the real events that took place. I think they view it on the same level as a movie or game scene. I understand your decisions to moderate these.
You can see they were inspired by Subnautica a LOT with this set. the main sub reminds me a lot of the Cyclops, just massively downscaled, like the overall shape, the rotor configs, the cockpit. the mech also kinda reminds me of the prawn suit a tiny bit, though that has a full body cockpit, not one like the mech in this set. I do think it's silly the sub can't hold all 6 minifigures, but it still looks cool.
you'd need a MASSIVE surface support vessel for this to be operated as as submersible. For that reason I prefer to think of it as a standalone submarine that was not intended to be carried by another vessel. Although I'm sure we will see some massive epic MOCs from folks who like deep sea builds capable of carrying this submarine/submersible :)
I can't help myself, but I love these exploration themed sets! Arctic, space, deep sea - these have adventure, technology, mystery - what else could you possibly want? This set has the charisma of the old diving theme sets, like 6442, but looks well modernized. Great choice for a review! 👍
Lego should have included a different part of the sunken ship with each of these sets. That would make the price more reasonable and it would give us an incentive to collect all of these sets.
I feel like the part budget could have gone towards that instead of the boat side build but Lego seem to have a Company mandate that if there is a vehicle the must be a terrain build
This set is eerily close to a subnautica vehicle collection. The sub looks like the cyclops and the mech looks like a prawn suit. Not to mention the rockwork/flora looking very alien.
Looking at this makes me think back to the Coast Guard sets from when I was a kid, and man are these newer City sets so much more detailed. You can tell LEGO was still recovering from their early 2000s shakeup when I was growing up. City’s not my theme anymore, but looking at a lot of the newer stuff is incredible. I’ll always be nostalgic for the late 2000s early 2010s City, but kids today have a great spin on the theme. Keep up the excellent reviews Jang!
Jang's underwater section of his Lego room really inspired me to try something similar one day. What will eventually be my own dedicated Lego room is nearly ready to start being used (just need to finish the paint and carpeting). I've collected up a number of moon crater plates, still have my 'Neptune Discovery Lab' that's been sitting in a moving box for 25 years and have been actively collecting up underwater and exploration ships/sets for some time now. Can't wait to start putting some scenes together!
If this was a Star Wars set it'd only include the Sub + Mech, minus two minifigs. The Deep Sea subtheme looks like a good value line this year with great sets.
omg finally, I've been waiting on this review since first images of the set were leaked. Great set and great review as always, keep it up, master Jang!
Those J-fish could be a LOT larger and still be to scale. This new line is just perfect. I'm a HUGE deep-sea exploration nerd and I can't wait to display this whole collection.
This set just FEELS like was inspired by Subnautica. I mean, just look at this massive sub, at the remotely operated thingy and on that mech. It looks too perfect
This set is neat! The vibrant colors! The sharks! Man I would have spent my savings for this as a kid! 😆 Thank you JANG and Team! Y'all Rock for putting out great content for us that live vicariously through your videos!
You're very welcome! There's no production team though; I do all of my own building, filming, editing, publishing, live streaming, everything, 7 days/week!
Now that's one Lego set I was really looking forward to see the review! I love it!! It's quite significant, lots a playvalue, amazing sub, amazing underwater terrain and the animals included are quite cool! Lego did a great job for this set, and the price is really not that bad, it's quite acceptable in fact, could have been a lot worse with today's economy. Thanks for the review, Jang!
Ngl, this actually looks like $110 worth of lego. First time I could say that in a long time. Im not a city collector, but if I was I would buy both the big sets - they are really solid.
It is probably worth noting though for those in the US that have access to a Costco as well as a membership, you can currently get this for $20 cheaper, which obviously doesn't change the MSRP, but is nevertheless a good thing to know if you do want it now but find the price a bit too steep
This set overall is so much larger than I expected it to be; it's a still a bit expensive but not too outrageously so that I can understand why it's priced where it is now that there's proper context seeing it built and having it in front of you. And there's quite a number of large pieces as well. It's not my thing and not likely something I'll go for but it's a lot cooler than the pictures show, which granted I didn't pay too much attention to. That sub looks so awesome too! About general pricing of sets, I only recently learned through comments on a review on brickset when I mentioned Technic isn't that popular in the UK outside of hefty discounts, that almost all Technic sets above $100 in the US is sold through Lego only. So you're not wrong to review and judge sets at full price as not everywhere is as lucky or privileged. And we have to beat about the prices, even if it's repetitive in of itself, especially as we're getting more sets that are really expensive while lacking in size like the Peter Pan and Wendy's Flight Over London set. That's smaller and more expensive than the Up House in some countries too.
I used to obsess over the older "Divers" theme (1997) when I was a kid, and this ticks that nostalgia box for me. I love ocean exploration, real or fictional, and this looks like a nice combination of both. Thanks for the review, Jang!
I always wondered why LEGO give sharks angry eyes? Thank you for your hard work JANG. My jam is LEGO Star Wars and Harry Potter, but I always love city reviews. It's a shame that LEGO is so expensive, otherwise I'd love some city sets. Very relaxing videos JANG.
Jang, thanks for opening my eyes about prices in other countries. Here in Slovakia, we are one of those privileged countries where we usually have a 20% discount on the day of launch, and after a few months you can find a 30% discount on many sets. A few sets are exclusive to the Lego store, and there it always hurts when I have to buy a set at full price.
Yep, here stateside, we often have to wait months to find even a 10% discount and it’s got to have been out for at least six (or about to retire) before we see any better than that.
This one looks much more realistic and much higher quality than some of the recent subs. The claws themselves aren't very realistic, but they are pretty cool could be used for other things.
I love the clarity of this guy, I just found this channel and I loved it, great reviews, with no lies, and it's true, Lego is expensive, and being a Lego fan here in Brazil is a challenge, some set go higher than 1 thousand reais, obviously I can't afford these sets but I keep getting the small ones that are about 150 reais, it's insane
I'm a massive sucker for submersibles ever since the deepsea theme lego had in the 90s. I got quite a few of those themed sets so this is another great addition to the sub fleet. Though it does break with the otherwise consistent yellow sub color. And it isn't all that bad. Especially if you put it next to the big ship. The color schemes being the same. I imagine it just goes into port alongside the bigger vessel. I would love to see more of this theme, perhaps a smaller more modest ship and perhaps a sub half this size.
Loved the fact that there were so little stickers, a great build. My only nitpick was that the Nightmare King was actually unable to sit or stand at the helm, the cape would get in the way!
What a great video. I like your style. I agree, I think the mech needs more love in terms of articulation and also perhaps an upgrade for hands/claws to grab things.
Jang really is a cut above the rest. “We’re doing a big deep sea set review. Better make my background at the beginning make it look like im underwater.”🤣😊
Was never interested in city sets but saw your review and looks so cool! Went out and bought today for £75 definitely worth it, can't wait to display it. Love your reviews! 👍
The radio tower frames along the bottom are a nice touch, I think. Very evocative of real exploration submarines. All in all this series is giving me strong Subnautica vibes.
I'd feel better at 80 but honestly that's probably just because I'm old and used to cheaper prices in general. The set is gorgeous and i absolutely love the colors.
I managed to get it for like 90 on Amazon. Granted, I had to wait a year, but it did eventually drop to a fairly reasonable price. The one thing I felt the sub could have used (and which I am adding) is a small sail. Even little exploration submersibles still have these in a lot of cases, and while it is an extra 'waste' of like 10 parts, I think I might have happily traded a bit of the rock formation for one.
Awesome set I think there should have been more interior in the submarine though I wish the US always got awesome sales right away Costco does have this set for $90
Ima be honest my first thought when I saw this was how those claws could be used. Powerminers were known for having their “tools” (buckets, drills and mining tools) in orange, and here we have new recolours for those claws in orange.
Im normally a Lego star wars only (maybe some other things like the bonsai tree) but this is tempting me, this and the arctic boat. I love the sea and things, despite being scared of diving and having sea sickness lol!
Excellent point; well-made. Great work, Jang! Even with deep discounts in some regions, LEGO is a privilege, not a right; most folk can't afford big sets. Be thankful if you can 👍
A HUNDRED AND TEN BUCKS? I lived in the days when the bigger city sets were at MOST 80 or so dollars. Cool set though and I understand 80 bucks back then is probably worth near the current prices today. Great video Jang it’s been a very long time since I’ve been into your videos and I mainly watch them for the nostalgia. Thanks for doing what you do
The most unrealistic part of this set is not even the mech : it’s the Great White hiding in a cave. Sharks die when they don’t swim, so the poor killer fish would probably drown before any explorer comes by.
I kind of wish that the underground terrain bit would be a lot smaller, and the pieces were used on the submarine itself. That would allow for a larger sub with more interior space.
This is a great set! It has so much fun things. I have a friend quite knowledgeable in marine biology, so she definitely would love a set like this, especially for the sharks. Although, I think it could have been divided into 2 sets rather than being a huge one. Central and South America have it rough when talking about LEGO. In my country (Costa Rica), expect not only prices being at least double the said ones in these videos, but actually coming late to stores after their releases :/ When I was in Japan, I became so surprised LEGO there was waaaay cheaper, and I ended buying more sets than I initially thought adquiring. However, LEGO discounts here are more or less common, so you can buy sets with good offers, normally between 20 and 40% of discount. It's rare to find a set with 50% of discount (it's usually only when buying a second set) or even higher. So, yeah, I'm with you, Jang: if you can obtain LEGO for even cheaper prices than said in these videos, feel fortunate.
Idk who's commenting about those massive discounts you mentioned, but I live in the euro zone and I've never seen those... Honeslty, from my pov, the US is better of since their base prices are lower in general, even with tax and everything
I totally agree with you full stop regarding the prices etc… As long as Lego feel that the public support their price points they will continue to do this…. Your point is exactly the correct one. Without recognition or without media calling them out we will continue to suffer. Yes people can get cheap prices at some point, at some cost or loss but not everyone does and why should we wait for two years until Lego decides they dont want it
Handsome set. It's too bad it isn't designed to better integrate with the Arctic Explorer, given their matching color schemes. I was wondering if the shipwreck builds from each set might fit together too-- seems like a missed opportunity there if they don't.

Not a surprise people would say stuff related to it.
That Sub and mech are giving off a Subnuatica vibe
Welcome aboard, captain. All systems online.
This set gives me huge Subnautica vibes, with the color scheme of the subs.
I was thinking the same thing, it's very reminiscent of the Cyclops
Detecting multiple leviathan-class life forms in the region, are you sure whatever you’re doing is worth it?
I know! I haven’t heard anyone say this too, which is sad. Seems like the designer played a lot of Subnautica before making this.
you'd need a MASSIVE surface support vessel for this to be operated as as submersible. For that reason I prefer to think of it as a standalone submarine that was not intended to be carried by another vessel. I love when a mechanism like the grabber claws up front are done so well it feels like magic. Like it works too well for what it is and how it looks!
It’s disappointing that despite the sub’s size there is no airlock compartment for the divers
I feel like the part budget could have gone towards that instead of the boat side build but Lego seem to have a Company mandate that if there is a vehicle the must be a terrain build
This strongly reminds me of the Divers Lego sets from when I was a kid. I think the terrain feature really makes this set worthwhile as a play set.
This set is eerily close to a subnautica vehicle collection. The sub looks like the cyclops and the mech looks like a prawn suit. Not to mention the rockwork/flora looking very alien.

Jang is funny: "You can grab all sorts of stuff with this claw:
A SHARK
A PERSON
...
Maybe some cargo."

Its nice to see tye nexo knights helmet returning for the divers

Everybody gangsta 'till the reaper leviathan shows up
This set just FEELS like was inspired by Subnautica. I mean, just look at this massive sub, at the remotely operated thingy and on that mech. It looks too perfect
Is there a radio inside the sub playing the James Cameron music?
Cool set. Love the terrain with the Sharks and Jellyfish. The sub itself reminds me of a Mantis Shrimp
So glad their bringing back the arctic sets alongside underwater explorations that finally aren't yellow
This set is neat! The vibrant colors! The sharks! Man I would have spent my savings for this as a kid! 😆 Thank you JANG and Team! Y'all Rock for putting out great content for us that live vicariously through your videos!

that shark is 100% gonna be in the Lego Ideas Jaws set, I guarantee it
Now that's one Lego set I was really looking forward to see the review! I love it!! genuinely love the large shark in this set 😮 need him to show up in more sets
I love it, it is like the cyclops and prawn suit from subnatica!
The shark shipwreck side build for this looks so cool! I’d definitely buy that as a stand alone set!
It is probably worth noting though for those in the US that have access to a Costco as well as a membership, you can currently get this for $20 cheaper, which obviously doesn't change the MSRP, but is nevertheless a good thing to know if you do want it now but find the price a bit too steep
I feel like it would be better if it was a custom theme and not just city.
This thing looks great. Much higher build design quality than Atlantis
Arctic has been a subtheme of town/city as far back as the year 2000
This set overall is so much larger than I expected it to be; it's a still a bit expensive but not too outrageously so that I can understand why it's priced where it is now that there's proper context seeing it built and having it in front of you. this particular selection of vehicles makes me think the designer was really into playing subnautica.

I honestly don't know where everyone gets these day one discounts. I live in the euro zone and rarelyy see discounts at all, and never day one...
The jellyfishs are pretty cool, great colors that pops well. Thanks for the review 😊
That sub looks incredible. And huge. Like wow, that’s really surprising to me. I wasn’t anticipating liking it this much
The double-molded diving helmet reminds me of the helmet of a Fallout Power Armor suit! Hope we get one in grey!

Nice to see the danger lines in yellow again - hope that makes it affordable for Rock Raiders fans
Awesome set. Great review, Jang! I see a great playability factor to all city sets and i love it!
Continues to be my favorite Lego reviewer. Thanks Jang!
Always a huge fan of the deep sea sets... definitely adding this to the collection!
I looked it up, the big black propeller appeared in black in only one set before, Monkie Kid’s Team Dronecopter from 2021
Loved the fact that there were so little stickers, a great build. My only nitpick was that the Nightmare King was actually unable to sit or stand at the helm, the cape would get in the way!
I love the color scheme. Blue, orange and white are underrated together.
Man if it was just the shipwreck I'd happily buy this
What a great video. I like your style.
I agree, I think the mech needs more love in terms of articulation and also perhaps an upgrade for hands/claws to grab things.
What a fun and creative set. The hidden shark is a nice touch.
That deep sea helmet with the flashlights would be great for a fallout moc ;)
The radio tower frames along the bottom are a nice touch, I think. Very evocative of real exploration submarines. All in all this series is giving me strong Subnautica vibes.
What a great set, that whole sea exploration series is amazing!
Didn’t really realise the size of the sub until you put it on the ship!
Love how you do your reviews I think There perfect keep up the great work
I'd feel better at 80 but honestly that's probably just because I'm old and used to cheaper prices in general. The set is gorgeous and i absolutely love the colors.
It reminds me of a cyclops from the game Subnautica!
Its not a "Great White" shark. Its a Great Light Grey shark...a lesser known subspecies due to budget constraints in the deep sea
Great light-bluish grey shark 😜
Another perfect and enjoyable review. Thanks Jang!
Honestly this looks a lot like it's straight out of subnautica, the mech, the rov, just the whole thing, I love it
My favorite part of this set is how much playability there is!
I Had to look the part up, but I really like the Orange Wedge 10 x 2 x 2 curved pieces on the sub. They work great for making R-Type space ships.
always love your reviews
I managed to get it for like 90 on Amazon. Granted, I had to wait a year, but it did eventually drop to a fairly reasonable price.

Excellent review, thank you. When/where are these day one sales? I don't think I've ever seen them.
Awesome set
I think there should have been more interior in the submarine though
I wish the US always got awesome sales right away
Costco does have this set for $90
Ima be honest my first thought when I saw this was how those claws could be used. Powerminers were known for having their “tools” (buckets, drills and mining tools) in orange, and here we have new recolours for those claws in orange.
Wow, this set is a pleasant surprise. Really cool.
13:07 Things were so much better before the panini hit 😔
I might only buy the shark and jellyfish but, let's see. I know that the Orca is the main thing from the big boat set I want.
Same, I’m hoping they pop up on Bricks and Pieces soon 🤞🏽
Patience is the key to getting a good deal. Jang you are right. We need to know the RRP for true price comparisons. Cheers mate.
Im normally a Lego star wars only (maybe some other things like the bonsai tree) but this is tempting me, this and the arctic boat. I love the sea and things, despite being scared of diving and having sea sickness lol!
I think this is a super cool set! I imagine that if I had this when I was a kid I would have loved it.
Excellent point; well-made. Great work, Jang! Even with deep discounts in some regions, LEGO is a privilege, not a right; most folk can't afford big sets. Be thankful if you can 👍
Awesome video, and you are right. In South America, we pay double or triple the price. It's important that you give your opinion on the MSRP.
The interior of this looks really nice, would’ve been cool if they included a screen in it that shows the outside
I think it’s at Costco on sale for $80 right now
A HUNDRED AND TEN BUCKS? I lived in the days when the bigger city sets were at MOST 80 or so dollars. Cool set though and I understand 80 bucks back then is probably worth near the current prices today. Great video Jang it’s been a very long time since I’ve been into your videos and I mainly watch them for the nostalgia. Thanks for doing what you do
It would look great with the Atlantis colors scheme.
Thank you for this review. Much enjoyed your thoughts.
I wish the rubber bands on the arms were orange to blend in. The tan really stands out.
Sub and shipwreck is one of my favorite lego set recipes. I don’t know if I’ll go for this one because its so very extremely deluxe but I’m tempted
The most unrealistic part of this set is not even the mech : it’s the Great White hiding in a cave. Sharks die when they don’t swim, so the poor killer fish would probably drown before any explorer comes by.

This is genuinely a very good looking Lego set
How neat it reminds me of subnautica
lol the little drone looks like a minikit version of the sub
I really like the jellyfish on this set. 😊
Wow, they knocked this one out of the park honestly, it looks amazing
This is a must have for me!
I totally agree with you full stop regarding the prices etc…
