Thank you so much for the info! This was recommended to us as entry to Unity College, and I super appreciate the advice and insight. Keeping in mind that academic disagreements aren't equivalent to arguments, and need to be handled differently, is definitely vital information for me! As well as making sure to write with the intention of starting conversations, rather than proving comprehension. Thanks again!!

This video was suggested to me through Unity. After watching this video, I now understand that the discussion board is more then just a place to quickly respond but engage with my classmates, no matter their journey. I am going for environmental conservation and knowing how to respond and react to a post or reply in the discussion board will help me out in my profession. Thank you for making videos to get college students, like me, a better point of view on tasks that need to be done.

The video was suggested through Unity but after watching, I have realized how important it is to be present and engage in online discussion posts. I struggle a lot with being able to talk and be active in online discussions but with these tips, I hope to better myself and help others with the same struggles as me. I now know the importance of discussions boards and the purpose they hold. Thank you for helping me understand more clearly and how to improve my online discussions and how to engage with my peers better.

This video was extremely helpful. I'm also from unity online. And honestly I haven't really been in online classes except when I took my CNA class but we didn't have any discussion posts but since COVID hit it has made going to school away from school possible and I'm looking forward to using these tips and a few others to write threads of discussion pieces.

This has helped me understand more than I did before. Its been years since I was in school for my nursing degree, and I am not very good on navigating things on a computer. I'm just hoping I can get all of this.

Thank you for this! This video was actually listed in the learning materials for my first week of class. If others find it helpful, here are the notes I've taken on this video!
A basic relationship with your teacher can significantly boost your overall performance.
    1. Write in a text editor like Word. Double check with Grammarly!
    2. Be clear and earn lots of replies. You want to have an easy-to-read post that catches the eye of your fellow student, who’s skimming through the forum for a post to reply to. If you get 3+ replies, your post will stand out from the rest, and your professor will notice that.
    3. The more sources, the better. Use 1 - 2 more sources than the assignment requires. These can be material from the class, or external references. This will show your genuine commitment to the class. Also, it will help you tackle that subject from different angles and with more elaborated responses.
    4. Share your own unique perspective! Your opinion and point of view will make your post unique.
    5. Reply to your classmates. Carefully read what your classmates posted. If you want your responses to hold the same quality level that your initial post has, see how you can add value, and how your experiences and beliefs relate to what the other person thinks.
    6. If you want to save time looking for complex arguments to reply to, choose a classmate that thinks differently. Read the post, and when you find the other person’s opinion. Ask yourself, “Do I agree with this, or not?”, and “Why?”. Your answers to this question will be more than enough to start a reply where you add value to the discussion while proving to your professor how much you understand of the class.
    7. Do not make it personal or start an argument!

I did not LIKE TO or WANT TO participate in *Wayne County Community College District* student discussion boards. Usually, these discussion boards are the only way to pass the class with no other options. So, basically, i completed discussion boards at Wayne County Community College District to earn my degree. Not because discussion boards there are good to do. Wayne County Community College District discussion boards are never good to do.
