god this was one of the best knife vids out there. your sense of humor and sly input of jokes all while givin good info on the blade was amazing. keep makin great videos
First time I’ve seen one of your videos. So damn refreshing to have someone present like a normal damn human.. Thank you, man. Liked/Subscribed/Commented.
This is how I feel about my mini presidio 2 special edition. I bought it, and I dont want to mess it up. So I dont use it🙃😔. But I use the heck out of my bugout!
I gunked up my mini crooked river processing a deer. Then scratched up the blade with a pull through sharpener. Lastly, I snapped an omega spring fidgeting for a month straight. I like giving my knives scars and making them mine. Just like my women 😐
Still my favorite TH-camr, I sit at home when I’m off from college and watch most of your knife videos , I’ve made a couple purchases because of the vids , keep them rolling brother
What an enjoyable review! I thoroughly love knives.. and really enjoy listening to reviews of them... and other equipment. But I enjoyed that you were a more down to earth reviewer as to just being an everyday-joe view of the knife.
That's the feel I got out of it...there is one reviewer who just reviews knives that are off the wall expensive and talks like it should be nothing to buy one... and I appreciate how you added in the value part
I'm more on the side of, I think expensive knives may not be worth it to most people. I do like them, and I know people do, and there's nothing wrong with it... but at some point it just gets outrageous. They are after all... cutting tools. I got a decent deal on this and only paid about $160... I paid quite a bit of money for my CRK Sebenza, and I'd say that was definitely not worth it.
I do understand after becoming a Benchmade Fan that there is a point at which the money is worth it... I bought a 940 in September and love it... I caught the pocket clip on something a few weeks ago and bent the shit out of it and they sent me a new one... so the service that you are buying is worth it as well. But I think that money is a huge consideration for many people, and like the way you covered that.
Many have become believers in the Osborne design for a reason... It is indeed of the best edc design's of all time. Good luck sharpening that s90v though, I send my knives with that steel to pro's for sharpening. Great review brother, your daughter is getting big!
I got a ways to go before it gets dull. So I'll see how it goes... Yeah she is getting big. And heavy too. We hiked for about 5 miles and it felt like 10.
I like a lot of pocket knives, different sizes, cost and such. But I always found myself coming back to this specific knife. for some reason I did not want to admit this knife was the best EDC. But as time has gone by I always keep on coming back to it. In my opinion it is the best overall EDC. Fit and finish, cost, usefulness and weight and size. It is the perfect combination. And Benchmade has the best warranty and customer service out of all the knife companies in my experience to boot.
Yeah man. Plus if you can't sharpen it, then they'll do it for you. It's kind of got it all. I mean you might not want to baton with it... but other than that...
I think some of this has to do with your browsing history. Don't ask me how many 100's of times I've tested this. I see 2nd on a search of the 940-1 (after Emperor Shabazzes) and way down if you search 940...
Well darn. Just bought the Benchmade large emissary before seeing your review. I think I still made a good choice though. I know it's a little late, but Happy New Year to you and yours.
I think if i had to pick one knife ( gasp eek and all that ) I would more than likely pick my 940, it is and has been my daily carry knife for at least 5+ years, I have others that I will rotate in but I just feel weird not having it on me.... sometimes I will carry it in my other pocket while I try a new knife out Is that weird ? lol anyway I think what I appreciate the most is exactly what you stated in your video, it is a light knife with a good sized blade. I really like the narrower profile for most day to day tasks, I just dont need a knife that is 2" wide blade that looks like something out of a Rambo movie..... not that theres anything wrong with that . If I could build one in fantasy land it would be D2 with micarta scales and titanium liner........
Yeah man... less is more in this knife. All these considerations have helped keep the weight to performance ratio high. You barely know it's there most of the time.
Braaahh awesome video!! Cool to bring the family out while the weather permits. Most popular model from Benchmade, awesome!! At 2:52 you scared me, from that angle it seems like you almost poke your eye out, but I know you always careful with your knives braaahh!! 😄👍🏼
Awesome review. I have had a regular 940, now I only own a 940-1 and really like it. Dude, it looked like you about lost a fingertip cutting that apple in half.
I don't think I've ever cut myself cutting an apple. Figuring out depolyment is usually the time I get bit. The fast shutter angle I'm using makes it look a little more jerky than it is in reality. It was bright out!
Good change of scenery for this edit AKB, I know it takes more time than doing it at home. this knife looks like one that was copied by Ganzo, im thinking of the g710. good job on this review man, shooting from many angles really keeps it interesting.
Here it is... someone just pointed it out to me a few days ago. www.reddit.com/r/Ganzo_Knives/comments/5ce0ea/new_g756_benchmade_940_copy_out_now/ I was going to to hiking on MLK... and I figured... I got a baby on my back... what's another few pounds. So I brought my G7, the 14-42, and my gorilla pod.
First off, The Crawford Leopard was the best benchmade ever. Back when the 940 was new, When Gene Osborne was an up and coming knifemaker, The standard 940 with Aluminum handles and ATS 34 steel was like $79 now its $180+/-. with S30v. They made a special run around 2000 of red scales with a black blade. I picked up one of those for $89. I thought it was going to be bigger when I bought it. so I sold it to a coworker.
Advanced Knife Bro the Crawford Leopard? I dont have a scale that weighs stuff that light but for a big knife it's a featherweight. The leopard cub was smaller and even lighter. It came in several colors but I could only find black in the non serrated. I was curious after you mentioned it, So i started looking around. Blade HQ lists the weight as 3.6 oz the cub is 2.6
Try contacting "coutellerie tourangelle" in France. You will find the 940 at 190 euros. I don't work for them but I've bought all my new knives from them (Benchmade, Spyderco, Ontario). Very professionnal people for now.
My blade centering is pretty good... I have heard the Benchmades QC is spotty sometimes... but nevertheless it's still an awesome blade... deserving of all it's accolades.
I noticed you could cut up the apple with the 940-1, but you did not take out the core, which leave the question: Can it core a apple? Ed Norton may want to know.
spot on!!.. I also have 940 and although my 940-1 is my edc the 940 with its s30v steel is easier to sharpen. yet 940-1 needs to be sharpened less frequently (so it's a trade off) best edc you'll ever have!! (with either)... trust me! might I also add their warranty is great! send for factory resharpering or even get free replacement pocket clips from them! (940-1 pocket clip shows wayyyy less wear then 940's after 2 years of caring each.. but you be the judge😀)... TRUST ME... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
Hey bro, have you used them for prying or hard use, and how has the S90V held up compared to the S30V? I just got a 940-1 and I'd love to know what I can put it through.
might I also add.. 940-1 and 940-2 not only have cool looking back spacers... but with open back spacers are much easier for cleaning without taking knife apart! and although 940's pocket clip might wear faster then 940-1 the green aluminum will resist scratching like a champion!! (all 940's are usually on anyone's top edc list)
Removed some factory burr from a friend's S30V+G0 version when he got it. While not as slicey as the other Benchmades I have, I appreciated the length of blade you get for such a light knife with a very compact carry profile.
I just starting collecting nicer knives. My first was the blurple Manix 2. This might me my 2nd. I have a blind horse knife fixed blade I got for xmas.
Advanced Knife Bro i have one where i drilled holes in the bronze washers for 85WT nano oil, polished them. Polished the liners and AXIS bar. Its smoother than a Sabenza.
+Niels Slobbe I gave my Sage 5 to my brother... both are excellent knives... both fairly lightweight. I'd say the edge goes to the benchmade because of the lighter weight and slightly larger cutting edge. It also has a higher end steel too. If you're on (somewhat) of a budget- there's nothing wrong with the sage 5. I also prefer the longer handle of the 940-1... I prefer a full handle grip versus using the choil on the sage 5.
Advanced Knife Bro thank you for the fast reply! I like the looks of the benchmade and i think i'ts more practical to..how is the sharpening on the benchmade? I also own a spyderco sharpering system. keep up the good work! love your channel brah (sorry for the bad english I'm dutch)
+Niels Slobbe your English is great! I have yet to sharpen the s90v of this one- it's holding up well to my occasional use- but I hear it's hard. I'll have to let you know for long term. If you lived in the US... benchmade offers a lifetime sharp guarantee. I don't know how that works overseas.
Advanced Knife Bro thank you for letting me know. I think I'ts the same but you need to pay shipping. maybe a new video idea, sharpning diffrent kind of steels and what your thoughts are.
My favorite Benchmade is the no longer made Benchmade triage in N680 with a seat belt cutter window breaker tough as nails good grip black blade orange g10 handles axis lock
Hello AKB. Have your thoughts changed much since the original review? My shop doesn't carry the standard 940. The CF 940-1 is also cheaper than the Aluminum 940 (should the 940 ever come back in stock). But... I'm concerned about sharpening s90v. Thx
S90V matched the 40 degrees of my spyderco sharpmaker well. I've never repro;ed it just did some qucik 4-5 minute touch ups over the years. This is a great knife
I've been trying for a few years now... They say they forward my request to the donation department and I never hear back. I try a few times a year. I might buy something if I can't get a handout. The answer is Yes... and hopefully I can make that happen in the next few months. Thanks man!
Advanced Knife Bro Sucks that you may have to buy one. There are so many options to choose from. I own as many knives as I can convince my wife I need and out of all of them I'd have to say my Recon 1 and mini Recon are the most used. Hard use too. I love my 551-1 Griptillian a lot but I'm so worried about losing it or beating it up to much. Those thoughts never cross my mind with the Recons. They're just tough and brutish knives I could imagine an Orc useing.
I beat the crap out of my Griptilian... they can take it... well up to a point. But I've heard many good things about Cold Steels lock, so I'm curious to try one out. I'll look at their new models and see if there's anything I like.
My brother is one of those "old school" knife guys who really digs Benchmade folders. Because he lives abroad, usually traveling through 3rd world countries, he needs a solid knife, so I usually end up buying and sending him his Benchmade. Myself, I'm not necessarily a Benchmade fan, though I certainly like the Osborne design, as well as the mini Grip. Unlike my brother, a one knife guy, I like variety butI prefer well built knives at the other end of the piece spectrum. Among the dozen or more folders I own, I'm quite content with my Ganzo Firebird F7562, Ganzo wanna-be folder. Yes, a slight bit larger and heavier, but a very useful knife, nonetheless. I truly don't give a crap about having harder steels, as my knife uses haven't really changed in the last 50 years: opening boxes and packages, cutting up cardboard, plastic, rope., and on-the-road food prep, etc. Can man live by one knife alone? My brother certainly thinks so. Myself, variety is the spice of life, so owning these utterly well built, Chinese made knives, French made Opinels, New Zealand made Svörgs, and so on, I'm in pig heaven. What school do you belong to?
I prefer a simple folding knife with a lock. A endura served me for years and it was what I needed. A multi tool, a 3.5 inch locking folding knife, and maybe a large fixed blade or hand axe is kind of all I really would want.
+Chinese knives it's a tad smoother than the ganzo axis locks, but not much. I might attribute this more to sample to sample variance than a particular blade. Plus this blade is smaller in overall surface area than most... which may attribute to it being an easy deployment and close.

Gear Best is sending me the knife for review. I can't see how it's possible to be anywhere near the 2.5 ounce weight of this knife... but we'll see. Someone on BLF had reviewed a copy of this knife... and it was close to the weight... but that was a copy- and I try to avoid reviewing those on the channel. www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-and-folding-knives/pp_603463.html Thanks man! We'll see when it gets here!
I was kind of hoping you'd get into a knife fight with a gang of raccoons in the woods so we could see some more of your bad ass knife fighting moves you displayed in that Lightning OTF video. Lol.
If you mean the knife reviewer enjoying a great hike with a sweet child on his back, then I am betting you're wrong. He appears content and uses humor. You likely mistake his "deadpan" delivery for apathy or hatred. Cheers!
A month or two ago my calipers ran out of juice, and I've been using an old fashioned 1/16 ruler... and converting figures via google. So right now I have no way of measuring that value. I've look at and read a few other reviews... in hope someone else, a bit more technical measures that- but I see most people don't. I'll get some fresh batteries for my calipers soon... and try to start including that info in my reviews. You're literally the first person to ever ask that. I often wonder though, are my cheap chinese calipers reliable enough to get an accurate measurement? The way I do my measurements... is I compare what I measure against the manufacturer... and normally include mine, unless there's is a bit more precise. I use my measurements as a check against theirs, to make sure they have accurate info- which some manufacturers don't. I notice though that Knife center and Blade HQ... and even manufacturers don't include this info much, and I wonder why?
Advanced Knife Bro that’s cool Bro. I just thought I would give you shit cause uh, it seem I have all kinds of time these days... also I love the meltdowns I have seen in the comments every time you beat the dog snot out of expensive folders. Seems to be fun on your part. I approve 🙂
Advanced Knife Bro they react as if you batoned their grandad. Also for any buck fans reading this, bucks suck, mostly. And their lock backs are weak sauce that can’t take any real tactical demands. There. Hope that helps
I wish I knew the answer. I only have a sharpmaker- and other people say it needs something more. Benchmade has a lifetime sharpening service, so there's always that. www.benchmade.com/warranty-service
Another great video. I was wondering about sharpening S90V as well. Have you ever tired free hand sharpening on water stones? Murray Carter has a sharpening instruction video that only took me a few times to be proficient at. My sharpmaker collects dust now. I'd like to see a follow up video on the edge retention and how you sharpen it after it gets dull. What flashlight are you currently EDCing?
I tried hand sharpening a few years ago on a diamond stone... and I scratched the shit out of my enduras. If I can't get the sharpmaker to work, I may just send it in to Benchmade. When it gets dull I'll do a long term carry video. Just my Zebralight right now... Most of the lights I've been reviewing lately are too big for work carry. I'm working on a DQG tiny review right now... but it's 26650 size isn't pocket friendly.
I think you should be able to sharpen it with the sharpmaker. You understand the crucial step of not moving on from your rough stones until the blade has actually got an edge on it. I've never had any of the super steels so I'd love to see a long term carry and resharpening video. I was wondering if you were still rocking the Zebra.
Nice! I was fondling the G10 version at Cabela's. I swung it open and assumed that it would do so in the pocket. Good to know. No reason not to buy it now. I love M4, but I think I will grab the S90V with CF scales. I am new to your channel, but try to get ahold of a Infidel to review. OTF = useless fun.
I've had a Scarab from MT, but sold it as I took a gig in Chicago. Live in Lake Tahoe now, so it's like being a kid in a candy store. Wondering about long-term durability of the Infi, but love the layout.
I backpacked a little less than half of the O.T. with my father and brother. Taum Sauk Mt. was my favorite area of the Trail. I live in Indiana and have much respect for Missourians.
Nice place! I grew up around Lake Norfork and Bull Shoals, and didn't get to that part of Missouri much. Maybe one day when I'm a bit older I'll move back and get to all the places I've missed. I know some parts of the OT are overgrown a bit. I know the AT has a whole network of volunteers that help keep it nice... maybe it's a much smaller crew in the Ozarks.
Nice review and I like your style here so I am going to sub. Looking forward to more videos. So, my experience with the knife...I just got it yesterday. It was used but like new and barely used. I am incredibly bothered by the fit and finish. The blade is off center and it is functions but a little more off center and it would touch the scales when closed. This is not a deal breaker since it is functional but for the price it is disappointing. Now the more disappointing things. The sharpening was just straight up bad. Much more of a grind on one side than the other to the point where at the tip the grind was almost all on one side with almost none on the other and a convex grind which looked like they were trying to cover their mistake but it still didn't make the knife sharp beyond a working edge but not a very sharp one. I sharpened it on my edge pro and now it is great but come on - a knife at this price should never have left the factory like this. There was also side to side play although not a ton and it is not a concern for real life use. Again, though, disappointing. The action is great, the design is great, the looks are great and it has the potential to be the best knife I have had or seen in person but as is, after some fiddling with the pivot screw and sharpening it to pop hairs it is a great knife reduced to a good one with some great elements. I plan on taking advantage of their warranty service since I have read that they will honor requests to fix these things but I am going to keep it for now because who wants to send their new knife off to the factory for an undetermined amount of time to get it to the way is should have been when it was first sent out of the factory? I know that one way or another this knife will be my favorite. The action alone makes this a top tier EDC for me because it is so easy to operate (and fun), I love the blade now that I fixed it and the weight is unreal. The only problem with the weight is that I often thing I forgot or lost the knife but there it is in my pocket, light as a feather and just unnoticed because of the profile and weight. Anyway I'm sure that all of this is not important to the video but I did want to write it in case anyone thinking of buying the knife came along and read it. I got it for a good price so if I had the choice I would do it again but I am very wary of buying another Benchmade at this point...at least a blue box since it seems like they don't get proper QA. I have three black box Benchmades and none of them have problems.
I would sent it back immediately... if it were that bad. I had an Esee break on me over the weekend, and well now... it's unusable. i plan on sending that back too. If the knife is so off center it rubs, it will create problems in the future I'm sure. Benchmade even though factory QC ain't great, has pretty good customer service.
Advanced Knife Bro Yeah, it is heading back whether I like it or not. Hopefully they can make it a knife that approaches being worth what they charge for it - the Axis lock stopped working and just slides back and forth so I think the spring broke. Pretty ridiculous.
AK Bro, I've noticed how much you appreciate constructive criticism of your cussin' and use of words like tallness. So I figured you'd be equally enthused to know that "its slim profile" ain't got no use for an apostrophe. As for the 940-1, its slim profile is nice when it's in the pocket, but its Axis lock is a bit suspect when it's batoning. And its relatively short tallness means it's not the best for for my hand. But I f'ing love the knife anyway.
I have the 940-1 with the G-10. So I am that guy who can achieve a level above pond scum. Yet still leave overhead options for really strange stuff that's expensive more than the material it made out of. I did ask a person in Australia to cut me some titanium screws, a pivot and those weird spacer things. So now my 940-1 weighs pretty much down to a plastic knife like we issue out at the nursing home. Old Mr. Ausfart was eyeing my knife. I have to watch him close. He was one of those Germany people from WWII with rifles and stuff. See he and Mr. Klien who was on our side during WWII. They don't like eachother most days. I would love to drop my 940 in the middle of a hall way. Kick back. Light a smoke or three and watch the race to the death. But, we would lose our state cer certiphi certiphikations certifications yes nailed it. Yeah we would lose the government cheese. That would suck because, after prunes or before cheese Bro is your friend. Peanut brittle its the season. Say a prayer for me. Or step on a bug for me. I like the 940. Wish I had one in the Army. Then I could play a knife battle against or with my K55K. Problem solved. Ausfart gets the 55 and Klien gets the 940. This will be good on spag sagheti spaghetti where there is a will there is a way to cover blood day.
The reason I would go for tip down carry is if the detent is weak. I don't like the idea of a partially open knife tip up in my pocket, even if the tip does rest against the outer seam in my pocket. I think, for example, the detent is weak on the Para 2. I used to carry it tip down. I've been looking at a 940 in G-10. I think I may have to go for it at your recommendation. Nicely done.
The G10 still isn't that heavy. It's a nice blade... I like it more than the 765 for a lightweight 3 inch EDC. It's a more thoughtful design. Most of my knife carry is in my interior jacket pocket... and even knives with weak detent still haven't opened yet. Maybe if I wore jeans for work and pocket carried, that it would be different.
i own this knife. i was initially pissed that it came with a 45 degree grind that will never be shaving sharp. i reduced the grind angle to the 20 degree edge im used to... now it won't fucking hold due to chipping and i understand why the 45 degree edge was factory spec... if this isn't good knife steel why charge extra for it?
Finally a gear channel I can stand to watch for more than 30 seconds. Thank you for the copious amount of sarcasm and self deprecation I've been searching for.
And there are some people who can't even stand 30 seconds! Thanks man... I try to make it entertaining, and give people something different to look at in every video.
Being a good dad and taking his child on nature walks gets a thumbs up from me! Also great knife review, really love your style
Thanks man! My girl loves being outside
I have carried a 940 for over 10 years I was thinking of getting my kid one of these. That would be a surprise Christmas gift

I am an Eagle Scout and I thank you for taking into the “leave no trace “ rule, stay classy advance knife bro
Thanks!
Just got my 940-1 today on your recommendation. Definitely the best Benchmade ever. Thanks man, keep up the good work!
Glad you like it- thanks man!
First time I’ve seen one of your videos.
So damn refreshing to have someone present like a normal damn human.. Thank you, man.
Liked/Subscribed/Commented.
I’ve had a Paramilitary 2 for roughly a year and 3 months and it’s been my EDC ever since. I’m really considering switching over to the 940-1.
My 940 is such a great knife, I love it so much, I keep it in the box stored in a safe place. Kind of sad. It is my favorite small knife.

Thanks for sticking with the channel dude!
What an enjoyable review! I thoroughly love knives.. and really enjoy listening to reviews of them... and other equipment. But I enjoyed that you were a more down to earth reviewer as to just being an everyday-joe view of the knife.
Yeah man... I'm a normal non pretentious dude, who tries to make reviews for other dudes like me!
Best knife review I have ever seen .
Best knife review. Hell, this could quite possibly be the best review on anything ever, bruh! Keep it up
I got some other ones you should check out too, thanks man!
You’re a cool guy and I like your knife bro. Hope you’re hike was a nice hike
This is the best EDC imho. I've carried this EVERY day for six years. Love it!
Your videos are amazing man. Really enjoying them. Love the dry humor, too.

Yeah man. Plus if you can't sharpen it, then they'll do it for you. It's kind of got it all. I mean you might not want to baton with it... but other than that...
Damn your vids are the bees knees

Holy shit man. Your video is the first one to pop up when you type in Benchmade 940-1. This might be old news to you but congrats regardless!
I think some of this has to do with your browsing history. Don't ask me how many 100's of times I've tested this. I see 2nd on a search of the 940-1 (after Emperor Shabazzes) and way down if you search 940...

You have become my favorite handle model
Good review as always. I may step up and purchase a blade of this caliber soon and retire the Delica. Almost at 10k subs, very nice Knife Bro!
I know! It's been slow going. I'll say... my Endura gets very little pocket time now. I loved that knife for years.
Well darn. Just bought the Benchmade large emissary before seeing your review. I think I still made a good choice though. I know it's a little late, but Happy New Year to you and yours.
You too! How do you like the Emissary so far?
Advanced Knife Bro It's still on order. Let you know when it comes in Bro.
That's my grail knife. Thanks for reminding me how piss poor I am. Great vid thanks 🐱

Naw... I was fine and wasn't pushing hard through the knife. Come on... safety is my middle name. My videos are evidence of my skill and care!
Here it is... someone just pointed it out to me a few days ago.
www.reddit.com/r/Ganzo_Knives/comments/5ce0ea/new_g756_benchmade_940_copy_out_now/
I was going to to hiking on MLK... and I figured...
How much did that one weigh? Looks cool. Yeah Benchmade is kind of overpriced. Yeah... it's a lot smaller than you think.
Blade HQ lists the weight as 3.6 oz the cub is 2.6
2.6 ain't bad at all. There's a serrated that weighs like 2.4... which is great for a 3 inch blade.
Beautiful nature and knife. In Germany the Knife is almost 400€ which is crazy!
Holy crap! Thanks man... we went for a hike yesterday and thought it would be a good idea to get some shots out in the park.
Hiking is always a good idea! :)
Try contacting "coutellerie tourangelle" in France. You will find the 940 at 190 euros.
I don't work for them but I've bought all my new knives from them (Benchmade, Spyderco, Ontario). Very professionnal people for now.
Rose river is a good spot. Nice to see a fellow virginian.
Great review. I have the 940-2 and love it. i went with this one because I wanted something I can touch up myself (S30V)
I'll have to try my hand at s90v when this one eventually needs it. Thanks!
Love the 940-1 but recently switch to the Mini crooked River as my edc
Subbed! Chill review and lots of special detail and humor 😏. Keep it up brah!
Thanks! Got some more stuff coming out soon.
I really like your style on making videos. I have a 940-1, the blade centering is off in the closed position. It's still a good knife
My blade centering is pretty good... I have heard the Benchmades QC is spotty sometimes... but nevertheless it's still an awesome blade... deserving of all it's accolades.
Awesome review of one of my personal favorites! It's just a shame there weren't any Christmas trees on that trail...
I would have kilt em! Yeah my favorite Benchmade so far.
I noticed you could cut up the apple with the 940-1, but you did not take out the core, which leave the question: Can it core a apple? Ed Norton may want to know.
I eat the core and only spit out the seeds! I'm weird like that.
You need to be careful with that. In high school, I knew a girl that swallowed a watermelon seed, and it started growing there.
Geez, that man just looks like the man are running away from zombies with his baby. Lol
Trying to decide between this one and the original 940.
Tip down would get in the way of the axis lock. Good video, good knife 👍
That it would! Thanks!
spot on!!.. I also have 940 and although my 940-1 is my edc the 940 with its s30v steel is easier to sharpen. yet 940-1 needs to be sharpened less frequently (so it's a trade off)
best edc you'll ever have!!
+jon mcgaw yeah you do... I love this knife. Smooth as butter deployment... and you can barely feel it in your pocket. Thanks man!
Hey bro, have you used them for prying or hard use, and how has the S90V held up compared to the S30V? I just got a 940-1 and I'd love to know what I can put it through.
I hate it when I'm contemplating on a knife purchase then all of a sudden your favorite knife reviewer reviews it. Aaaaand I'm on noodles again....
This is noodles for a week the way I get paid.
might I also add..
I love my -1... love the sarcastic voiceover knife reviews
That carbon fiber... amirite?
You are my fav knife guy.
I just starting collecting nicer knives. My first was the blurple Manix 2. This might me my 2nd. I have a blind horse knife fixed blade I got for xmas.
Nice! This will practically disappear in your pocket after the Manix 2.
Great knife. I used to have the green anodized aluminum version.
You sell it or lose it?
Advanced Knife Bro sold it.
Cool.
New to your channel. Great work. Love it.
Hey guys witch Benchmade knife can you close the blade real easy with just one thumb using the axis lock. Thanks.
You can close this with one thumb, with just a touch of practice. You need to flick it downward when you do it though.
Awesome! I have 7 940’s. Love the vids!
Jerez! It’s an awesome knife isn’t it?
Advanced Knife Bro i have one where i drilled holes in the bronze washers for 85WT nano oil, polished them. Polished the liners and AXIS bar. Its smoother than a Sabenza.
I absolutely agree. Even without those mods my 940-1 is smoother than my Sebenza.
If money is not a concern, would you own a Chris Reeve Senbenza 25 compares to the 940?
+Kim Swee Lye 940
I'm looking for a new compact and low weight EDC knife...this one ore the spyderco sage 5?
Thanks for sharing. :)
I luv (love) the 940. It's awesome; and by awesome, I mean TOTALLY SWEET.
YEAH BRO
That comment was so awesome I flipped out and head-butted my dog and then we both screamed and mom was mad.
Love the channel man! I was just curious if you'll ever review anything by Cold Steel?
I picked one up from walmart.com this week for $210. Beautiful knife.
Didn't know they were carrying them now. Awesome- and a good price!
I like my zero tolerance 0770cf better. No axis lock but deeper carry cause ... everyone likes it deeper right? right! .... good review brah!
That's a nice one too... 3 ounces is nice and light. Thanks!
Benchmade can send you a deep carry clip for free. Have one on my 940-1 right now.
The look of disdain on her little face is just precious
What about the axis lock versus the axis of the last models from Ganzo? Some differences?
+Chinese knives it's a tad smoother than the ganzo axis locks, but not much. I might attribute this more to sample to sample variance than a particular blade. Plus this blade is smaller in overall surface area than most... which may attribute to it being an easy deployment and close.

Advanced Knife Bro Ganzo has a near copy of this, it would be interesting to compare.
Thanks!
Gear Best is sending me the knife for review. I can't see how it's possible to be anywhere near the 2.5 ounce weight of this knife... but we'll see. Someone on BLF had reviewed a copy of this knife... and it was close to the weight... but that was a copy- and I try to avoid reviewing those on the channel.
www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-and-folding-knives/pp_603463.html
Thanks man! We'll see when it gets here!
Does burying your MREs leftovers and slit trench/cat hole still count as leave no trace? Asking for a friend.
Yep!
I have one and carry it when I'm not working. The green aluminium i carry at work.
They're nice blades.
awesome review love your camera work ....sub 1 !!!!
Thanks man!
I much prefer the regular green 940 I keep buying -1s but they don't stick around
+Almost Smart people steal them?
Advanced Knife Bro I sell them or trade them off
how much be this joint?
Which would you recommend, lion steel m1 in m390 or this 940-1? I am looking for a combo knife for my pm2
The M1 is a little small of a fixed blade for my tastes... so I say go with the 940.
Advanced Knife Bro I think the size of m1 is perfect for edc fix blade....and the grip is excellent, but anyway thanks man!
Awesome review thank you...
Thanks!
I was kind of hoping you'd get into a knife fight with a gang of raccoons in the woods so we could see some more of your bad ass knife fighting moves you displayed in that Lightning OTF video. Lol.
I should have hung around the trash bins at the picnic area. NEXT TIME!
Khyber Safi he'd loose for sure. Raccoons move in packs and I hear they carry cold steel xl espadas
Looks very good for Self Defense vs Apples
Apples are ruthless.
he sounds like he hates life
Whose he?
If you mean the knife reviewer enjoying a great hike with a sweet child on his back, then I am betting you're wrong. He appears content and uses humor. You likely mistake his "deadpan" delivery for apathy or hatred. Cheers!
Haven’t met anyone who eats apples who hates life. He eats apples.
Can you tell me how thin it is behind the edge? .020 or less on average I hope?
Pimp knife! Trying out for special forces again with the baby road marches? Looks like a great place to hike around.
That hike kicked my ass. I'm so out of shape... it was only 5 miles too... and we had a 30 minute break.
Adding a pack lets you know how in shape you really are...well that and stairs.
And I ain't in shape...
I haven't used my exercise bike in months. I did have foot surgery, but I just use that as an excuse now.
I'm full of excuses!
AKB. WTF man?! How can I decide on the knife with no battoning ? If it can’t split lumber I will just go cold steel
I batoned with in my Ganzo review, of the clone of this knife I think. I think.
Advanced Knife Bro that’s cool Bro. I just thought I would give you shit cause uh, it seem I have all kinds of time these days... also I love the meltdowns I have seen in the comments every time you beat the dog snot out of expensive folders. Seems to be fun on your part. I approve 🙂
The buck videos are the worst for self righteous assholes.
Advanced Knife Bro they react as if you batoned their grandad. Also for any buck fans reading this, bucks suck, mostly. And their lock backs are weak sauce that can’t take any real tactical demands. There. Hope that helps
If i got this knife how good of a knife sharpener would i need? I know the S90V steel takes a lot to sharpen well.
I wish I knew the answer. I only have a sharpmaker- and other people say it needs something more. Benchmade has a lifetime sharpening service, so there's always that.
www.benchmade.com/warranty-service
Advanced Knife Bro thanks man
Another great video.
Hey bro, nice knife, but where did you get the baby? I've been looking for one for my EDC, but Gearbest doesn't have them. OR AT LEAST NOT YET.
It's my EDB.
Great video. Thank you.
now review the ganzo clone of the 940
Predictor: 4 ounces.
The only better knife in that $-range is the Oz in M4! The only disadvantage, IMO, is the retention (closed). Opens in the pocket.
This has not opened in the pocket yet!
Yeah I've owned a cheap OTF knives and I like them. The infidel is on the Benchmade shortlist for me.
I've had a Scarab from MT, but sold it as I took a gig in Chicago. Live in Lake Tahoe now, so it's like being a kid in a candy store. Wondering about long-term durability of the Infi, but love the layout.
That's my favorite EDC knife.
Mine too!
First video I've watched of yours. Sweet ass vid new sub. BRO. Lol
Thanks for checking em out man!
Looks like the Ozark Trail, Courtouis section.
The Ozarks and Appalachians have some similarities... I grew up in the Ozarks myself and I love it out there.
How many apples had to dye for this revew?
Just one!
I'm flicking my benchmade as I watch this.
We all do it man!
Do you sharpen this knife on Sharpmaker? If so what angle setting? Ordered one in S30V curious how hard it would be for beginner to get sharp.
Yes, and it was fairly easy. The edge bevel matches up fairly well to the 40 degree angle.
Thanks Advanced Knife Bro I’ll try not to mess it up
AK Bro, I've noticed how much you appreciate constructive criticism of your cussin' and use of words like tallness.
Man people have been trying to get me to stop cussing for years. God bless their fucking little hearts.
@@AdvancedKnifeBro 😁😆😂🤣
I still prefer the regular green/aluminum model, I bought mine awhile back.
This will be good on spag sagheti spaghetti where there is a will there is a way to cover blood day.
>i
The reason I would go for tip down carry is if the detent is weak.
Bruce McIntyre That happened to me just this afternoon. 😐
Great knife but the aluminum version shows wear easily go with g10 or carbon fiber
Yeah, anodized aluminum wears quickly in the pocket.
All hail fink, all hail fink, all hail fink. I think of you the knife worlds rcr.
Was that a honeycrisp apple?
Maybe??? Good eye! ?
Tip down is safer in pocket if it partially opens and faster to deploy.
I embrace weird, and I loved the Osbourne's. Specially Ozzie.
Ozzy
Informative and hilarious. Pretty sure I have that old ass hoody too.
+burnedprog and this is my least ratty one!
i own this knife. i was initially pissed that it came with a 45 degree grind that will never be shaving sharp. i reduced the grind angle to the 20 degree edge im used to... now it won't fucking hold due to chipping and i understand why the 45 degree edge was factory spec... if this isn't good knife steel why charge extra for it?
Have had one for 2 weeks now, I would like to trade it.
