What a grandeur concert👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👌👌👌👌👌. All renditions are great. The Kambhoji Konniya Dina NaPai is super super👌👌👌👌. The great legend MDR Sir's accompanists most of the time happened to be legends that ebellish the concert🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏.
Good to hear from you, Ravi Nair sir. You will notice that I have saved and reproduced your comment from the previous upload in the description. You seem to be an ardent MDR fan. I have a few questions for you: 1) Did you get to see him live? 2) What are your favorite krithis by him? (either self-composed or not) 3) Do you find him to be a maverick in Carnatic music like GNB, MLV, Kalyanaraman, Dr. BMK, Prof TRS and TNS to name a few? 4) What is his everlasting legacy? Everyone is welcome to answer these questions. Thank you.
1. Yes, once. 2. I have a strong fascination towards all MDR krutis and renditions. I cannot differentiate his renditions between his own or of other legendary vagyekaras. 3. All vagyekaras/musicians in the list were great performers with their own unique styles. According to me, comparison between one musician and another does not make any sense; it is like comparing apples with oranges. To me personally (and as opined by many others) MDR Sir was much above all contemporary musicians, in many aspects like sahityam of krutis, dedication, shruti, tala, laya integration, and many other aspects. But because of his simplicity in life, in his renditions, and towards accolades, the great legend MDR Sir did not receive the right recognition he deserved while he was physically alive (he still lives in the hearts of his fans and rasikas). 4. The rare qualities in life and permeated through MDR Sir's music style and renditions are eye-openers to everyone and especially to every music student, teacher, performer, and rasika. A hard-to-copy lifestyle, immersion and absolute dedication to the field of activity are some of his rare qualities anybody can aspire to achieve🙏🙏🙏.
It was my friend who introduced me to MDR gANam long ago. He considers MDR an innovative trailblazer and laments bitterly that he never got his due while he was alive. But MDR gANam still lives!
