I don’t understand how people aren’t talking about that Ridley holding the ball in the third, where on earth did he have opportunity to dispose of that
Same as the Geelong player who had both arms pinned and was tackled within 1 second of handling the ball and got pinged
At least Ridley had 1 arm free but didn’t try to get rid of it
at least it was consistent with Touhy getting done for the same thing during the game - both dont have prior though
The umpiring in the 3rd quarter was atrocious
I am a cats supporter and the 3rd quarter felt like a undeserved win. But Geelong still did well all game tbh.

Fair enough if you usher the ball out for a behind but you can’t clearly gain control of the ball and run 5 or 6 metres through the goal! In what world is that a “perplexing decision “? It doesn’t get punished enough, great to see it being paid

I'm a cats fan but the umpiring in the 3rd quarter was a shocker, worst ive seen in a long time. It completely changed the bombers' mindsets which is a shame as it was looking like a close battle until then.

The umpires destroyed there spirit and drive. The 4th quarter is a clear an example of players who were mentally ruined by poor decisions.

I disagree with the AFL on the deliberate rushed behind. It should be the correct decision. The AFL needs to be far less lenient on this rule as well as players seeking to carry the ball over the boundary to avoid a HTB decision - rightly paid against Melbourne and wrongly not paid against Freo.
The Bombers are the most overrated team in the AFL, but did cop some shocking umpiring decisions in this game.
Great game from the cats. Lawson Humphries also looks good. We needed that win!

4:27 if anyone argues that Dempsey pushed, he did but the ball still probably would of been given back to Dempsey because of the ball being run over on purpose.

Not just lately , but all year !
For those whinging about the rushed behind. Dempsey gives up as soon as he sees Menzies charging towards the goal line. To me Menzies expected the tackle to come from Dempsey. He checks over to see if Close is close, but as if Menzies has eyes in the back of his head to see what Dempsey is doing. In that situation you'd expect the tackle to come. It was a win-win situation there for the cats. Massive brain IQ play from Dempsey that just so happened to pay off.

They painted the story beautifully, includes all the moments Ess fans were getting irate. If they didn't include them everyone would be saying "of course afl doesn't show the questionable umpiring", good on them for exposing debatable calls. Ps Hawks fan here, I agreed with a lot of the umps decisions anyway, Cats better on night
Yep. Didn’t show any of the dubious decisions that favoured Essendon in the 2nd quarter. And I think the only Essendon goal they didn’t show was the one from that bs mark in front of goal, where he never once had control. Fox obvs trying to keep a ‘story’ afloat.
Let's be real: The Bummers are an imitation top-four team. They'll be lucky to still be in the top eight by season's end.

Umpires have been terrible all year including some shocking decisions against Geelong and for Essendon in various games. If you start showing every “debatable decision” in highlights of games like they’ve done here you’ll be here a long time. Geelong were the better team, end of story.
