Descent Tutorial but the lack of labels/captions, the speed in which the presenter moves so much can be missed and this 20 minute video will probably take hours for some to get through as there is a lot of jumping around and need to replay transitions on "what did they just click" or "I don't see that button on my screen" (A LOT OF THIS) or "did they just do a keyboard shortcut or what just happened".

Finally! I've been waiting for such a video for a very long time, now I can make models that consist of many parts. Note that the assembly 2 workbench needs to be installed, it was not in my freecad by default. at time 0.39 when you click on close then one rectangle appears there, but when i click on same then there is nothing . all previous drawing vanished. And in yours there is showing Sketch under Part_1, and in mine there is showing Body under Unnamed. Please guide me for same. Your video is very helpful for me. @17:51 you select "Drawing Dimensioning" but it is not available in 'my' FreeCad version (?) ... How / where can I find this? Is this a AddOn /Plugin?
Thanks :) This workbench is not in the standard Freecad version. You need to install it github.com/hamish2014/FreeCAD_drawing_dimensioning at the bottom there is a manual for each operating system. Maybe in the future I will make a film or article on this subject. Regards

Thanks :) I do not know another tool. The fact that the plugin is not intuitive and some functions are missing but with the help of additional objects (movie: sprinkler on the channel) or manually (XYZ shifts or rotation relative to the global coordinate system), you can always arrange somehow parts :)

I'm not able to copy a sketch from one to another in version 0.18.
I think the use of constraints in this example is not very "cad like", meaning you put a lot of absolute constraints in. This mean any change in for example size or wall thickness require manual change of several constraints.
It is from my experience better to constrain relative to each part.
But a nice video showing some of the possibilities of freecad.

Keymon to hotkeys, Vokoscreen to screencast. I am using linux (Xubuntu)

Vous vous demandez quand utilisez la contrainte axiale ou la contrainte des circonférences pour positionner le pilier.
La contrainte axiale supprime quatre degrés de liberté tandis que la contrainte des circonférences en supprime deux. Si vous avez choisi précédemment un contrainte de plan sur plan, vous avez déjà éliminé trois degrés de liberté. Il conviendrait donc de choisir la contrainte des circonférences qui en éliminera deux autres. Il restera un degré de liberté : la rotation autour de le l'axe. Ce qui est normal et voulu.
Si vous préférez la contrainte axiale (Quatre degrés de libertés supprimés), normalement la coïncidence de deux points sur le pilier et sur le socle, devrait suffire (Élimination de la translation suivant l'axe du pilier)
C'est une hypothèse...............
Enfin je fais le beau parleur mais pour le moment je n'en suis pas là.
J'utilisais le module assemblage de façon intuitive et je ne m'y retrouvais pas.
Grâce à votre exemple je me suis aperçu qu'il me manquait des boîtes de dialogue pour paramétrer les contraintes.
Peut être une mauvaise installation du module assemblage ? ou un oubli d'activation d'une fonction ?

As for the constraints in the sketches ( in such small projects ) I think it is not worth considering the number of constraints (Because it's almost always possible to make it better and faster as you think it) . If the sketch has 0 degrees of freedom and lights up green, it means that it is okay :) . In the case of the assembly workbench, my main goal is to set elements in relation to each other to perform the assembly drawing. The screws are symmetrical axially it seems to me that the circular edge constraint is enough. Any extra constraints why not for example, set all indentations (per screwdriver) in one direction and lock them in rotation ( but these are just details - looks better on the drawing) . Unfortunately, I do not understand the end with dialogue boxes. This video was recorded on the 0.15 freecada version and the assembly module installed by the console (I use linux)

Hello forgive me not sound very practical with these things are at the beginning to use a 3D printer. The project created with freecad is created in a File FCSTD (.FCStd) as I do it in a STL file (.stl)
For 3d printing you must export from freecad to (Alias mesh format) .obj or .stl format. After this, you can import into an slicer software (Cura or Slic3r, ...) and convert Mesh format to .gcode format. This format is a convenient format file for most 3d printers. I hope it helps. ;-)
Hello, in what version of FreeCAD do you work? I'm working at 0.17 and I do not have the assembly module!
This module is not available in standard versions of Freecad. It should be installed in version 0.17 by addon manager (Tools-addon Menager), in older versions manually: github.com/hamish2014/FreeCAD_assembly2 In this video, I used version 0.16

how do you get to show the commands and mouse and your screen?
I use the KeyMon program. It is only on linux but there is similar software alternativeto.net/software/key-mon/
Can anyone help I'm following this video and as soon as I press sketch the part design turns to sketcher in the workbench window
It will do that since sketcher is used to start the part. When you close the sketcher task, it defaults back to the part design and those menus are active. That is what he was showing from the beginning.
Trying to follow and get too many errors when trying to do these simple things. "Cannot set the datum because the sketch contains conflicting constraints". Any clues? Cheers.
It is difficult for me to say, I would have to see exactly at which constrainst throws this error. From the message, concludes that there are conflicting constraints somewhere. So you are trying to impose a constrainsts on an element that you can not (because it's against the old one constraint).If you did everything in turn, it should be good.... Check the constraints, maybe some extra "appeared"... If you do not find a error, send file freecadcourse@gmail.com
OK cheers. I followed your tutorial and each time I insert those lengths at the very beginning I get these type of errors so I was basically prevented from continuing. I will start again since I had another tutorial open in another FreeCAD tab. Maybe this was the reason. Really glad something like this exists though.

FreeCAD crashes in assembly when importing part. Any way to get around this? Otherwise, my lesson ends here. :(. I have .17 Version.
It is difficult to diagnose what the problem is. The movie was recorded for version 0.16 but 0.17 should also work. Download and test files from freecadscourse.com/free-cad/plastic-casing/.
If there is an error when importing, then it is probably the program's fault. You can try to reinstall Freecad and workbench assembly2.

Well i've learned something here,but unfortunately for me my freecad whenever i attempt to assemble something crash.
Freecad 0.18 something,it probably is my laptop with a lack of ram and video card speed also CPU 1.6ghz.
I'd bet my balls on my laptop..

Music is very distracting and totally not necessary.
I wasted 20 minutes trying to figure the tutorial out.
There should be a ban on the word "tutorial" when no explanations are provided. Hate this "do what i do" stuff, which are 80% of freecad tutorials.
FreeCAD is my first CAD. This video without any explanation was quite useless for me. No explanation of tool or something.
Another useless FreeCad video, with irritating music which is not appropriate for a technical video like this. Narration would have improved this video 200 tmes..
