Ken Abrames created the flatwing fly.
    So.... Buy his book.
This is the man to learn from.

I took a tying class with Joe 8-9 years ago. I enjoy tying the flatwings as much as fishing them. Bear's Den is the best place I've found for FL tying supplies.

well. it is actually John Kenney Abrames.
and regardless of what another might believe
or a name for another fly from another time
    Kenney created the flatwing fly.
    as it is today.
and as it will be one hundred years from now.
you can call it as you see it
    as will I
    nice video
    peace

I've really drank the cool aid on this style of fly. I'm discovering the Currentseams blog as well as Kenny Abrames two facebook blogs. Other than the flatting cape is there something else that could be used? I have a 10 gal container filled with capes. No flat wing in them.

Can you please tell me if Joe Cordeiro has a web site or any way to contact him? I have fallen in love with these flies and have tried my best to get them fishing like his. I would love to communicate with him. I am originally from Fall River, MA and Cordiero is a common name there. New Bedford and surrounding areas as well. Whiting is going to stop producing the flat wing saddles. I was told by my wholesale dealer. I have bought as many as I can afford. All the best and thanks for the time in answering this post.

Sean, I have no idea where you are now but The Bears Den in Taunton Mass has had him there at least the last 3 years to tie (as well as a bunch of other tiers). Check out their web site, he'll be posting when and details for the 2018 show in a month or 2.
