Handguns are a staple of video games; and in most modern shooters, there are a plethora to choose from. But there's one handgun that always seems to be a top choice no matter what game it appears in.
So, why is the FN Five Seven so good in so many games?
The crazy benefit of the Five SeveN in Payday 2 is actually that it penetrates ballistic shields as well, which is hilariously overpowered
Pretty good concealment for dodge builds too
@@brandonrivera1063 if you have silent assassin you can take out camera operators without risk of detection
Ammo pickup:
Another crazy thing is that the P90 (which uses the same caliber ammunition) doesn't penetrate shields (at least not without body expertise)
@@VivoCubino it's more of a utility, the ammo pickup is enough for how much you get out of it
NATO: Design and manufacture a new platform and calibre with x, y and z capabilities.
Manufacturer: it has cost us millions in R&D but here you go.
NATO: Nah, we'll just carry on with 9mm.
This happens so often 😂
In the case of the US rifle program they realized slapping a scope or red dot on a gun suddenly makes the user have aimbot.
at some point they'll probably just end up using some SLAP-adjacent ammo instead of trying to make a whole new caliber just to get an emergency use firearm to penetrate good armor
@tiagobelo4965 Funny enough they're using Browning 50 cal MGs in Ukraine loaded with special munitions that are like miniature HEAT shells. Making something like that for smaller calibers sounds incredibly expensive (and probably violates the Geneva convention somehow since you're not supposed to use exploding bullets on people) but the results would obviously be devastating on hit.
Shooting the five seven is the equivalent of throwing ur wallet at a person
For some reason every crackhead in Los Sueños has a 5.7 or a makarov
Its either that or they decided to be Dirty Harry and rock a magnum
Don’t forget the fang bangers having calicos and m76s!
rly there 1 grand plus ammo
I think a lot of the weapons in trafficking comes from the Russian Mob in Ready or Not?
I guess I have my calling, since I have both. Lol
* obligatory "Buff against poor people" comment *
With the 30 round mag. Thanks Badger
I’m so proud to be a Belgian just because of this gun. Unfortunately its caliber is (quite ironically) banned in Belgium
I am not hugely into guns... playing RoN had me learn more. I always loved the p90, and also the five seven and FAL. I was shocked when I found out they are all from the same manufacturer! FN is so awesome😂
@ some of the most famous and popular guns are from FN Herstal. The FN 2000, SCAR family, Minimi (M249 in US service), MAG (M240 in US service)
@@Ranyick Don't forget the Hi-Power and the Browning A5 "Light-Twelve". Also the FN Reflex is great, and the FNX-45.
The modern day Ahoy is back. I paused another video that dropped just to watch this first because I knew it would keep me more interested.
Because in real life ammo for this gun is to damn costly
It ain't that expensive lmao, you can get AAC (PSA's ammo company) ammo for like 50 cents a round.
It doesn't exist
Robert-that’s still relatively expensive. People that shoot 9mm are regularly spending 50-60% of that, per round. That’s twice the training. Yea, it’s more accessible than it used to be. But that doesn’t make it affordable.

Reallistically speaking, the Five Seven / Punisher would be considered the best choice for Leon in RE4 considering he faces multiple enemies at once, so the 20 rnd mags would be really useful and their armors usually consist of wooden shields, medieval armor and later in the game, cold war era (maybe) armor in the island.
The Silver Ghost / H&K Mark 23 would also be a top contender if it actually was chambered in 45 ACP like the real one.
I bought my Five-seveN entirely because of Splinter Cell. lol
EDIT: Also, I actually think the Five-seveN makes perfect sense for a guy like Sam Fisher. Subsonic 5.7 wouldn’t be armor piercing, but that’s not the only benefit for the 5.7 cartridge. As you mentioned, the 5.7 is low recoil (thus allowing for a lighter handgun) and high capacity (thus allowing for more ammo to be carried). Another benefit is the ammo itself is also lighter. That means a deniable ops agent like Sam operating alone behind enemy lines can carry a lot of ammunition in a relatively small and lightweight package. It doesn’t do much damage, but in the more realistic early games, you generally used the pistol to shoot out lights or headshot a single opponent rather than using it for direct combat. Theoretically, some of the .22 rimfire rounds have the same benefits, but 5.7 is a centerfire cartridge that’s more reliable.
This was definitely my sidearm of choice back in the 2000's playing C.S and then later in RON but switched to a Beretta 92 because I liked the sights.
HK also came up with a round to penetrate body armour, 4.6x30mm, but they lost.
He mentioned 4.6mm aswell
MP7 using 4.6 has seen more service with NATO special forces units than the P90 has. They just lost in the overall competition, but the end user is the ultimate decision maker at a certain level.
Should mention HK also made a complimentary pistol using the same ammo as the MP7 - the UCP - but never progressed beyond prototypes
MAN THIS IS MY FAVORITE PISTOL! If a game doesn't have one, I won't play it. Thanks for uploading! You made my day!
7.62x25- “Look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power”
Did 5.7 ever killed a hostage, hostage taker, and your buddy cop with one round? Didn't think so.
I am greatly appreciative of the music choice in this video.
Both the Five SeveN pistol and PS90 PCC are significantly less appealing to the civilian market in America due largely to the NFA and ammunition cost compared to 9mm. If we had access to the 10-in full auto P90 and accompanying AP rounds, it would be practical in more situations and may be preferable to the AR-15 in many indoor situations.
A pistol that fires AP round is more than enough for me to fall in love with this gun.
*The most unique thing about the Five SeveN is how forgettable it is.*
*Anytime someone mentions it i'm like "Oh yeah....that exists."*
Seeing those Battlefield clips throws me back
In Ghost Recon Wildlands it was the only pistol that could shoot through and kill multiple enemies with a single bullet. I really liked that. It was disappointing that they didn't carry that characteristic to Breakpoint.
The gov't contract that FN entered where they submitted the P90 and Five-Seven along with their 5.7x28mm is the same contract that H&K entered with the MP7 and the 4.6x30. I just find it so funny that the rules were VERY clear: submit a cartridge, a PDW, and a handgun. And H&K effectively said "We knew the rules, we just chose not to follow them. And fuck you, everyone wants an MP7 now so we still win either way!"
mp7 had the UCP.
@ holy shit I’ve never heard of the UCP. What the hell? Learn something new everyday! Thank you for enlightening me
The fiveseven was my go-to for a long time back when I still played Phantom Forces. Unfortunately it's not in any of the games I play these days, but it's always had a special place
Im a Mk 23 kinda guy, or even a good old M1911 depending on the day. I've also grown quite a fondness for the newer P320.
However, the sheer cool factor and innovation of the Five-seveN is undeniable, and it's in my top five without a doubt.
There was a ruger 57 that came out like year before last, I think it was like $600. But for how expensive the ammo is, you might as well splurge for the real thing from FN lol
It’s Sam Fisher’s iconic pistol but damn does it perform well in Resident Evil 4.
This gun feels so good in Ready or Not.
My first gun was a Five-seveN, mostly because of how unique it is and it's appearances in Counter-Strike and Battlefield. Shooting the 5.7 is really cool, but I was not at all a fan of the ergonomics of the pistol. The sights were also subpar for an $1100 pistol. I sold it for a Deagle but I still have a custom 5.7 PDW build, and the Smith & Wesson M&P5.7 pistol is on my wish list. With better ergonomics, sights, a better trigger, and a $700 price tag, it seems like the perfect sidearm for my PDW.
Can we get a video on the GM6 Lynx? It was hailed as the gun killing the Barrett 50cal, for being lighter, less recoil etc. But almost noone adapted it at the end.
I'd like to see research on why nobody adopted it. My guess? M4 syndrome, or "we already have something thats good enough and less expensive"
2025 FN five seven
(Now with waffle shaped red dot sight)
when i play ready or not, 5,7 was the intent choice when i saw it in weapon menu, got good ammo compacity and hits well, And in my opinion looks more attractive when women
Civilian use only is the new Ahoy
You didn’t had to pull up straight with that intro.. 🔥
i need a Civilian Use Only hoodie rn
Fantastic work!
Imagine this bad boi shooting full auto with muzzlebreak. 🤤
If I went to Choose between I like High capacity pistol or Bigger bullet. I would pick the pistol that fire pick up bigger bullets or fire armor piercing
bro is not killing killa with a five seven i swear to god
I personally do not like the aesthetics of the Five-Seven but I can't deny that it is a fascinating weapon.
A pistol that shoots such a mighty caliber, its referred to as "more reliable 22 magnum"
5.7 x 28 is the best caliber for penetrating Jaffa armor.
Finnaly a new episode perfect for eating
Splinter Cell gaming
9:55 I disagree greatly with this statement. In the majority of games Ive played, the Five Seven is typically a mid tier to good choice as a handgun. Not the best. Most games end up having the Glock 18 and Desert Eagle be the best. While the Five Seven is usually good, it's usually never the best. There are exceptions such as Payday 2 and others that use the guns armor piercing round as a gameplay mechanic, but those are few and far between.
This thing was my go to sidearm in Payday2
ah yes my favourite game
"escape from tarkoh"
The 1911 is on top, whenever I see the glock or five-seven I think "oh, it's those uglies in another game..."
W vid! Keep making these man
How many chances there were that I was just seeing another video about the five-seven and find this just right after
It's funny this video came out the same day I'm going to pick up my Five seveN LOL
A non-game factor but hurt me as airsoft player: the safety!!!
Hell yeah the FN 57🎉
Idk if the 5.7 shot through a buddy's FiveSeveN was super spicy or something but that thing did not recoil 40% less than any 9mm I've shot
Sam don't give a shit about armor penatration because all his shots are so accurate, they go between armor.
expected a deagle or magnum or even a glock for milsims but never the fiveseven lol
what were the games shown in some of the background footage? specifically the third person games
I know for sure one was Ghost Recon Breakpoint
7.62 Tokarev is goated
Can we do the beretta a2 on ready or not please
I fell in love with this gun in black ops 2, probably the weakest pistol in that game but it had no recoil and a lot of ammo
And if you had a nice trigger finger you'd have a crazy ROF.
Gotta love the fucking five seven
I don't believe this was the intention, but the superiority of the 5.7 over the 4.6 is not as great as this video seemingly implies. From the NAAG report (supplied from Henry Chan of 9 Hole Reviews), the 4.6 and 5.7 were stated as "performed quite similarly", with the only real difference being 4.6 was better at armour penetration and 5.7 had better terminal ballistics
Fort 28 is a very good handgun
I disagree with you. While its plain the most popular gun for gamers to use within games would 100% be the Glock, however the 5.7 is definitely more effective
I got 20 blue tips in the ruger
What is the point of normal bad pistol calibers when pdw rounds are smaller, faster and better ballistic capability?🤔
It feels like 5.7 would be the future - higher capacity, armor piercing capabilities, lower recoil - but other than cost the main drawback is how little energy is delivered to the target. Police and military are typically trained to shoot for the body, rather than the head (at least initially), and the small diameter often leaves a lot of effect on target to be desired. Police and Military with access to the MP7 have been quoted saying that you basically must get a CNS or head shot with the cartridge to stop a threat. Larger diameter and less “efficient” cartridges like 9mm more often stop a threat without a headshot, and of course are cheaper and more accessible.
In a military context, the main point of a handgun is so that officers don't have to lug around a rifle to be armed in a combat zone. 9mm is perfectly fine for that.
Civilians, at least in the US, can't have armor piercing pistol ammo. So in that context you're paying a significant premium for a somewhat dubious benefit.
The Splinter Cell footage comes from which game in the series, I don't recognize it.
EDIT : Splinter Cell Blacklist, Thanks !
Splinter Cell Blacklist
@@TheKa7ana Thanks !
Splinter Cell Blacklist. Decent game, but it's quite broken for some people on PC. I managed to finish it a couple years ago not much issue.
That tarkov gameplay was painful to watch.
La mata-policías 🗣
Ofc germany rejected the 5 7 becouse they wanted to get a load of money by selling 4.6 of their own production cammon practise by germans
Meanwhile in Battlefield Hardline it's the worst gun in the game 😂
What a weird way to say Desert Eagle.
