I read that buddy press is very good for that but that it does not work very well with divi. What do you recommend so that I can create my own social network?
This is a really good video. I do have a question, though. At around the 6:56 mark of the video, when you post your update on the Activity feed, I am getting a "User Account not activated" message, even though when I did my first test case, I inputted the string of characters, and it apparently accepted that. Is there something I need to revisit or reset to get this to function correctly? I am using the "Customify" theme.
Thank you for this valuable video. It works! I had difficulties with the login and logout, but it works now. However, I don't see the menu/sidebar like you show in your video. Wpforo seems to become more popular and if you will make it, please say when you are working on a buddpress setting or wpforo setting so I know the difference between the 2.
Hello Thanks for your very clear explanation.:-) But I still have a couple of problems when I install the plugin buddypress. So it looks like there is something missing in my buddypress install. I do not know what I am doing wrong or still have to adjust to have these two pages made by buddypress ?? Hope you can help me out with this. Thanks Rob
Hi Rob, It's been three years and I highly doubt you will a) respond and b) need my information anymore :) But, seeing as you probably haven't slept right since that day, here's what probably went wrong: you installed the wrong theme for the menus problem, which might not support the menus or blogging functions. I had the same problem too but I just tinkered for a while. As for the first, I don't know either, but I hope this helps 😅😂
hi there, I do have a question when watching your buddypress video on the youtube. When I follow you steps to create the pages on my site, there is no buddypress components on my page. So could you please advise? thanks for your tutorial!
Hi Buddy, I assume things have changed for the menu feature in the new BP, I followed all the way through but no BuddyPress menu now in the drop downs any suggestions???
Hi James, Not much has changed yet. Can you check in the Screen Options to make sure the BuddyPress option is selected. Here's a tutorial on screen options in case it would be helpful: th-cam.com/video/JXvPKooVSF4/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I know this video is old, but had a question for you. Is it possible to assign accessibility to a normal WordPress Page, Post, or Media File based on Buddypress Groups (or some other accessibility right) of Buddypress? For example, create or update a Page, Post, or Media File so that only Users who have access to a Buddypress Group? -Thanks
Hi Kevin, I haven't tested this plugin yet, but it sounds like it may do exactly what you need: wordpress.org/plugins/groups/ I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Thank You, Bjorn, I am the Admin for a local HomeOwners' Association and I can see where this could be very useful to open up communication. Is there a way to put the big BuddyPress menu into a particular area so the website isn't overrun with menu items. I am thinking that a secondary menu placed on a particular page labeled "Forum" to have access to the BuddyPress Information? Does that make sense?
+John Boyd That does make sense. You'd probably be Anne to do that using a plugin like this one wordpress.org/plugins/conditional-menus/ I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure if that's what you need but it sounds like it
Hi Mate, you have explained very well on all features? I don't know why but I don't find list of all members in latest version? Can you tell me what should I do see members list? any specific change in backend?
Hi Hardik, There should never be a change that removes your members, so I'm not sure what happened. Have you check to see if there are multiple pages of members to look through?
hi Bjorn, i love your tutorials and i really learned from it, thank you. i am a newbie so bear with me. is there a way i can create a separate blog post page that is social network page...all in one website. thank you
I'm not 100% clear on what you're going for, but I may have some tutorials that can help clear things up. Can you watch these two tutorials let me know if they are doing what you need: th-cam.com/video/mgJ86YPRX0U/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Oc8jJ3wikv8/w-d-xo.html Thanks!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. Can you please advise how to create a forum that is NOT a part of the main menu? E.g. to appear on domain.com/forum ?
Hi, great work. About choosing theme for BuddyPress. I do not see the same filter from Wordpress.com. Basically, there is no such a filter. In Wordpress.com, after pressing "Themes" button. There is "Feature", and no mention about BuddyPress in any themes or menu. Do I need to do this in other website or? Thanks. Barry
Hi Barry, I've never really dug into WordPress.com so I'm not sure how to go about it. You may need the business plan to access more themes? This video is created on WordPress.org, so it's a little different then WordPress.com.
Really amazing explaibation, please add a part where you show how to insert images and attachments in feed, ive done it using rtMedia for WordPress, BuddyPress and bbPress plugin. please add this part for future viewers... Thank You So Much For Your Help.
He Bjorn, thanks for this tutorial. Great content! I want to use buddypress together with my membership site, build with Simple Press. I don't want my members to again have to sign up or have two different login's. How would you suggest to solve this? Thanks so much.
Great video! Question for you, do you know if you can add accolades to a user's profile? For example, let's say they completed a course on your website and you wanted to add it to their profile. Is that possible? Thank you!
Hi Gavin, Yes that's possible using a plugin like BadgeOS. Here's a tutorial for it: th-cam.com/video/k913tgqRWD4/w-d-xo.html In the tutorial, I also show how to integrate BadgeOS with Credly, which is not required for what you want to do. There are numerous plugins to integrate BadgeOS with learning management plugins, forum plugins, BBPress and more. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Question - Users / Role - I am only getting the 5 standard roles. How do I get the list for Moderator, etc like you have in the video? Do I need to add another plug-in? Currently using BuddyPress 2.9.3 with Vantage 1.7.3 Theme.
Thank you for this Bjorn, but do you know how to remove that sidebar? I'm so frustrated trying to figure out how to remove that top title bar and the side archive bar
Hello there Mr. Bjorn, great video you have here! May I ask if theres a way to change the add friends functionality instead I want something like twitter that only has follow system?
Hi John, You can do almost anything with WordPress and it's add-ons. They're all licensed GPL2 which means you can edit any of the source code as you see fit. I don't know of an easy way to change the friends functionality to follow functionality. I don't think there's an add-on for that, which means it will have to be custom coded. Google and StackOverflow are your best friends when it comes figuring this out. Sorry I can't be of more help.
I apologize if this is already been asked. but I was at the part of adding the menus and it doesn't show up. I assume there are certain themes to use. which one is best for buddy press
There are some themes are great for BuddyPress, but it should work with any theme. If you 're in the WordPress theme repository (Appearance > Themes > Add new) you can search of "BuddyPress" and the themes that show up should be somewhat better for BuddyPress. With your menus, are you adding them under Appearance > Menus and then they don't show up on the front-end of your website? I find that BuddyPress doesn't look great out-of the-box, if you want to improve it's appearance by A LOT, check out this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/69icRHgO3vM/w-d-xo.html
@wordpresstutorials is there anyway that I can place all the features of Buddy Press on one drop down menu on my home page for guests to access? I've been messing with the custom menu plug in, and I just am having a really difficult time figuring out how to set this up correctly. I'd appreciate some help with that, if you can give me a tip. Thank you!
I think what you're looking for is in this tutorial at around 2 minutes and 23 seconds: th-cam.com/video/L8vu-scEFro/w-d-xo.html You would create a main link that appears in the main navigation and then move all the Buddypress links under that. Let me know if that's what you meant.
Does Buddypress have the capability for each member to be able to write blog posts that other members can read/comment on? My main purpose to set up a membership site is basically for a social blogging site.
Two questions: First, is there a way to set up a more traditional web forum that is closer to threads, topics, and designated places for specific topics of discussion? I was told this is BuddyPress but I can't get that to work at all. Second, I am not able to remove my sales products widget from the social media portion of the site. Ideas? I'm trying to "Hide on checked pages" and selecting all social media pages, but won't remove. Ideas?
To make a traditional forum you'll need bbPress. I have a tutorial for it here: th-cam.com/video/BmtFh-pb7F8/w-d-xo.html What are you using to try to remove the sales widget (ie.where are the check boxes that aren't working coming from?)?
Hello my WP guider! Your videos always surpize me! Thank you very much and keep making tutorials! I have a problem which I can not find the solution. How can I make a registered user upload/create a post in a category that he can choose? Does buddypress do that? Do you have a video for that? How Can I make it? Thank you very much!
Do Buddypress forums allow in-line or '@' responses so it is clear which post you are responding to? Or is it just 'add to the bottom' like Google Groups? Also, when you log in, does it show you how many unread posts you have? Thank you for your help.
Do you have a tutorial on creating a custom login using CSS and also does the TOP WP admin BAR disappear for subscribers, or would I need CSS or plugin for that as well. I would like the admin to see TOP BAR but not subscribers. Thanks Bjorn, Herman!
Hi Luis, I think you may be using WordPress.com. On WordPress.org, which this tutorial is based on, new users don't have pay for any plan. Everything I showed you in this tutorial is completely free for the webmaster and for the users on WordPress.org.
I am sorry for not being specific. My bad. I was referring to "featured filter" while changing the buddypress theme. It is mentioned at 07:41 in the video.??????
Hi Paul, Sorry about the missing link to the bbpress, here it is: th-cam.com/video/BmtFh-pb7F8/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Hi Ryan, When you're on the Menu page can you try clicking on Screen Options in the top right corner of the page. There may be a checkbox for the Buddypress settings. Mine was on by default so I didn't think to mention that. Hopefully that fixes it!
I made a website and wanted to make it so that specific things appear in activity feeds, such as a new group and stories / articles, but I don't want topics and replies to appear in the feed. How do I go about doing that? I tried using the BuddyPress Activity Filter, but it appears to not work and will not register when I click save. Help!
Hi, do you have a video on subscriber using partial payments with points and money to purchase? Using buddypress and woocommerce. myCred didnt seem to support partial payment, so im not sure how to go about it. Thanks!
Hi, I'm starting up a website and have been trying out themes with Buddypress and thought that the new WP-twenty twenty theme would be nice, but it isn't... am I doing something wrong or is it just not made for it?
Great video with lots of fantastic content. I've been searching the plugins for something I want to add to my members profiles and that is a box that will allow them to accept donations for support of their page or cause but will also give me the opportunity to also create a bit of a money maker for me and the web site. I had seen where (can't remember where I had seen him) a fellow put together a premade site that had this function.
Thanks, great video!! Why is there not a cancel button on the create groups ? and Anyone know how the add one? My site is very group oriented and once step one is complete, the group appears in the group DB. I know they can be deleted by admin, but want the users to be able to change their mind. TIA for any help
I don't know of any plugin that adds that functionality. It's a bit of a risk giving random users the ability to delete groups, even it's just their own groups. That's probably why that functionality hasn't been added to Buddypress.
@@wplearninglab thanks, poorly worded on my part; anyway, i needed a cancel button that would cancel the process of starting a group as well as, delete it from the DB (which it gets added after step 1) so as to not over populate the DB. I think my helper solved the problem... thanks again!!
Hi Sandro, Yes, that's possible. You'll need a membership plugin to make it happen. You can use Paid Memberships Pro (free plugin with a full walkthrough that I created here: th-cam.com/video/Rw8Dergcspc/w-d-xo.html ). Then use this add-on (I don't have this one in the walkthrough, but it appears to do what you need): wordpress.org/plugins/pmpro-bbpress/ It integrates the Paid Memberships Pro plugin with bbPress, bbPress being the forum plugin for WordPress. In case you need a walkthrough of bbPress you can find it here: th-cam.com/video/BmtFh-pb7F8/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Greetings! On our WP website, we have a custom "sign-up" form that users must complete (that creates a wp account for our website) and is necessary to access some of the educational resources on our website. We have integrated this custom form with MailChimp, as well as with Salesforce via MySQL and Zapier. Is it possible to use Buddypress in a way that it easy and clear for users to tell the difference between where they go to the create account/login for accessing special resources on website from the registration and login to Buddypress? Our goal is to create an online forum/thought exchange for different follower groups, i.e., Alumni of our graduate programs, participants of our online Solutionary Micro-credential Program for teachers (sliding scale to free for access for all), and for other teachers who are working on implementing IHE's solutionary framework in their classrooms, and others. We want the two to be separate because through our custom 'sign-up' form, users are signing up for our enewsletter, blog, as well as downloading free resources. Is Buddypress the right plug-in for our set-up? Could we add something like "online forum communities" to our navigation/menu? Thanks for your input!
Hi, thanks for the great tutorial! I have come across one issue and that is when I go to themes, feature filters, there is no option for buddypress. Is it possible to type buddypress in the search panel instead?
Hi Christina, Yes, you can. Searching for buddypress is the way to go because it will pull all themes with references to buddypress and that should be themes that work with it. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Seems like BuddyPress is easy to setup, but difficult to style. What free theme would you recommend for BuddyPress that works with Elementor? I am using Astra atm. It doesn't have full support for BuddyPress.
Hi, thanks for your video. Very helpful. So after I create a test user and go to a new incognitio window to log in, after i do so it sends me to the wp-admin page for the test user not the site home page. how do i change this?
You can make this happen with a simple plugin: This one: wordpress.org/plugins/peters-login-redirect/ or this one: wordpress.org/plugins/bp-redirect-to-profile/ The second one hasn't been updated in while and it has a very specific function. The first plugin is more up-to-date and allows you to specify different types of redirects for different user roles. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I am working on creating a social media platform by buddypress, but I have a problem, how do I allow the customer to schedule his post, is there a WordPress plugin that schedules posts.
So I have noticed with the latest versions of WordPress and BuddyPress (as of Feb 28, 2021) the navigation links no longer work. I believe something has changed with the default URLs in BuddyPress becasue no data is ever entered in. So every page (except Logout and Login) actually work. There is no documentation that I could locate on how to correct this. I have looked at the status bar on my browser for the path the links are set to. On my local test server it is IPAddress/social/members/USERNAME/PAGE Yes my server is properly configured because every other website I test works without issue. This is only happening with BuddyPress. As an aside, this issue I am facing has nothing to do with the permalinks built into WordPress because I have changed them. Also when you do change a permalink you are suppose to update the hidden .htaccess with the code given (unless permissions are set to change it for you). I have to admit this is very annoying as I have already spent nearly 30 hours in the past couple of days trying to solve this issue. I have no idea what files in BP handle the URL paths, if I did I'd make the changes. In closing. RTFM or WTFV (watch the BLANK video) does NOT help whatsoever due to the fact that there is no topic in forums, configuration guides or TH-cam that talks about this very issue in detail.
I've done everything you said here, it all worked nicely, but my users have problem with activating site, after they click the link it redirects them to a an activate page saying" paste activation key" and the email they get is a link not a key. Isn't the link suppose to automatically activate the account
Hi Frank, The link should automatically activate the account. Or at least the email should have the activate key. Have you made sure that plugins, your theme and your WP Core files are up-to-date?
@@wplearninglab yes, I think it was a problem with the theme "kleo" it was redirecting or rather formatting the activation key. I installed another theme (buddy boss) and it worked perfectly
Hi Suraj, Can you give this tutorial a go and see if it's what you need: th-cam.com/video/E6O2iPLObgE/w-d-xo.html It's for removing the admin bar, which is I think is what you're referring to. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Wow Thanks its really helpful I have another question after installing bb when user are registering on my site it shows them an activation email has been sent but the user is getting no mail so can you tell me how to setup that so user can get activation mail after registering on my site with buddypress
Hi Suraj, Not receiving email is a common issue. The first thing I would do is have the users check junk/spam folders. If the email isn't in there, I would contact your hosting support staff to make sure the email function is turned on for your server. It isn't always on by default. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
So question, I have a news/media theme and don't want to change it for buddy press, so what are my options? And there are no icons for the different sections when you put it in like the top header menu. Do I need to make a seperate site and link my main site to it?
Good question and as (almost) always the answer is, "it depends"... It's difficult to know the right advice without knowing your exact situation, but in general, if BuddyPress is not working with your theme the fastest solution is to put it on a separate site or a subdomain. You've probably encountered many sites over the years that have different parts of their site on different subdomains. There are cases where the best solution is the customize the CSS of BuddyPress to make it work with your site. This takes a lot more time and a lot more skill, so it's not always the best option even though it's the best option. If that makes sense. Here's a tutorial on building a site on a sub-domain if you decide to that route: th-cam.com/video/ZfMgAAH9Jis/w-d-xo.html I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I do not see a way to upload a profile picture. I do not have that option. I can change my cover photo, but there is just gray space where the profile picture option should be. Any idea why this could be happening?
They do with this simple plugin: wordpress.org/plugins/simple-buddypress-profile-privacy/ I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

Hello
Thanks for your very clear explanation.:-)
But I still have a couple of problems when I install the plugin buddypress.
The first is:
After I have installed buddypress on a clean install of Wordpress, there is a problem with the confiuration of Pages.

Second is:
That I dont have any BuddyPress tab when adding menus, or can I choose that in the screen options, as you demonstrate in this video for the Login and Logout Menu.
So it looks like there is something missing in my buddypress install.
I do not know what I am doing wrong or still have to adjust to have these two pages made by buddypress ??
Hope you can help me out with this.

Hi Buddy, I assume things have changed for the menu feature in the new BP, I followed all the way through but no BuddyPress menu now in the drop downs any suggestions???
Hi James,
Not much has changed yet. Can you check in the Screen Options to make sure the BuddyPress option is selected. Here's a tutorial on screen options in case it would be helpful: th-cam.com/video/JXvPKooVSF4/w-d-xo.html
I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Even i m not able to see buddypress option in menu
This worked - Screen Options -> Buddy Press
Thanks for the tip Abhay and thanks for watching!
James Slater you need to be in menus> screen options, then find Buddypress. Screen options dependent on the page opened
Fantastic video! Great job man!
Thanks Rob and thanks for watching!
-Thanks
Hi Kevin,
I haven't tested this plugin yet, but it sounds like it may do exactly what you need: wordpress.org/plugins/groups/
I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions.
You'd probably be Anne to do that using a plugin like this one wordpress.org/plugins/conditional-menus/
I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not sure if that's what you need but it sounds like it
Hi Mate, you have explained very well on all features? I don't know why but I don't find list of all members in latest version? Can you tell me what should I do see members list? any specific change in backend?
Hi Hardik,
There should never be a change that removes your members, so I'm not sure what happened.
Can you watch these two tutorials let me know if they are doing what you need:
th-cam.com/video/mgJ86YPRX0U/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/Oc8jJ3wikv8/w-d-xo.html
Thanks!
Thanks. Barry
Hi Barry,
I've never really dug into WordPress.com so I'm not sure how to go about it. You may need the business plan to access more themes?
This video is created on WordPress.org, so it's a little different then WordPress.com.
Really amazing explaibation, please add a part where you show how to insert images and attachments in feed, ive done it using rtMedia for WordPress, BuddyPress and bbPress
plugin. please add this part for future viewers...
Thank you!
Hi Gavin,
Yes that's possible using a plugin like BadgeOS. Here's a tutorial for it: th-cam.com/video/k913tgqRWD4/w-d-xo.html
In the tutorial, I also show how to integrate BadgeOS with Credly, which is not required for what you want to do.
There are numerous plugins to integrate BadgeOS with learning management plugins, forum plugins, BBPress and more.
I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@@wplearninglab Amazing thank you!
Thank you the awesome tutorial. Is there a way to restrict what the user can post? Like if I dont want the user to upload videos?
Hello there Mr. Bjorn, great video you have here! May I ask if theres a way to change the add friends functionality instead I want something like twitter that only has follow system?
Hi John,
You can do almost anything with WordPress and it's add-ons.
Wow, wonderful.
One Question: Can we limit the time online for members? Like after half an hour they get logged out. Trying to make for kids 😄
Thank you!
I think what you're looking for is in this tutorial at around 2 minutes and 23 seconds: th-cam.com/video/L8vu-scEFro/w-d-xo.html
You would create a main link that appears in the main navigation and then move all the Buddypress links under that.
Let me know if that's what you meant.
Ok. Thanks! I will give that a try.
5:35 there is no BuddyPress option on the menu, nor any login/register option....as seen on screen
Go to Appearance → Menus. Open Screen Options from the top right corner. Make sure you have marked BuddyPress
Can I apply the filter even if I already have a theme? I only want to use in the buddypress section
Sorry for the delay in responding.
Yes, the filter should still work if you already have a theme. Are you having problems with it?
@@wplearninglab hi thanks for the reply. Yes when I apply the filter it changes the whole theme.
thanks man, really helped me in my assignment, great content!!
Thank you so much for creating such a amazing tutorial.
Does Buddypress have the capability for each member to be able to write blog posts that other members can read/comment on? My main purpose to set up a membership site is basically for a social blogging site.
Thank you for this tutorial, it helped me a lot.
Two questions:
First, is there a way to set up a more traditional web forum that is closer to threads, topics, and designated places for specific topics of discussion? I was told this is BuddyPress but I can't get that to work at all.
Second, I am not able to remove my sales products widget from the social media portion of the site. Ideas? I'm trying to "Hide on checked pages" and selecting all social media pages, but won't remove. Ideas?
To make a traditional forum you'll need bbPress. I have a tutorial for it here: th-cam.com/video/BmtFh-pb7F8/w-d-xo.html
What are you using to try to remove the sales widget (ie.where are the check boxes that aren't working coming from?)?
Hello my WP guider! Your videos always surpize me! Thank you very much and keep making tutorials! I have a problem which I can not find the solution. How can I make a registered user upload/create a post in a category that he can choose? Does buddypress do that? Do you have a video for that? How Can I make it? Thank you very much!
Do Buddypress forums allow in-line or '@' responses so it is clear which post you are responding to? Or is it just 'add to the bottom' like Google Groups? Also, when you log in, does it show you how many unread posts you have? Thank you for your help.
Great video my friend. Thank you.
Do you have a tutorial on creating a custom login using CSS and also does the TOP WP admin BAR disappear for subscribers, or would I need CSS or plugin for that as well. I would like the admin to see TOP BAR but not subscribers.
Thanks Bjorn, Herman!
Thanks. One question, Do the new users of the social group have to pay the business plan to wordpress in order to be part of?
Hi Luis,
I think you may be using WordPress.com.
Is there a way to charge for membership? I'm trying to connect with Simple WP Membership plugin which I already use.
What did you do to create your WPdone for you login logo.CSS or just a plugin?
Thanks
Nicely done. Don't see link to bbpress tutorial though.
Hi Paul,
Sorry about the missing link to the bbpress, here it is: th-cam.com/video/BmtFh-pb7F8/w-d-xo.html
I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Hello, to get multi language website with buddypress what is the best structure : wpmu or mono-site? thanks
дякую ти крутий!
Я вийду за тебе
Спасибо, но я уже занят.
i dont have buddy press in the filter themes
I was wondering if it’s possible to allow individual users to sell items
5:22 buddyPress settings not present, :( anyone else encountered this?
Hi Ryan,
When you're on the Menu page can you try clicking on Screen Options in the top right corner of the page. There may be a checkbox for the Buddypress settings. Mine was on by default so I didn't think to mention that.
Hopefully that fixes it!
WordPress Tutorials - WPLearningLab Excellent that fixed it. Cheers for that. As a complete newby to wp I wasn't aware of that.
Same here
@@wplearninglab Thank you Bjor, I was seeing the same thing, couldn't see the BuddyPress settings. Totally forgot about the "Screen Options"! :)
I made a website and wanted to make it so that specific things appear in activity feeds, such as a new group and stories / articles, but I don't want topics and replies to appear in the feed. How do I go about doing that? I tried using the BuddyPress Activity Filter, but it appears to not work and will not register when I click save. Help!
Sorry for the delay in responding. I'm not sure how to do that, you may have to visit the Buddypress forms. Perhaps someone there knows.
6:41 it gives an error "404 not found" when i click on activity
Hello, if anyone read this, you have to change your permalink setup
Do you also have the ability to include a "like button" to the posts/activities, just like other social media ?
Can you create a kind of subscription system for the forums created on Wordpress?where you pay to enter?
Hi Sandro,
Yes, that's possible. You'll need a membership plugin to make it happen. You can use Paid Memberships Pro (free plugin with a full walkthrough that I created here: th-cam.com/video/Rw8Dergcspc/w-d-xo.html ).
Then use this add-on (I don't have this one in the walkthrough, but it appears to do what you need): wordpress.org/plugins/pmpro-bbpress/
It integrates the Paid Memberships Pro plugin with bbPress, bbPress being the forum plugin for WordPress.
In case you need a walkthrough of bbPress you can find it here: th-cam.com/video/BmtFh-pb7F8/w-d-xo.html
I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this wonderful tut. Great info.
Thanks Gilles, and thanks for watching!
Hi Christina,
Yes, you can. Searching for buddypress is the way to go because it will pull all themes with references to buddypress and that should be themes that work with it.
I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
WordPress Tutorials - WPLearningLab
Thank you!!
No problem Christina, good luck!
Seems like BuddyPress is easy to setup, but difficult to style.
What free theme would you recommend for BuddyPress that works with Elementor?
I am using Astra atm. It doesn't have full support for BuddyPress.
I think that is a very good assessment. I don't know of any that work the Elementor. I'll have to do some research.
Great! Can BuddyPress help to make a dating site?
is there a way to use the Divi builder for my buddypress pages i want them to look the same as my other pages
If i have both BBPress & Buddy Press on my site will users have to log in to each separately?
Hi, thanks for your video. Very helpful. So after I create a test user and go to a new incognitio window to log in, after i do so it sends me to the wp-admin page for the test user not the site home page. how do i change this?
You can make this happen with a simple plugin:
This one: wordpress.org/plugins/peters-login-redirect/
or this one: wordpress.org/plugins/bp-redirect-to-profile/
The second one hasn't been updated in while and it has a very specific function. The first plugin is more up-to-date and allows you to specify different types of redirects for different user roles.
I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
How many users can a site like this handle at once?
I am working on creating a social media platform by buddypress, but I have a problem, how do I allow the customer to schedule his post, is there a WordPress plugin that schedules posts.
So wouldn't this be easier if we used elementor? Are there any tutorials that use elementor to customize the pages?
Is it possible for user to create a group and geo tag it?
I want only to upload video just like sharing videos. Can it be done in buddypress?
So I have noticed with the latest versions of WordPress and BuddyPress (as of Feb 28, 2021) the navigation links no longer work. I believe something has changed with the default URLs in BuddyPress becasue no data is ever entered in. So every page (except Logout and Login) actually work. There is no documentation that I could locate on how to correct this.
I have looked at the status bar on my browser for the path the links are set to. On my local test server it is IPAddress/social/members/USERNAME/PAGE
Yes my server is properly configured because every other website I test works without issue.
Hi Frank,
The link should automatically activate the account. Or at least the email should have the activate key. Have you made sure that plugins, your theme and your WP Core files are up-to-date?
@@wplearninglab yes, I think it was a problem with the theme "kleo" it was redirecting or rather formatting the activation key. I installed another theme (buddy boss) and it worked perfectly
hey your video is amazing thanks but can you tell me how to remove the top bar for login users as user can go to the dashboard from it
Hi Suraj,
Can you give this tutorial a go and see if it's what you need: th-cam.com/video/E6O2iPLObgE/w-d-xo.html
It's for removing the admin bar, which is I think is what you're referring to.
I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Wow Thanks its really helpful I have another question after installing bb when user are registering on my site it shows them an activation email has been sent but the user is getting no mail so can you tell me how to setup that so user can get activation mail after registering on my site with buddypress
Hi Suraj,
Not receiving email is a common issue. The first thing I would do is have the users check junk/spam folders. If the email isn't in there, I would contact your hosting support staff to make sure the email function is turned on for your server. It isn't always on by default.
I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I don't see a BuddyPress menu option. can someone help, please?
Here's a tutorial on building a site on a sub-domain if you decide to that route: th-cam.com/video/ZfMgAAH9Jis/w-d-xo.html
I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
hi my registration page is not working , so is member , do i need to create registration form separate ?
I do not see a way to upload a profile picture. I do not have that option. I can change my cover photo, but there is just gray space where the profile picture option should be. Any idea why this could be happening?
Do users have the option to make their page private?
They do with this simple plugin: wordpress.org/plugins/simple-buddypress-profile-privacy/
I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!
