    Also, I totally agree about everything being a double LP now. Too expensive, too heavy, and takes up too much room in the collection.

    Some great finds! I have the Sade box set that came out a couple years ago, and it's one of my prize possessions. Her music is MADE for vinyl. Bringing It All Back Home is another stellar find. I have a stereo early press of that (not a first, but it's early). It would be great to have it in mono.

    Holy crap, that Dolly Parton album is heavy! So beautifully crafted with some outstanding musicianship. I'm definitely going to be hunting down a clean copy of that album!

    So much good stuff in this one, I feel as though I should have been taking notes.
    Don't know where you stand on Beck, but his last album Hyperspace is one of my most played vinyls during this whole what have you. I truly feel he had the vinyl format in mind when he wrote that album and it just sounds fantastic IMHO.
    Also, I was always fascinated by those inner sleeves with all the other releases on them as a kid and found the variety of music offered to be amusing.
    Great stuff!

    The loudness war is strange to me. Whoever does the mixing should know you can only go so loud before distortion and stop before then. However so many made that error.

    Hi Robert. So many people return due to a slight ding or dent on a cover or due to the sound as you discovered. Amazon has to push out all their returns. Still really amazing what you picked up, really incredible. Enjoy. Steve

    • @RobertFithen
      @RobertFithen  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Black Crowes is the only one that sounded bad. I read that some people actually returned the Best of Sade because the song "Sweetest Taboo" had crackling and distortion in it...... That's the rain sound effect. LOL

    Robert, you scored some great stuff there. Dig the Whiskeytown, especially for $6. Great Dylan album, especially to get the mono version...and for $6. WOW! Even though you aren't the biggest Van Morrison fan, that's a phenomenal album. Give it a few spins and live with it a while and see what you think. I hate to hear that about "The Black Crowes" album. I wonder if that was pressed at United Pressing Plant? The Best of Sade is a sweet pickup as well. Very nice grab, indeed. You make great points on the album length debate. Honestly, when I made my first two albums, there was no care in the world as to fitting into a time box any less than 70 minutes. When we did the 20th Anniversary vinyl release of my first album, we ended up in that quandary. The album, as it was recorded, was too long to fit onto one LP, so we decided to add 4 bonus tracks and it became a 2 LP set, which I ended up having cut and pressed at Erika Records, a boutique pressing plant that specializes in smaller runs with a keen eye for quality control and I couldn't have been happier. Our next album we are working on, we are being mindful as far as timing is concerned, and it will most likely be a single LP just to be a little more cost conscientious. Good to see you grabbed that Dolly album. I agree, her 70's RCA stuff is storytelling at it's best. Finally getting a chance to catch up on some videos as work has settled down for a bit. Goos seeing you again. Take care, Billy-

      Thanks for comments! Looks like the Black Crowes IS United Pressing Plant. I'll be sure to watch out for that in the future. Love all those early Dolly albums, but this one is exceptional.

    Even as low as $6 is still just a waste of $6 if you’re not that into it & you only play it once or twice, it’s just a case of he who dies with the most vinyl wins, I just don’t see the point

    Hi, and great finds, especially for $6! As far as Steven Wilson goes he has become one of my favorite artists over the last few years, and it started with The Raven That Refused To Sing. It has a similar sound to, say, King Crimson, so if you like them you may like this. His moist recent albums are a little more poppy, so I'd suggest previewing them on youtube, spotify, etc first prior to purchasing.
