The last few days Nick has been hammering Brock Purdy for blowing a 10 point 4th quarter lead while also throwing an interception late in the game. But Joe Burrow does this exact same thing and he moves up to row 2 of Mahomes Mountain and is praised by Nick to the high heavens.

it's hilarious that nick calls purdy's supporting cast "avengers" because the only guy who has been COMPLETELY CARRIED by "avengers" so to speak in his career is patrick mahomes, through andy reid, an offensive line that is dominant and gets to hold without flags particularly in key moments, the 2nd greatest TE of all-time, receivers that are the fastest in the league who are schemed WIDE open and have the highest YAC in the league, and most importantly, refs that bail him out in the most crucial times of the game. NO ONE in NFL history has received as much help as patrick mahomes. alex smith led the league in passer rating in 2017 before mahomes took over and won the division. chad henne has come in and won playoff games.

49ers are bottom 3 in seperation (receiver stat), lead the league in drops at a much higher rate than the chiefs last year (receiver stat), bottom 5 o-line, and have a dropped touchdown in 4 of their 5 games, 3 of which the lost by 6 or less. All of this and Brock Purdy is still statistically a top 5 qb. Brock Purdy has kept the Niners competitive this year while the team is dragging him down, as of right now.

Its INSANE that Wildes & Brou act like the niners have accomplished anything with Purdy that they haven’t without him. Nicks point years ago was that you could throw any starter level qb there, and they would work. Hes been proven right and now they forget about the jimmy g success.
They have gotten to the same places, in very, very, very different ways. Purdy actually elevates the offense. Jimmy G managed it.
Shanahan literally never had a come from behind victory in SF before Purdy. He had 2 in the playoffs last year alone.

On top of that, Purdy hasn't, and doesn't play like a system QB, really the opposite. There really isn't an argument left to keep him out of the top 10 QBs right now.

He has managed to get the most out of a couple of guys, but there's a long list of QBs that didn't work out.
He runs a good system and I can't think of someone who is actually available AND better to replace him, but he has shown himself to be very stubborn and/or unable to make adjustments in situations that have routinely bit him in the a**.
That to me is more the root cause of the Niners being unable to cash in on the recent teams they've had more than any individual QB.
@@zackhurwitz9441When they give purdy the credit in success, and shannahan the blame in failure, it is ignoring the success before hand. The example in this specific show was the redzone efficiency. When the scheme was tilted towards passing off of PA, purdy put up elite numbers. But now its more straight up passing and hes struggling to be anywhere near as efficient. Which is what the elite QBs have been playing with. Lets see how Purdy does after a full season of that treatment.

This show has often referenced the concept of a “sophomore slump”, where young QBs, after getting confident from their first year, and as more footage of them comes out, struggle in their second year of play. Given that Purdy played less than half of a full season in his first year, this can basically be considered his sophomore year, and I would expect he’ll struggle a bit more than last year. Yet, will Nick give Purdy any amount of grace the same way he would any other promising young QB? Somehow I think not. This might be an infuriating year from Nick in regards to his Purdy takes.

To explain why Purdy essentially looks the same this year compare to last but the 49ers haven't been. Is because Purdy was never that impactful of a QB. He's just a guy doing his job on this team but is not the force multipler as some people believe. This is why he wasn't getting the a lot of credit last year and is not much to blame this year.

Aside from the offensive performance, or lack there of, against Baltimore last season, every single one of the 49ers losses since Purdy took over has been majorly due to the defensive play… or lack there of. Purdy won the Super Bowl… until it was out in the defenses hands.
I don't know if they had all 3 last season when they played KC, but all 3 were there when they played the Ravens on Christmas and lost, so I don't know what's with "unless playing against Mahomes".

Purdy is better than Nick portrays him to be and not as good as many 49er fans believe him to be. Shanahan effed up big time when he let his ego get in the way of bringing Brady on board. He wanted to win one his way, and had Brady come on board and won everybody would be giving Brady the credit. Had the 49ers picked up Brady when he left the Pats they might very well be sitting on 2 or more SB wins at this point. Now I feel like their window is closing.
You are so right on that. Kyle’s ego is one of the big reasons the 49ers struggled at times. That Tampa Bay championship could’ve been the niners. They would’ve had at least one with Brady like you said. They should get rid of Kyle and bring in Brady. He knows how to finish.

Wright always a hater. How is it Purdy is ranked 7th in QBR above Hurts/13, Stafford/18, Love/23, Goff/24, Herbert/26. Wright's B-Buddy Lawrence 19. Defense and weak O-Line are problems.

Purdy, every QB, has to and will have their games that they lose when they had the lead. Same for comeback games after playing not good earlier in the game. Playoff games and ugly games, win or lose. last season Purdy had his bad game against the ravens, should have had a come back drive against the browns, came back in the second half of both divisional and conference games… now this year he has had his games where they lost after having the lead. Idle you ask me, while still being a great QB, he is hitting those check marks in great time so that he has all the experience he needs.

Comparing the stats from a total of 21 games to a total of 10 games is in itself a bad faith argument.. not to mention if you wait for them to have losses and then compare it to when he had no losses. Of course the stats will look like that.. It's how Nick uses stats disingenuously to try and prove a point that he can't prove otherwise.. he would never do this type of stat manipulation with someone like trevor, because his golden boy would look like one of the worst qbs in the past 3 years
