American need to bring back the small business to make everything here again. We totally screwed ourselves by moving everything to China, Mexico, etc. We have the technology but lack of people ready to invest and work. Get it together, America 🇺🇸
Wire section of our local steel plant just seized production permanently in my town. Because of the union, 100 of the old timers working in the wire section were at $50 an hour plus bennies. Now, they've all been laid off. Laborers literally hourly waged their employer out of business and they could care less.
Thats why I have a lathe to be able to make things like that . Ive had to fix a lot of mowers and have helped out alot of major mower stores around me . Lathe are 1 of the best tools for when parts are unavailable.
Considering it was probably 10 year old kids working 12 hour days, i personally can't be too mad at the workers The company, on the other hand, is yet another example of outsourcing to the cheapest manufacture process to maximize their profit margins.
The newer Briggs and snapper snowblowers are completely made in china and it says it very small on the label. It’s a shame everything is so cheap and made overseas.
This is where a welder, lathe and someone who knows how to run it come in. Better to be self sufficient. We can make home foundress. With lathes and milling machines we can do it all.
So who pays for all that extra labor ? It's one thing to have the equipment it's another to have to notify the customer and tell them it's going to be X amount of dollars to do it even though they have a warranty.
I ran into a few of them myself, but got lucky a few times between hobo freight, lowes/ home cheapo, and my stash of old riding mowers! Don’t just toss old mowers to the curb, pull as much possible re-usable parts as possible, just to repair newer junk! And when you search the box stores, remember you may need to go to a machine shop to broach a key way, or weld on a spacer! Other option is if you have a metal lathe, turn one yourself, it will be better quality than a new one, & better than the original!
Just replaced a two month old tensioner pulley on my Toro Z Master 4000. Bearing started roaring not even a month after replacing the old one after it locked up
Definitely agree it's very sad to see how horrible Briggs and Stratton has become over the years seems like everything after 2000 just kept getting worse
And they weren’t starting from any great heights either. Briggs and Stratton were always the cheapest option. If you wanted quality you bought something else.
@@jefftheaussie2225 bull sh-- ! Briggs and Stratton had good engines for years until they started building ohv's with junk parts! They produced the first aluminum alloy engine in the mid fifties and the easy spin compression release which was a machined slightly raised spot on cam lobe ,no springs and metal tab to break like the other brands until they started using the same thing . The briggs flathead engines were long lasting high quality ,especially the opposed twins! I have three over 20 year old opposed briggs twins that replaced newer junk intek and kholer courage engines. Also have a 1983 8 hp flathead single cylinder horizontal from troybilt tiller ,still runs good after tiller wore out! Briggs and Stratton was the best untill the later generation of management ruined it ! All brands are junk now , internal parts made of junk plastic!
@@Randall-mt7jk Nice. I have had plenty of experience with Briggs and Stratton crap too. Being a farmer bailed up by a B&S piece of crap, and I am talking about older cast iron motors too, on an auger for example with the truck there to load grain on more than one occasion is a pain. Never any trouble with good motors like Kohler and Honda. The smaller alloy motors with the pulsa jet carbies should never have been put on fire pumps. If you have had a fire getting away and can’t start the pump because it is a Briggs and Stratton then you will know where I am coming from. That has happened to me and the house burnt down. That was a cast iron 8hp motor on a fire pump too and I should have thrown it on the fire. I look after my stuff too but when something is built to a price you will get what you pay for. I built my own fire pump with an 8hp Kohler on it and it always went first pull but I only had 1 house burn down. I have a mower with a 27hp B&S on it and it has never given me any trouble.
wow did my favorite engine brand ever stoop that low, what happened here seems like a fine case of hardended inner rings that did not get tempered leaving the metal brittle and i had no idea the pulleys came in three parts, why not just some welded sheet steel lol.
Then those people need to get fired! Settling for frequent “mistakes” is settling, period! Where the hell is pride of workmanship, pride of doing a job well, having a sense of responsibility to do a good job and not settling for anything less?
Back ordered part on a snow blower. If it takes 3 months to get the part, it is pretty much down for the whole season, depending on where you live. 😂😠😐

People have to start taking some responsibility for themselves.. YOU the buyer was also in that chain of "quality control".. You should have spotted that before you bought it.
Corporate America enabling Americans wanting everything cheaper. From B&S to Ford, JD, Harley Davidson all of them. It's a vicious cycle. All of us need to break the cycle.
I remember my grandfather's roto tiller from the 1960's. The 5 h.p Briggs ran strong on that for almost 40.years without any issues.
No quality control? You mean no quality period!! Keep the old stuff working as long as possible 👍
When we depend on everything from medicine, clothes and vital sustenance from our "enemies" even pet food, there's a problem
Make Manufacturing in America Great Again!
Yes!!!
These days.. You can just scan this and have it 3D printed in metal for cheap
We need mandatory quality standards for appliances and cars.
We need to ban trade with enemy countries. China is a military enemy.

It's only getting worse. John Deere moving to Mexico proves that.
Maybe Tarriffs will help with this. Maybe.

what a joke. all these once good companies are now pathetic
Yep. I have an 80's B&S 5hp horizontal shaft that still runs like a champ. Whereas my new B&S powered push mower lasted less than two Summers.
I've noticed that some of the FOOD ITEMS in stores like Dollar Tree and Family Dollar come from China. Yeah; I'm sure gonna eat those.....
Yep. If I see a 'produce of China' on the label, it goes back on the shelf.
Heck I got a moog tie arm with no threads on the end!

Communist China slave labor!
Call ‘em out, Taryl! That and the ridiculously weak compression release. No good bastids! I’m a Kawasaki fan boy now, I’m tellin’ ya! 😂🔧👍

You could run a bead with a mig welder, and then spin it down on a lathe.
To fix it
Taryl, I have the same problem working on GM cars and trucks. Chinese parts all on intergalactic backorder... Shameful.
It’s not just GM. It’s all car/truck manufacturers. NONE of the big three can make a roller lifter worth a damn these days.
Chy-nah!
I would make them give me a new snowblower, if they can't replace that pos
Daryl, what do you recommend nowadays?
Put some welds in there and grind it smooth. Good as new!! I know you can do it Taryl. You are the MASTER!!

Scary! Same with auto parts! Actually becoming deadly!!😢😢

I am the 1k like, all the way from Australia 🇦🇺🤝
Formed instead of solid, and likely worn thin . Save your old stuff guys.

Looks like Tecumseh to me.
Says it all
If it were possible to get quality, I'd do it, but EVERYTHING is chiz, you just pay more for more expensive chiz.
Last time I seen one of his videos he said he was done and closing shop! WTF!
Who did b&s farm out those kinds of parts to? When Vanguard goes cheapo, Chinese b&s is done.
Can't you find a good off brand to you can get the one from the factory?
Likely made by the same company that makes those fine plastic camshaft’s for B&S. 😂

That's with about all parts
So true, QC doesn't exist anymore
I’m telling you greed is going to shut down every one of them. Money, money, money. Spend it wisely it’s about to run out.
Weld and machine it?
Use one from an older model?
Chinese kids dont understand Q/C.
When i was ten, they only let me use a clam digger.
Nobody wanted to catch it lol😅
Is that a plastic pulley
Chinese shit indeed ! 👍🤓

I quit counting the number of times I’ve seen bad parts stamped usa😊
Have a machine shop make you one ....
Maybe someone should tell him about his teeth.
Must be a newbie, the teeth are a prop.
@garylittle8985 of course been watching taryldactal for years thought it would be funny
weld it in and have your friend lath it out
Skip a step on install and go straight to the scrap ‘em lol. Disappointing!
Poor quality Chyna crap is about to get more expensive due to Tariffs.
That sucks !
You'd be better off 3d printing those it would probably be better quality

Terrible quality control. No care in their product.
Too busy getting out their high production numbers that the 10yr old employees missed it
Just tap some al foil in the gap with some super glue.
