Great job on a tough piece. I used to pull this chart out to challenge for a higher chair placement in school. It was tough even at the slower tempo I used then. I inherited this chart from my father, who played it in the 1950's.
Thanks. I have played it on the alto a while--now getting used to 3 flats instead of 1 sharp is taking a while to get up to speed--muscle memory and all :-)
The Conn NW that I play does great on the top end. Low B and Bb have a tendancy to burble if i am not careful with the embechure...I know I have a very smallish leak on the G# key---planning a strip and overhaul but waiting until I have time to do it from start to finish to minimize the down time
Hi Floor, have been enjoying listening to your work. I have a quick question for you: what mouthpiece(s) / setup(s) are you using? The reason I'm asking is that I have recently acquired basically the same horn as yours, Keilwerth CX90 Prestige, and it has tuned out to be quite mouthpiece-picky. Thank you in advance! - Zisl.
Hi Dmitri, thank you! I have a Buffet Crampon Prestige alto saxophone with in this video a super session selmer mouthpiece. I now play on a Vandoren Al4 mouthpiece. Good luck with your setup!
I made a puerile joke, "sheet" meaning "not good". OK besides my immature sense of humour I'd like to say this performance is really excellent. The tone of the sax is just great and the staccatto tonguing very impressive.
An interesting and little visited corner of the repertoire; or, as we say in English, completely bonkers! I like. But, can you play this whilst riding a unicycle and juggling three bananas? :)
I am overhauling it myself. I'll be adding metal resonator prestige pads. I love the horn, but they just aren't valuable enough to spend USD500-700 for an overhaul at a decent shop. Besides, I plan to spend extra time cleaning and hand polishing the silver that I doubt a shop would be willing to do in the same manner.
I'm gonna give you credit, you have a great sound and all, but this is different than any other recording I have ever heard. Usually it's faster and and speeds up as the piece progresses. New to me but it's still great.
Listened this at a concert n imeadieatly liked it you guys absoluetly nailed it👌
Gotta play this for my music exam tomorrow.. great song but very difficult to perfect. Great job
Congratulations! your sound is modern, but keeping the spirit of Rudy Wiedfoeft
Really superb. Very many thanks and keep up the good work ! Music and expertise like this will keep the world full of hope and happiness.
Thanks Graham!
Sounds really good!
Great job! I am currently working on Saxophobia on my '22 Conn C melody. Your alto presentation is awesome; love your tone and colour!
Beautiful song!!
I really like your show very musical !!
Great job on a tough piece.

My Dad used to play this song.

Thanks. I have played it on the alto a while--now getting used to 3 flats instead of 1 sharp is taking a while to get up to speed--muscle memory and all :-)
Mooi hoor!
我好喜歡你的表演非常有音樂性!!
+郭士誠 in english please? ;-)
I loved it! Where did you get both the sax and piano parts from. My daughter could play this next year.
thanks, yes i know about the contrabass video, it's in mij favourites :)
Are you playing on a Senzo? I have a Senzo! I love it!

Yes, you're right: imagine the dancing of the roaring twenties!

Floor Wittink Hi Floor, thanks so much for your reply! That helps.

Very nice. Where can I get the sheet music?
is that a buffet crampon?
looks like the prestige.

hi there; you're absolutely right about the tempo: next novelty is gonna be faster ;-)
Thanks! Good luck with your Conn C melody version!

Tina Fey plays the saxophone?
how do the Conn's handle the top high notes? I use a '20 York and Sons that plays beautiful until E & F.
This is hot in more ways than one.
Would you be able to send me the sheet music to this song ?
hoe heet dit stuk? en waar kan ik deze krijgen?
groeten
Hi floor :) your rock! :D
as long as its a good repairman then an overhaul would be the best bet, expensive, but good(mine ran me about $520)
