  • In this video I explore the CityCenter area in Washington DC. This little part of DC is right next to Chinatown (see my previous video) and feels very very shiny. In the Palmer Alley and surrounding area you’ll find all the luxury brand showrooms, and some condos and rental apartments.
I hope you enjoy this walk. Please like and subscribe.

    Wikipedia:
CityCenterDC is a mixed-use development consisting of two condominium buildings, two rental apartment buildings, two office buildings, a luxury hotel, and public park in downtown Washington, D.C. It encompasses 2,000,000 square feet (190,000 m2) and covers more than five city blocks. The $950 million development began construction on April 4, 2011, on the site of the former Washington Convention Center-a 10.2-acre (4.1 ha) site bounded by New York Avenue NW, 9th Street NW, H Street NW, and 11th Street NW. Most of the development was completed and open for business by summer 2015. The luxury hotel Conrad Washington, DC, opened in February 2019.
The development is one of the largest 21st-century downtown projects in the United States, and the largest urban development on the East Coast of the United States until the December 2012 groundbreaking of Manhattan's Hudson Yards. It has been described as "a modern-day Rockefeller Center" by Hector Falconer at The New York Times. The Washington Post architectural critic Steven Pearlstein, writing in 2003, said the project will "reshape" downtown D.C.
Retail Tenants: Many high-end retail stores are found in CityCenter, including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Hermès, Burberry, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Hugo Boss, David Yurman, Loro Piana, Morgenthal Frederics, Kate Spade New York, Zadig & Voltaire, Carolina Herrera, Allen Edmonds, Longchamp, Arc'teryx, TUMI, Alexis Bittar, Canali, Paul Stuart, Jo Malone London, VINCE., Caudalie, Bulgari, and Moncler. A Tesla dealership opened in 2017.
A Tiffany & Co. store opened in March 2019 in the Conrad hotel.

Beautiful city! Clean, well manicured, well ordered. Street level is wonderful… planters, street furniture, flowers, retail and restaurants, pedestrian ways and parks and plazas. A city that has it all and ties it all together very well! Shows it’s world power and influence without boasting and bragging about… it just is.

unfortunately they have homeless camps/tents up in the middle of downtown. this looks bad being that D.C is the capital of the whole US

True. Sort of says a lot about the nation as a whole… huh… or, the decline of a once great nation, in spite of the beauty of its capital city… or, in spite of the beautiful parts of any city or town in what touts itself as the greatest nation on the planet, for that matter. Like you say, if the nation’s capital has a homelessness, educational, drug, and crime problem, etc. then… societal, and as a consequence national ethical and moral bankruptcy are the roots of the whole problem, in my humble opinion. America will never be truly great until it’s truly honest with itself… but it seems that’s a slippery pole to climb to reach that top.

There's a federal mandate that no building in DC can be taller than the Washington Monument (555 ft).

All of the buildings you see in this video are less than 15 years old. This area of DC has gone thru an unbelievable transformation. Not gentrification just a transformation. What's not show is all the condos on top of the stores. Very expensive.
