Why exactly are they brave to fly those airplanes? They are all well maintained, I don't think you need to be brave to fly the Electra or the Convair 580.
VMC Aviation Videos those planes are almost 50 y/o and probably exceeded the manufacturer airframe time for a while ,plus they were not designed to do this kind of job. The contraints on the wing spars are more important than in regular commercial operation.How many of those retired planes suffered inflight wings failures?this job is already dangerous
VMC Aviation Videos well , in a small country like France we have a quite modern fleet of cl-415 . Unfortunatly the production is stopped. If big countries like US and canada had the will to modernize there fleet , the production could be resumed or a new program started ...but they prefer to invest in new military programs...
@@lebaillidessavoies3889 The airframes actually fly at far less than their rated loads because they don't carry full fuel and the amount of water they carry is less than full passenger load + luggage - the firefighting duty cycle is more benign than a translatic trip. All the firefighting maneuvers are also 1g maneuvers. You seem to have inherent dislike of the United States and you're looking to blame something else on them.

Very few Air Tankers are are purposely designed to do that job and they would not fly If they exceeded the manufacturer airframe time.
