Awesome man! I have a 2002 crew cab super duty long bed 7.3L diesel with only 130K miles. Zero rust. 6” lift 35” tires Fox 2.0 shocks. Installed a tall hard cap for sleeping. That’s my Ultimate hunting rig. We took it out The Midwest many many times. I tow a small 5 X 8 inclosed V nose trailer for all our equipment and gear.
Sweet truck man ! As a Tacoma owner I agree it isn’t the most powerful tow machine but for my run and gun style whitetail, moose and bear it works perfectly since I don’t tow anything with it and it’s pretty maneuverable in the right trails. But as you said it’s there to serve a purpose and I’m glad you found a truck that does ! Keep on truckin
Congratulations 🎉 Dan on quite the setup. I really love the bed area accessories that you have going on from the DeckD system to the Thule truck 🛻 tent ⛺️. Both would be great out on public land chasing those bugling beast. The tires and rims are great too. The only thing I would add would be after market off road bumpers with a winch system. It could save your tail in a pinch, protect your truck through rock and tree 🌲 plus it looks so much better than the giant bling chrome bumpers. But that could take you over budget. Perhaps next year. Once again happy for you Dan what a practical upgrade over the Tacoma. Which is more nimble off road but can’t carry all your gear as well as a 2500HD
Ha, Dan I’m you 30 yrs later!!! My whole life has revolved around athletics, well until 9 yrs ago when I got hit by a car. Short story, to not fall into a pit of depression, I took up archery and with very limited success bow hunting. I initially would sleep in my truck, a 08 Suburban. But I dialled it up a notch and did a BDS lift, rebuilt and supercharged the engine, built a deck inside with two drawers, and yes, the ruggedized Tepui Kukenam 3 on the roof. Luv the setup but let’s face it, mid 60’s with a bum leg, makes for a hard time packing that tent down. But hey, whatever it takes right. Pain is just weakness leaving the body!
Man, id’a gone with a turtleback style off road trailer with the tent mounted up top! Has the kitchen, water, and spots for gear, leaving the truck bed open for bikes n stuff. Light enough to be pulled with a small car and compact enough to go anywhere your truck can go!! With the reach Dan has, I can’t imagine one of the companies wouldn’t have given him a heck of a discount for the exposure!!
Do you have a link?? I’d love to check out what you’re talking about! I’m putting pen to paper and had something very similar to what Dan built. Saw your comment here, and would like to learn more! Thanks 🙏🏽
I have an 08 SLT 2500 HD 6L on a 6” lift and 35s. I like your idea of the storage and tent but I would personally build it lower tent height like right off the bed sides, and farther back so I can fit a slip tank in the front, and still have bed storage as the fuel mileage is balls. Great build
I like the build, and have the same desires, but know very well that despite the convenience of a roof top tent, you will really hate it if you have to use it in bad or even just wet weather. Once it's wet you can't pack it up without mildew or infiltration to the inside when its wet. It's noisey and may disintegrate in severe wind. Snow and ice rock havok on the shape, zippers etc when re-collapsing and redeploying it. The rest of the time it's great.
If you dont mind me asking, how many miles are on that truck. And, do you ever feel like the 3/4 ton is too big, fuel inefficient, or heavy? I ask, becasue I am in the same boat. I live on the cost and want to head west more often. Currently only go once a year. I have a 2013 ram 2500 gasser 4X4 and am trying to talk myself out of a new one.
Curious, is that a Thule rack also. I’ve been looking at the same tent but undecided on what rack to use. Thanks and love the videos. Headed out in the morning to find bugling bulls!
Hey Dan I have a quick question. Did you take a loan out for the truck and build or did you save up and pay cash? Sweet build I'd love a set up like that someday!
Dan’s out for the month chasing bugles. But he paid cash. Paying cash for things like vehicles is a good thing to do if you can. Or if you choose to finance it, finance it because you had a better plan for your money, and could of paid cash. Hope that helps 🙏
of all he things guys would need to know about this system, why was price excluded? You mentioned your budget a couple times but never addressed a key factor in any purchase: COST.
Let’s not forget to mention Dirt Head Dave doing the work on the truck! That’s awesome!

Very well through out truck and setup.Ive been upgrading my Tundra to a rack and roof top ten from the camper shell I currently have.
The build came out awesome! Good luck on your hunts this fall.
Beautiful. I got similar with my Hilux. Simple set up for the best lifestyle
Right on!
Best of luck and awesome build!
Congratulations! Truck is amazing!
Nice build....Next tires should be GY Wrangler Duractracs 285-75/18. 10 ply. Best all around tire on the market....NO contest!
Is this the Super Duty Tremor factory tire? I wonder if they'd fit this Silverado 2500 on stock wheels and suspension?
That thing is awesome!!
Been waiting on this video, awesome truck Dan!
Does it have a Is a cable witch
Nice build Dan! I still love my Tacoma though. My son has a very similar build with his Tacoma and loves it.
Looks awsome brother 👍
I dig it! I’m contemplating something similar with my pickup.
Man that is a beast of a truck I’m definitely looking for something like that I love it
Awesome video buddy and setup what have you added since this video
Sorry if I missed it but what year and engine. Thanks
Do you have lockers on your 4x4
Minus the lift kit and tires, what was the cost of everything else. I already have the Readylift. Great choice!

Hey Dan, love the build!
Curious as to what pelican case your using for your bow?
I would like to do something similar to my 04 powerstroke
Winch?

@@ElkShape thank you, I missed that the first time I watched the video.
I know you said you wanted a 3/4 ton. Just out of curiosity what made you overlook a tundra? I love mine.

What year is it? Or were you just more concerned about it being 3/4 ton?
