This song is "different" from their more popular songs. It's fast paced with a lot going on. The changes, transitions, and breakdowns are just crazy to put it mildly. The music is just insane in terms of technicality. All the members are just going ham on their individual instruments. Even Saiki's vocal was on another level. Her fast singing at an almost rapping like paced was outstanding. A lot of people had to listen to this song repeatedly, such as myself, to fully comprehend and appreciate this masterpiece. Great reaction. Glad to see they have become one of, if not, your favorite band. They have become mine for sure. I've seen many new bands over the years and none has captivated my attention as Band-Maid has done in a very long time. They are truly special.
I'm still so happy I was introduced to this band earlier in year, I'd heard of them but never fully checked them out. A lot of strong talent seems to come out of Japan that western bands should take note of.
I'll find a way to drag them to a live show...so many times my friends unsure about bands I like but as soon as they see them live they tend to change their minds.

I didn't see the lyrics as dark. I saw, "Rise from the dead" that's a good thing, "Awake your potential" that's uplifting, "Let's go. It's showtime." very encouraging.

About the lyrics and the furious pace: This is created as an opening theme for an anime series. Characters are trapped in a world involving lots of fighting with monsters and darkness trying to survive and get out. There is even a character in a maid dress who looks a LOT like Miku and seems so helpless, but when confronted by a monster, it ends up dead. Anyway, Kanami was already toying with the basic melody idea and they were asked to come up with a song, which would be the theme song for Log Horizon season 3. And here it is.
You need to learn about them to understand their theme. When they first started their production company didn’t want them to do their stuff their way. They released a song they did and changed companies to have more control on their songs. Now they write and arrange their own music. Most of their songs address what was past and look out for us now.😡😡😡
@@bethrobinson94 sadly (for those of you in the north) they've only played in London in the UK so far, normally as part of a short European tour, just 4-5 dates or so. If their fanbase grows they might add more dates, but they are just as conservative in the USA, where tours are equally short - and they have more fans there. I know what you mean about going to London being a pain though, and I live quite near the place.

Upbeat music with dark lyrics is not all that unusual with Band-Maid, and this is one reason why I like to be able to ignore the lyrics by not understanding Japanese. I like "feel good" music, and so I like knowing that if I'm gonna listen to some Band-Maid, then I'm sure to be feeling good afterward.

Not sure if you follow Log Horizon, but Different is going to be the OP for season 3 starting next year. Different was actually written two years ago with that in mind. Miku, the lyricist, read the visual novels and tried to connect up the lyrics to some of the themes. I've been trying to catch up with the anime lately. 2020 was the year I got into Japanese bands (thanks to a lot of subscribers) and I have a feeling the trend will continue into 2021 🤘
