    I’ve been gone for a long time, but coming back to seeing a trailer like this, all that storage space, and everything the trailer is able to do, the products that texas pride will do for the trailers that people order, that looks like a really helpful trailers when It comes to the ramp, the extra storage on the sides, that’s something you don’t really see on a lot of trailers or non at all, and the time saving electric Jack in the front, it’s perfect for anybody who wants to tow mowers, tractors, or even hauling boxes or furniture, the 8thousand pounds is an advantage to anybody who hails anything big and that trailer just looks very cool with all the designing and things that Texas pride has done for it. Truly amazing.

    JD the only 2 things I would change would be a 16' instead of 14' and I would add a large spring on the side of the ramp like Gator Made does, they call it "Gate-R" Lift

    I would’ve had it made longer for a bush hog, heavier duty lift springs for gates plus make sure the boxes on the sides will hold 5 gallon plastic fuel cans or I would’ve had one side made with a fuel tank built in with a pump underneath the lid

    I would have made it ‘16 built just so you have a bit a wiggle room between two mowers. Great trailer and great design. I’d buy one right now if they were readily available.

      Agreed, a little longer would be better. My rule of thumb is, get one size bigger than you think you need, because something that requires it to be a little bigger always comes along...

    I agree with other comments that a little more length would be more comfortable. I think the biggest gripe with this though is the ramps are too heavy. I like that they are heavy duty but can the assist system be more helpful? I can see that they are hard to lift and then hold while putting the pins in and that's without working in the yard all day. It looks like the smaller ramp section could use some assist to unfold it when lowering. Why is the winch up high instead of near the deck? It seems like that makes it more in the way and may not be necessary. Love that is has more lights, tool storage and tie downs

    Trailer looks great. Lots of nice features but I believe one item is missing. The hitch pins for the ramps need a leash. Winch fairlead should be located a bit more forward so it is not stealing deck space. If I had the space, I would keep multiple trailers and keep one as a daily tow loaded or not. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.

      Better than just a leash, get spring loaded ones. They'll stay with the trailer, and only need to be nudged to pop closed while you're holding those heavy ramps up.

    if you drove the first mower in rather than backing it in, the wheels would be on either side of the winch and go further forward. The the second mowers front wheels would cradel around tyhe rear engine of the first.
    Another observation, after seeing the mower slide sideways trying to get up the ramp, you have two fixes to that issue. 1st is to use a couple 2x4's to block up the ramp, decreasing its angle. 2nd would be to have the ramps redone without the normal flat wire mesh, but the anti slip mesh. Thats the mesh that has small angles sticking up that the tires can grab onto. Also if your ever walking down the ramp when its wet (after it rains) you wont slip on the mesh and fall.

      I'd have gone a full 20', but I like owning only 1 trailer. I feel like this in 20 feet would be something I could own exclusively. I prefer rails too, I just have the boys at tractor supply and home depot unload the pallets onto the trailer 😅

    That's a very nice trailer, and I'm glad it fits your needs so well. How about lining the storage/tool boxes with a bed liner-type material, and mounting points for telescoping flood lights on the outside corners?

  • @tinkeringtrucker5196
    @tinkeringtrucker5196 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not a fan of the skinny side mount tool boxes, and drop down rear stabilizers or removable jacks would be better than the huge ramp knees hanging off the back. Given the axle location, they probably aren't even needed.

  • @jonhudson2176

    Since it is all metal deck. would have been nice to have chain slots in sides and center of deck.

  • @americanrambler4972
    @americanrambler4972 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice trailer. The deck should have been a foot longer however. Having to remove some attachments to reduce length to fit will get old quick. Just will not be as satisfying to use when it’s just just that much to short. That extra fussing around will get annoying down the road.

    On the next trailer JD I highly recommend you make that thing 20 or 22 feet long to accommodate any attachments hooked to the rear of that Bad Boy tractor. Other than that I think it’s the perfect trailer. On my current trailer even at 20 feet in length with the monster ramps on the rear I sometimes wish I had an extra 2 feet in length for big attachments such as a bush hog hooked to the rear of my John Deere.

    Love the design and thought put into the trailer. I do have one question though. Why did you have the axles put so far back? Was that by design or necessity due to the other features? Seems to me they are too far back but would like to know the reasoning.

    I own a Texas Pride trailer and it is probably one of the best trailers I've owned. Specific to your 14' low boy trailer, I like the design. However, you have not much space to carry implements for the tractor. Such as a box blade or bush hog mower. I generally need an 18' to 20'. I own 5 trailers I use on my small acreage. Good Video and Great trailer design.

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Trailers are like knives, having a bunch in different configurations is always helpful

  • @bill29456
    @bill29456 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Second "nit picking" post. the second (lower half) of the ramps need a handle on the side. especially when lowering the ramps it looks like you almost smash your hand holding it up before it contacts the ground. Like wise it needs a rubber buffer between the two ramps when in the vertical position. Its a law suit away from smashing your hand when being raised.
    Second big issue, you need a ballast box if your doing bucket work with your tractor. Ahh but your trailer is too short for a ballest box and a bucket. Most tractor trailers are a min of 16-20 foot deck lengths.

  • @95dodgev10
    @95dodgev10 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My only constructive criticism would be an improvement on the ramps assist or lighter ramps. My equipment trailer is rated for 14k gross and has been at max capacity atleast once. It seems like the guy is struggling much more to lift the ramps on your trailer than i do to lift my ramps. I read through comments and saw your explanation about the folding throwing it off some. I'm no engineer so im not going to say it should be improved a certain way. But i do think it needs to be better. Lawn mowing guys would hate lifting those up and down 50 times a day. Also most of them here in Illinois run 3k gvw trailers because you can pay a one time license plate sticker fee. Whereas that trailer would be a $250 or maybe more sticker every year. Hooray Illinois politics.
