I've always thought that Lion of Judas came out just a few years too early and was ahead of its time when it came to that style of hardcore. If it had come out in like 2015 or later it would have been a hit.
Not crazy, this is one of the most underrated metal albums of our time. Press press press, I play you guys every town I tour. 31 now been a fan since MySpace 15 years old
Awesome podcast! This band was one of my absolute favorites back in highschool and it was super exciting to find out about the re-issue and the vinyl/merch and stuff. Grabbed myself a hoodie and somewhat regretting I never grabbed a vinyl. Thanks for this interview! I never heard Zak talk about the band before, and it was super insightful and he seems like he's happy with the legacy the band has left. Hoping for a reunion someday.
I am a straight dude. But have been very pro LGBTQ+ since as young as I can remember. Partially due to being bullied and had alot of gay friends, I got called alot of slurs. And the "who's the fucking f***t now?" Lyric always hit me so hard. It's shameful how many people heard the word and completely misinterpreted the intent of it thinking Elysia didn't like gay people and all that. They were ahead of their time in alot of ways. That's not to say some of the lyrics did not age well and pretty "incel-energy". But most bands were at that time. But awesome he's addressed the lyrics and gave context and not a fan of alot of them.
I remember one of zaks aim away message back in the day talked about how the lyrics were easy to write about hating women but how he loved his girlfriend he was dating at the time .
Thank god this album is finally on Spotify.
Just found out. YES
My wife and I’s first date was Elysia/KOTA/Impending Doom and Molotov Solution. Show was a banger
Nice! I toured with Molotov and Impending Doom way back in the day.
@@heavymetalhistorypodcast impending doom were some of the nicest guys I’ve ever met

i miss Elysia. What a band man

The remaster came out perfect.
The fact that Zak mentions BTBAM twice just makes him so much cooler to me. So glad to hear from this dude and to have Masochist on streaming.

Great to know about the History.
Impressed by his All Out War shirt. Their brother band End Of One was one of the earliest deathcore bands.
Greatest memory is seeing them at chain reaction. Thanks for this!

EHLIESHA.
Elysia is the best deathcore band. Also ABACABB and Forgetting Tomorrow are behind them.
There's honestly a lot of really good top deathcore Bands, I'm having a hard time picking a favorite
I will stand up for those whove suffered!!! Free therapy man
Killing Grounds is equally as great. Please remaster that too! And do cds with the OG cover! They’ll sell out QUICK.
