I know why Mario's new wave isn't glitched. It's because the app just added the new stuff to his files, its like if you put a penny in a jar of nickels, the penny won't change because it isn't a nickle (The new update files wont be corrupted as they aren't from the prototype app) I hope that explains it to you curious guys.

Mario in the thumbnail looks like he’s had some baaaaad shrooms.
For anyone having this issue and wants to resolve it, make sure you FACTORY RESET it from the app, this is the best way to do it and has almost no chance at harming your mario :)

I had the same problem with mine, it was doing the same thing as yours. I just restarted the update and it fixed it.
I hope he gets better soon but he’s having a good time so that’s okay

If you want to repair it, press the two buttons at the same time until it turns off and when you turn it on it will return to normal
