That last play blew me away. He gets doubled, fakes passing it to the open man who just lost a defender, guides the defense to start guarding the players getting opened up, and then finally chucks it across the entire court to the only guy free enough to sink a 3. That is genius-level stuff.

That pass was borderline ingenious. Everything leading up to the pass, and about the pass itself is already said, but what blows my mind is not the sole precision of the pass, its that Jokic purposefully repositioned AG a foot the the left, moving him a few inches more away from the 2 oncoming defenders, and when I looked closely, it looks it was just about an inch or so from the blockers reach that he missed the block or at least interrupting the ball. it was poetry in motion...

It was a long, looping cross-court pass--you might almost call it lazy. But he knew EXACTLY where every Blazer defender was, or would be when his pass arrived. One defender actually fell over trying to reverse himself. I'll give the Clippers pass the nod because of the time pressure. But the Blazers pass--just incredible.

I'm a Suns fan so I have no love or hate for the Nuggets but as a basketball fan, to me he's either #1 or #2 right now for the MVP discussion. He way he raise up a team that should be down there with ORL and Detroit fighting for the last places on the NBA inside the Top3 on the draft.
People talk about Curry,LeBron,Giannis,Embii as contender and i always said... Curry? The Warriors can hang to middle of the table without him with Green and now Klay, Bucks can hang with Holiday and Middleton, Philly hang without Embii. Lakers can hang without LeBron.
Jokic doesn't have the luxury of having 2,3,4 all stars on his roster. Even fully healthy the Nuggets only have him as All NBA caliber player. Jamal is great, but he's not Klay,Green,Hollday,Middleton,Simmons,Anthony Davis,Gobert or Mitchell or CP3 or Harden,Kyire.
All the others candidates got some serious backup on their roster. Meanwhile Joker doesn't have anybody to space the floor for him to make it easier on the paint for him or someone to grab some attention away from him. He have to deal with double and triple teams while also being fronted before even receiving the basketball.

You are mentioning Middleton but he only gained stardom after Giannis made his name. Ja Morant is even impressive because he is carrying a young team together with himself.

A valuable video that teaches you about "trusting your #1 option". Despite Denver being down by double digits, it is the coach's job to not forget their core players which in this case is Jokic. And when your #1 option player is this TALENTED, it helps the coach so much to work around it. Of course there will be days when your best player can't deliver but that's what makes coaching a challenging job in general.
It is definitely like Chess but the variables becomes less and less when your plays are perfectly balanced for your core players while it feeds the rest of the role players.
