This is a good example of how the acoustic guitar can be done correctly at the Mass and does have a home there, particularly with the way you chanted the Gloria, great voice! Thanks!
You are a very good singer and musician! We've just started using this Mass setting and have been introducing the various parts to our congregation over the last 3 weeks. Today we introduced the last (and longest) piece which was the Gloria and it was received very well. We are a group of 5 vocalists and 4 musicians and do most of the pieces in the parts written. We hope to have the whole conjuration fully familiar and participating before Christmas in 6 weeks. Thank you for this and your other recordings. They help immensely :) PS Prior to this we were doing the Mass of Glory by Bob Hurd and Ken Canedo and it was very well received as well. Quite a different tempo, but we are expanding our repertoire and might eventually rotate according to liturgical season.
Sounds like you're doing exactly what I do. In my neck of the woods (Portland), Mass of Renewal is the primary setting used in most churches around here. It's still our go-to....and the one I use for weddings and funerals because the most people know it. Oddly enough, just today we started a new mass setting with our assembly, Ricky Manalo's Mass of Spirit and Grace. I think that one, and the mass of Renewal, are the ones that work best with different kinds of instrumentation.....traditional piano/organ/choral parts, or contemporary with guitar and other instruments. I'm lucky enough to consider Ken Canedo a friend and I get to do music with him sometimes out here in Portland (he's at a neighboring church). I've used that Mass of Glory as well....it's fun to sing and my congregation likes it, but my complaints would be that it just ends up being too long (since it's strophic....verse/chorus.....not through composed like Renewal is). I also don't feel like it's "dignified" enough for more solemn occasions like when you sing the Gloria on Holy Thursday. Anyhow, I'd always be willing to chat with you about this kind of stuff. You can e-mail me at csbrunelle@msn.com
Well honestly at this point I have THIS Gloria memorized. But generally when I record my videos there’s music on a stand directly below the camera, so it looks liken I’m looking at the camera but I’m reading the music
I so appreciate your work. I practice every week with you here! Thank you!
You’re welcome!! God bless you
