Inflation hits people a lot harder than a crashing stock or housing market as it directly affects people's cost of living that people immediately feel the impact of. It's not surprising negative market sentiment is so high now. We really need help to survive in this Economy.

I think I could really use more guidance to navigate the market, it is completely overwhelming, I've liquidated most of my assets and I could really use some advice on what best to invest into.

    • @RaymondKeen.
      @RaymondKeen. ปีที่แล้ว +1

Your best option if you are unfamiliar with the markets is to seek advice or help from a consultant or investing coach. I know it sounds simple or generic, but talking to a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and increase my portfolio to roughly 65% since January. For me, it's the best method to enter the market right now.

Finding financial advisors like Margaret Johnson Arndt who can assist you shape your portfolio would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.

Many families and businesses have been destroyed.

I feel your pain. I just found you! At 82 this is my prime occupation...sewing and making quilts! When I semi retired from office work I worked part time at our local Joanns store. Ladies would bring their quilts in to show us and my boss told me I could do it. A Triple IRish Chain was my first one. Sold it for $500 and I was hooked. I don't make many bed size anymore due to cost. I don't sell them anymore since Etsy went world wide on the market. Keep your chin up and hopefully things will turn around for you soon. Don't give up!!

My heart goes out to you, Stephanie. When I was a teenager, my dad had to close our "mom & pop" grocery store as he was crowded out by the big supermarkets, so I know the pain of what you're going through. I'm retired now, and squeezing those pennies more every week. Fabric prices have gone through the roof, so I imagine this has really impacted your business. I will say that I love your patterns; I have several, and I have your books also. I look forward to staying with you and enjoying your videos. Stay strong!

Dear Stephanie, I am deeply struck by your strength, courage, and compassion for your employees and family. And even the remaining list of both dedicated and casual followers as you chose the more difficult path to keep us informed even though it was mighty hard.
And I'm both impressed and happy to see you choosing to look forward and not backwards. That takes courage and strength of character to do so today and each and every day going forward.
Although we don't know the future, making decisions from the heart and compassion always lead us in the right direction.
Always know I'll be here praying for you... I just jotted down prayer notes in my book.
For strength, courage and compassion to be your constant companions. To always follow that still inner voice, never give into doubt, cast your eyes upon new dreams and follow your heart.
You will always know the right path. And I just added, 'mill pray for a future with an environment filled with love, joy and compassion, yes and the blessings of many friends (other people in your new environment).
    Love always conquers everything else.
    Hugs from Maine.

I’m so sorry for this. I tried having my own business and I felt like such a failure when I had to close the doors, along with a $10,000 debt left owing to pay. But that was 45 years ago and what I learned is that God will see you through and you can pick yourself up and dust yourself off and go on. When one door closes another will open. What I would like to share is that when I subscribe to a TH-cam channel it’s about what I can learn from it. I don’t have a lot of money but love to sew. I will download pdf pattens when I feel it’s a good choice for me. I look for easy patterns and love watching people teaching patterns. You’re gonna be fine, just hang in there and BTW I am resubscribing so hopefully many more will.

I know how hard this must be for you. I have a huge stash and have been making garments out of some of it. My husband and I have a nice nest egg, but I’m having to cut back a little too. I’m 78 and he is 85. Our biggest expenditure was on travel. I am going to sell some high end sewing machines. I don’t really need 10.

I'm sorry you had to go this route and I know it's heart-breaking for you. I'm older and I remember back in 2008-9 things were tanking like they are now. Slowly, but surely everything came back strong and I know it will again. You are still young and you gained a ton of knowledge through this adventure. Ride this out and maybe down the road it will work for you again. You have such a gift for patterns and designs. I don't even like the modern quilting, but I have bought several of your patterns because they are so interesting.

Stephane you are such a brave and courageous person to be worrying about all the people who work with you. Please don’t give up all the other endeavors that you work with; patterns, books and tutorials. I wish you the best and am praying that down the road things will look up and get better. Hang in there and don’t give up. We are in your corner and we’ll always be there for you. God bless.

You need to take care of you and your family. I lost my husband In June so cherish your family. Hold on as once you lose a family member this doesn’t matter. I will look and shop what I can as I’m cutting down on spending.

I’m so sorry, Stephanie. It’s so difficult -I used to run my own business until I was diagnosed with cancer so I know how it feels. Bless you, your family and your employees. You are very smart and creative so you will land on your feet. But sometimes change is thrust on us whether we want it or not. New and different things are ahead for you.

As a new quilter, I just discovered you a few months ago and have learned so much from your videos - mainly that I had "permission" to press my seams open!! This is a difficult time for you, but it seems like many fabric retailers are struggling. The Vermont Quilt Festival shut down permanently this year due to inflation, operational expense, vendors that were no longer in business, or they could not afford to participate. Thank you for sharing this news in such a brave and honest fashion, and I'm thankful that you will keep your presence on TH-cam. I don't need more fabric, but it will not stop me from supportuing your efforts to close on a positive financial footing.

Same for me--I found this channel just a few months ago. I was looking for Christmas stocking tutorials, as my adult daughter asked me to make her some for her July birthday. I thought Stephanie's video was very, very helpful and came back to it several times--each step of the way! From there, I found so many more informative and fun videos. I will remain subscribed for all her instructional tutorials, and to see if there's any way I can patronize her "new" business! Wishing Stephanie future happiness when all these difficult tasks are completed, and the weight is lifted!

I'm so sad to hear this Stephanie! It's sickening to hear this terrible news. I have one of your books and I love your designs and fabric choices. This economy is horrible and I'm so sad it has hurt you and your family to this degree. I personally have barely bought any fabric this year. A couple things every few months, because everything else is taking what we have to keep the lights on. Definitely will pray for you and all involved.

Be strong! You've got this! We also spent years building a business just to see it close the end of 2022. It was really tough. Someone told me "there are blessings hidden in the trials." I'm sure that's true, but it doesn't make it any easier for a while. I enjoy your youtube channel very much. Thank you for all you do!

I own a small business and I 1,000% relate to being so scared when faced with numbers that just cannot sustain the business. I had to lay off someone last year the week of Christmas with no notice to him or even really me. I’ve never in my life been more depressed and in a dark place. The best thing I did was tell someone, my best friend, and she literally talked me off the cliff and for a moment or two the ONLY reason I stuck around is to save my children the heartache of their mother making the ultimate decision. It’s a horrible place to be, but you are not alone and you can do very hard things one day at a time.

I’m sorry to hear some parts of your business is closing. You have given lots of ideas and creative tips along the way. As much as I wanted to belong to your Stashing with Stephanie, the duty and postage to bring it across to Canada was too much for my budget.

Every trip to a grocery store or fabric store is a shock at check-out. At 83 I am using more of my stash since inflation too. The only way to fight this is at the voting booth. I LOVE to sew & quilt until the day I can't sit in a chair. So, hang in there, better days are coming, they will just be different!!

Yep…inflation is hurting all of us. But sorry for your situation. It’s always difficult to give up something you love. But maybe you can come back to it one day. IMHO, a lot of “inflation” comes from some greedy businesses/corporate sellers taking advantage and raising their prices much more than they have to. It’s called price gouging and it happens all the time.😡
