    if your a new diver go to sharm as quickly as you can it is paradise iam a padi card holder and i wish id done it wen in my teens my fav site in sharm for me was jackson reef it was magical there was about ten of us diving and a big ten foot whitetipp went by it was breath taking just to see this huge preditor just swim by and take a look at us

    6 & 7 are spot on. I much prefer 40 feet on top of a reef where the light is still good for pix and there is an abundance of life. Taken some of my best pictures at that depth. And my current dive group consists of 3 women and me. All first class divers with one in particular who I think has gills. I'll come back with 500psi and she comes back with 1500!

    • @joerodi6769
      @joerodi6769 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, im an instructor with padi! in order to get your open water certification, you'll be required to complete 5 confined water dives (basically pool, or pool-like conditions) and 4 open water dives. this typically takes 4 days total depending on how your dive centre organizes them, but being 13 years old, you will obtain a junior open water certification. this will allow you to dive just like any other open water diver, the exception being that you must dive with an adult who is a certified open water diver

    I agree that scuba diving is a safe activity or sport (not sure if it is because I heard someone said it isn't for some reasons I cannot remember). I know you cannot guarantee that even if a diver follow every protocol, they (for all gender) will be fine 100% because people can get bent, but in my personal opinion, I like the idea of getting into the deeper ocean prepared than getting in unprepared but stays at the shallow. I personally like scuba diving more than snorkeling because with scuba diving, the activity made me (or rather forced me) to take at least a course before they allow me to jump in with the gear, with snorkeling -- my first time suck because I didn't know what to do and there may or may not have a brief instruction from the local guide on the boat but the wind was too loud to hear. I jumped in anyway and breathed in some water through snorkel tube. The event happened before I joined scuba diving so at that time the only advantage I had was me and my strong enough swimming skill so I could safely reached the boat. The lesson I learned were never missed the brief instruction of each location either snorkeling or diving and never jumped in blindly without knowing anything.

      Scuba diving is /not/ a safe activity. It's all about managed risk, and the risks are severe.

    Scuba diving is fairly comparable price wise to golf, skiing, or what you'd spend on a good set of fishing tackle. It doesn't need to be purchased all at once and you can rent most of what you don't have.

    It may be an expensive hobby, but once you have your own tank, you just have to maintain your gear and pay for refills, and the yearly VIP. You take care of your gear, it takes care of you. That being said, I would rather spend the money on scuba diving than spend 10 large on a giant scale rc plane that's gonna crash into pieces

      i was Nase/naui certified for open water in Florida and it wasn't an issue using it in Asia and then doing the advanced course with PADI so you should be fine

    • @dom8151
      @dom8151 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      PADI don't need to accept it - they are just as legit as NAUI are. PADI dive centres will accept the license in the same way a NAUI dive centre would accept a PADI license - it is proof of training, that's all - there are hundreds of different licenses - from YMCA to the Scouts. All are valid as long as the organisation is legit. I have worked for many years as a PADI instructor, and ran a PADI dive shop in Vietnam. So trust me you have nothing to worry about with NAUI at all :)

    I got every scuba diver carried pure Oxygen to breath in their tank. At my open water level, we use normal air. Many people think I can just fill my scuba tank with pure Oxygen at a hospital. While it is not that harmful misconception, it is annoyed that many people I met called my scuba tank an Oxygen tank.

    How long can you stay underwater??
    Should you dive with 2 tanks??

    • @calvin_yearsley
      @calvin_yearsley 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      arnold may II it depends on how large your tanks are. I recently got my Padi open water certificate and we dove with 15L tanks, which seems to be about right for a 2hour dive...also it really depends on how fast you consume the air. My father had next to nothing left at the end of the dive and I was still well off
      Edit: the tanks weren't filled completely, we had around 200bars in them before the dive

    While I agree that diving is safe, I believe it is false to say by just following the rules and watching your gauges you *WILL* be fine. I think that's true for most of us, but people do get bent occasionally even when they follow the rules. Even though it is unlikely, there is no guarantee that you won't get hurt

    i disagree a bit with myth n.4: i m italian but i suffer the cold with my 7 mm suit, in summer and in the beginning of fall too; when i m in a water with 30 degrees of temperature i feel way better... and when i finish my dive and outside is like 30 degrees with sun and no cold winds,i m ok. in other cases i m often at risk of colds,sinusitis,flu,cold back pain... and i m just 33,it happens to me only with cold or fresh water.... i know i should buy a drysuit...

      Back in 1967 to pass my open water we were in a boat went out to 25 ft of water
      Told to go to the bottom come back naked !
      Ditched the gear went back down put it on came back up
      Then a 3 mile swim to shore
      ( they must have been feeling sorry for us ?
      there was a 3 ft sea running
      If the water was calm it would have been a 5 mile swim for sure! )

    In 1999 my dive instructor was my female on my first dive in Mexico half the boat was female is diving gear expensive yeah expect to pay a couple of thousand dollars back in 1999 my mask fins snorkel and booties cost a little over two hundred bucks I spent about 600 on my regular a couple hundred on a good wetsuit which I have more than one and in different millimeters I spent a hundred bucks on a dive skin which I never even used that was a newbie mistake I don't remember how much I spent on my citizens dive computer watch but trust me it was freaking expensive but I've been doing it for like 18 years and a lot of my gear has been replaced first thing every place was my BC my power inflator failed after a year it was a cheap one to begin with I think it was Oceanic..... And yep I'm that dangerous diver that they warned you about I have gone past 120 ft quite a few times and push the dive tables to the breaking point luckily I've never had any consequences I have ruptured eardrums diving while having a head cold and I normally dive cold water vary cold water what nothing more than a 7 mil no dry suit in almost zero visibility
