- Many may mock Durant and Irving's time in Brooklyn, while others will ponder "what ifs." What if Kyrie had received the vaccine? What if Durant's foot was smaller? What if Harden had not requested a trade? What if Durant had not sustained a knee injury during a remarkable hot streak? These questions will be asked for years to come, given Brooklyn's outstanding talent at its peak. When Durant and Irving are retired and reminiscing about their careers, it is likely that the "what ifs" will surface in their minds.
The Nets are now in a "retooling" phase, rather than a rebuild. Unlike the years before Durant and Irving arrived in Brooklyn, the team has an abundance of draft picks and an extensive roster of established, high-caliber rotation players. Considering Marks' past success, there is no reason to believe that Brooklyn will not remain competitive in the years to come.
However, as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving depart, so does any possibility of the Nets contending for a championship. For a team that has been a prominent contender for the past three seasons, resetting is a difficult reality.

The moral of this experiment pretty much boils down to egos and injuries. Injuries ruined things early on and then egos and selfishness from guys especially kyrie buried the teams chances. Just a few weeks ago this team was the 2nd team in the east. Kind of insane how these guys blew things up again

Thanks for the video. In those four years, no finals appearance let alone conference finals. They had 3 coaches during that time. During that time, you have the Bucks (won in 2021), Heat and Celtics reached the NBA finals.

Most of the time KD gets gets injured it is because somebody falling on his leg. And it's not like a light fall I mean they are folding his ankle hyperextending his knee and tugging at his Achilles. I am not saying it's intentional I'm only saying it's unfortunate.

There is no loyalty in any of those superstars. Yes, they went to the team they want to be successful in but KD is injury prone and if it wasn't for that injury against the Raptors back in 2019, he would've stayed in Golden State and just chase rings with Curry and company. Harden is tough and tried to play thru injuries for the Nets in the playoffs, but once that season ended he knew he had to work twice as hard to get back there. And when they got swept, he demanded a trade because he is running out of time to be in his prime. Kyrie is also hit with injuries, not sure if Giannis purposely didn't move to avoid the contact but it changed everything. They got the talents with KD playing with Kyrie or Harden, but like the video said they were rarely playing together.

It's a failure on KD and Kyrie's legacy. They came here, wanted Nash, wanted to give up all the talent for Harden. Then Kyrie became a sometimes player, Harden quit, KD wanted out and it all became about ego and money. They wanted to manipulate and control and organization thinking they were LeBron not realizing they're just a bunch of Robin's pretending to be Batman.

They can’t save Ben Simmons because of his nagging injuries, Steve Nash was hired as a scapegoat and he was let go, KD and Kyrie left (though Kyrie was still a head case not just becoming an anti-vaxxer but his inexcusable anti-semetic video that the NBA and Adam Silver isn’t having it), KD and Kyrie left for separate teams (Kyrie to the Mavs, KD to the Suns in a blockbuster trade), and now, this team is hanging on for dear life not to go in the Play-in Tournament. The Nets are arguably one of the biggest collapses in NBA history. Remember when the media said The Nets are the team to beat in the East, what happened? Whatever happened to “Championship or bust?”

I feel like to win a championship, you don't need like the best player in the world or even build a team of superstars, a team can win a championship if they work hard, if they work together, and of course they need a reliable leader. I don't think every superteam wins championships because chemistry is also something they need to have. My 2022 Miami Heat was not the best in everyones eyes because we didn't have a star studded team. But I am very happy to say that we proved the haters wrong.
You need your big 3 to play. They take up 80 to 90% of the salary cap. That leaves nothing to get good role players. Phoenix will be in the same boat as Nets. Booker, KD, Ayton and CP3 need to all be on the court.
