    I have searched numerous videos on how the compressor speed is controlled. Your video has helped. Is it safe to assume that the compressor communicates with the thermostat and when it gets close to the set point the compressor will begin to slow down. Thanks

    Been a technician in manufacturing for years. Everything has changed to vfd for a reason. Everyone is taking about cost of repair. Yes it's more expensive to repair. However anything ran by a vfd does not spend its lifetime running at maximum speed. Variable frequency drives send lower or higher frequencies as needed to speed or slow the motor. A single stage or 2 stage only runs at two speeds one being max. Running lower power generally increases lifespan.

      Good points But the savings are great and normally these units last 10years. The older manufacturing were quality products but now a days you will be lucky if VS or non VS last you 10years without giving issues.

      I have a single speed heat pump that has been running for 25 years at least...( with minimal repairs) you cannot have machines like this anymore...

      @HowToDoitright  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yea definitely no way but the other fact is that the older machines consumed more power so you pay more in electricity and now a days you save that money but spend on repairs lol

    Good video. Thanks for not having annoying unnecessary music in the background. And I like your accident.

    Another benefit is that your wallet will be a lot lighter when repairs are needed. Don't forget, it'll prob only be 5x the cost to repair a variable HVAC over a single stage.

      A L Again...there is a 10year warranty in this on parts so NO worries about that. These units are mainly for people who can afford it. Not for people who cry to spend $ on repairs when needed. Anything and everything breaks as they age so be ready for it but saying that these unit break more often is incorrect. Infact these units runs longer then basic HVAC models as they tend to run not as aggressive and harshly as single stage.
      Trust me I did a lot of research before buying. It’s been about a year now and I’m very happy with my unit.

      @@HowToDoitright Good luck, just stating the facts that repair cost (including labor costs, not just parts), are very expensive on two stage and variable stage systems (compared to a single stage system).

      I see your point but honestly the difference between them is the controlling and communications. They have microprocessor smart boards and not traditional relay. When microprocessor board goes bad those needs to be changed out as a whole. Honestly it’s more easier to fix these system because it’s like plug and play for new board and programming is by push of a few buttons which are in manual. I installed my system myself and did everything flawlessly Ahl...the repairman charged a lot because they act as if this is so hard plus they figure when homeowner can buy an expensive equipment they can pay for repairs. It’s like changing oil on a BMW VS PRIUS. Both procedure is same but the name of car spells out the cost of oil change. Very unfair.

    And, when the variable speed module goes bad and the manufacture only sells the motor with the module that's $$$$$$$$$$ part to buy.

      10 years seems like a short time after they have elapsed like they did with my Lennox unit. I just spent $1500 getting it fixed. :/

      I know but that what they warranty for

    • @usergvhhyu1223
      @usergvhhyu1223 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly....also...call for a warranty claim on a part and the manufacturer would find 7 different reasons on why is not covered. I recently purchased a home, one unit is a basic system from 2012, the second unit is from 2018 all electronics and sensors....guess which one constantly breaks. Complexity means more repairs and the manufacturer hold you hostage of proprietary technologies and parts. Get ready to get a pocket hit with the repair and parts bill.

    Actually r410 systems, vacuum should ideally be pulled down to 250 microns.

    • @HowToDoitright
      @HowToDoitright  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the more vacuum you pull the better but the legal standard is 500microns

    In many US states it is illegal for a home owner to use even a certified technician hired to install an HVAC system if they are not a licensed contractor. The tech could be fined and the home owner as well for knowingly hiring someone who is not a contractor. If the homeowner is not EPA 608 certified he cannot even put gauges on the unit legally. I know this because Im a licensed Contractor and an EPA 608 Transition and Recovery Instructor and Proctor. Be careful

    • @HowToDoitright
      @HowToDoitright  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No he is actually licensed. Good point though

      yeah bro, in socal, 85% of the so called hvac techs are 1/2 assed installers playing contractor. they water down the industry and nobody enforces the laws. most of these guys don't even have a epa license. But they can install it whether it works or not when they are done.....

      Coming from a Licensed Contractor playing the fear factor in a lame attempt to scare you from knowledge and protect his turf...nationally....AND interfere with what you do in your own castle. "Be Careful": The Federal HVAC Certification Police is out to get you. RIDICULOUS.
