    I have asthma and allergies. It drives me mad cause my voice will just randomly change through out the day. I recently started as a walk on for a Disney Plus series and while I wasn’t speaking on it, it started to terrify me. My voice kept straining and going hoarse and just getting more hoarse while straining as I spoke. Even if I went ages without speaking. There were flowers near the set, lilies which I’ve been told are high for pollen. Buts one times it just happens randomly and I hate it! I’m aware of it happening and I start sounding like a boy who’s voice is breaking. For an aspiring actress I’d rather not have the issue that could break my career :(

    I don't know why people keep doing this, but "nasally voice" is incorrect, "nasally" is an adverb, it's "nasal voice"...

    • @TheVoiceofConfidence
      @TheVoiceofConfidence  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@LeelooMinai I try and talk in the way people complain about the issues they are having. So that’s why the term I use. I am not an English teacher. I try and speak in words and phrases that make sense to my audience. Otherwise it would be too technically correct and over some people’s heads. This is just one tiny example. Thanks for being the English grammar detective for us ! 🙏🏻

      @@TheVoiceofConfidence To be honest, I don't buy this explanation - I am pretty sure that "nasal voice" would be understood the same way, the information it carries does not change.

    What does it mean when a person can't feel the nose vibrations for any sounds at all? I tried both sides of my nose and didn't feel anything at all. Though, considering my nose is almost constantly clogged year-round, I'd be surprised if air was going in or out at any given time!

    Your content is really interesting. Just stumbled on it by chance. As a professional film producer I spotted something odd: Your makeup has a slight yellow tint going on. Especially when comparing to your natural skin tone as can be seen when looking at your hands and neck. Either the LED lighting of your studio has a bit of a green tint that needs to be corrected with a slight magenta filter or you should try out other makeup brands or shades.

    The question I have that I'd be really curious to know the answer to- if people have a blocked up nose sound, it means that certain sounds have to let air through the nose somewhat. But do I understand correctly that vowels and plosive consonants, for example, should not have any air/sound coming through the nose in order to have a clear voice?
    If so, the question of singing which is also affected by all these happenings... Can we modify levels of nasality? Aka not just have soft palate fully closed or open, but partially? If not, how do people get only a little bit of so called nasal resonance in singing ?

    • @TheVoiceofConfidence
      @TheVoiceofConfidence  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh dear. I want you to know this - Lauren it’s not a given or something that nature gave you. ( unless there is pathology causing either) the Lisp usually gets corrected with speech therapy at a young age and would never be a problem again if corrected early. However if your parents didn’t do that - then you can always get help and correct it now. It’s never too late. It’s simply tongue placement and habit. The nasality is similar. It’s something you have picked up from either being sick a lot ( like me) or from culture and conditioning. Perhaps one of your parents speak with a nasal tone too ? This is an easy fix with voice coaching. I did it too. Breathing issues can cause nasality. But you can minimise it when you know how. Have faith. !
