      I would have gone with emerald tree skinks, although availability is an issue. I have interacted with the pair at Clint's Reptile Room (you don't hold them, they climb on you!) I would definitely have them if I could find them.

    I have a Northern blue tongue skink that I absolutely adore. She is the best. I almost got a monkey tailed skink but decided to go with a leachianus gecko instead because from research that I did monkey tailed skinks should live in at least a pair. I didn't want to deal with possible fighting within the pair then have to separate and have two enclosures next to each other and making sure they don't get depressed/lonely. I love my leachie though. He is the cutest little guy 😍

Then I lived in Australia for 4 years and had wild blue-tongued skinks in my backyard and along the hillside walk path to the street below. Plus, there were garden skinks everywhere. I can't wait to have space for a blue tongue!! They are amazing. But side note I've got a video idea. Top 5 snakes for tub/bin setups. (More of an individual tub setup rather than in a rack system).
    Or furthermore, snakes that would thrive (or at least do better) in a tub compared to aquarium because of humidity requirements, sense of security you don't always get with glass, etc... Another factor is also that the snake can fit comfortably in bins made in sizes that are widely available
    Just an idea that popped into my head after planning on how I'm going to sneak my hognose into my college dorm this fall haha. Love what you do keep it up

  • @breezexotics
    @breezexotics 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I just need to add this bit of information because I've had to do this with multiple people recently promoting PTS to their audience who don't know any better.
    I would not recommend PTS for majority of keepers. There is not much in terms of care info out there for them and what there is is actually a lot harder to find. This species is commonly underheated and fed the wrong diet. This leads people to believe they are friendly and easy to care for pets similar to a bts. As someone who personally owned PTS no matter how much time spent with them they continued to be flighty and skittish animals, particularly nippy and would musk when handled, all because I kept them at the proper temps. When kept at the common misconception of "room temp" they were calm and mellow. I also made sure to give them their proper diet of 80% snail protein (something most people can't do or meet).
    I fell victim to a lot of misinformation thinking that they'd be an amazing pet just like a bluey but after doing more research and owning them for a couple years I realized they were not what I had expected and rehomed them.
    So for anyone considering PTS the only place for proper research is forums and scholar articles on wild specimens. You may get lucky with a docile one but a proper heated and fed pts will most likely always be a more flighty skink and not the best for handling. I'd recommend bts or fire skinks instead, or even monkey tails if you don't mind sharp nails or bad attitudes

    Monkey tail skinks are one of my favorites. I have two or them now and they're both absolute sweethearts. They really do not live up to the reputation everyone gives them. I can let them both right up against my face and not worry about a bite or anything. Just watch out for those claws, absolutely brutal sometimes lol

    I’m my local pet store just got in some Emerald Tree Skinks. Very personable coming up to the glass of their enclosure, but I know they were just looking for buggos 😂. Super cute little dudes.

    I love reptiliatus’ croc skinks! They’re so cool, and I kind want one but I don’t feel it justified to pay so much for a short lived reptile that hates handling. Maybe some day...

    thinking of getting a ball python or dumeril’s boa in a couple months...vids for ball pythons are abundant but not many on dumeril’s, would be cool if you did a setup guide for them and showed what your enclosure looks like! keep up the great content!

      @@shleed ikr I have been looking for a sand fish skink for a year and a I can’t find one so now I’m getting a fire skink. Side note the best skink is the peters skink it’s more friendly than blue things and it’s small but it’s very rare

    Cunningham skinks are amazing, I had three, they were docile, very easy to handle, breed every year, eat insects/ fruit/ veg/ loved grapes the most, good sized and best of all trainable to come on command, very easy to look after. Amazing you should get some.

    YAAAAAS, Pink Tongue repreSENT! I do want to give you a heads up that their taxonomic name is currently Hemisphaeriodon gerardii, but I think they were considered Cyclodomorphus in the recent past. Thanks for adding them to the list! I almost couldn't believe it! (Also thankss🐍)

    🐍 Peter's Banded Sand Skinks (Scincopus fasciatus) are the best and if they would just produce skinklets, that would be awesome. The are extremely difficult to breed, but are communal. 🐍
