    This is one of my favorite Beatles songs. When it was released, I had no idea it was about the civil rights movement. Paul is good at writing songs with several layers of meaning. I would sing it aloud to myself when I suffered great pain. It is truly a music classic, not just a Beatles classic.

    • @janicehussock7735
      @janicehussock7735 8 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      The civil rights movement was active in the United States. They were interested in American politics and history but felt the need not to say things bc they were British. "Bird" is British slang for a young girl or woman. An attractive one. They eventually did make public declarations concerning Vietnam. Bc they were from Liverpool, they were exposed to much American black music. Unlike other pop performers of the time, they freely admitted they admired the music and named specific performers. They just said they adapted it with great respect. Paul and John would always suggest to fans that they check out the original recordings. I expect Bob Dylan was a major influence. You make the song timeless by not wedding it to a specific incident. I recall when the album was released. Paul did not talk about it then.

      When they were touring, they were given a week off to write an entire album!! I heard an interview in which Paul said that each and every time that he and John sat down to write, they wrote a song! I loved their songs that each one was different from the others. Most group’s start sounding a like after a while. Not the Beatles! What a bunch of musical geniuses!

      They're cover versions. Each person brings something slightly different to a song. I'm not a massive fan of the way he does it here, it's all personal preference. One thing is for sure, it's been done by better singers. I'd say many people are perfectly capable of making 'musical sense' out of it, and have.

    Understanding this is Paul's empathy, while in Scotland reading about racial segregation and racism in Little Rock all the way back then... which JUST happened. He wrote this in the hopes people who were oppressed via racism in America might hear this and be inspired to have a little hope. Like Strange Fruit, this isn't just an important and profound song about civil rights, it's beautiful.

    I love this song! I love The Beatles! Each man I adored especially. 4 days after my 12th birthday, we lost John. Such a painful day. My heart warms when I listen to this song and many others by The Beatles. This song was also on "the white album" in the year of my birth. Love, Love, Love Blackbird! Thanks for sharing!

    This is a truly heart warming and soul touching song. It's a shame I had to first hear it under the grimmest of circumstances. I was reading a story about a man who lost both his wife and his newborn child, and the man sung this song to his child before he died.♥

    This song was designed for to teach guitar players how to crawl before they could fly. Once you play it for yourself you can feel it.
    Also Paul's playing is genius, even if he doesn't hit every note 100% perfectly (maybe that was intentional too). He adds custom vibrato here that's really to be appreciated

      Es el mas rico por dos motivos, que se lo merece y que se lo ha ganado.
      Y yo me alegro de que sea asi. Ojalá siempre se cumpliesen esos dos requisitos para llegar a lo mas alto.
      Y que ademas todos pudiesemos disfrutar del resultado de ese talento y ese trabajo.
