When it was announced Judy was returning, I thought they were setting her up to be the new Dewey. I was quite disappointed by her death or not surviving her attack a la Dewey in Scream ‘96
It was underwhelming and frankly pointless if they weren't going to expand her backstory other than giving her a kid. Make Wes Hicks her and Dewey's son that shid after the original murders. If we had to lose Dewey, Wes and/or Judy should have survived. Some of those kills felt like they were done for the thrill vs being logical.
Judy's death (nearly but maybe was on par) was as heartbreaking as Deweys death. If Dewey hadn't died I'd say her death was the heaviest. Because its Judy. Its Daylight. Running to her son Wes. the whole thing aaah

I have a lot of respect for a main character that we were able to hang on to for 4 whole movies and a good chunk of part 5 even after being stabbed multiple times throughout the franchise. He said he had been stabbed 9 times and I'd say that's almost as many times Tara was stabbed all in one movie and ended up staying alive. She was a pin cushion by the end of it which is what Ghostface said.

Wes’s line in that school scene is actually ‘my mom DOESN’T want to cause a panic’, which he said in response to Mindy saying ‘the press still isn’t saying Ghostface’. So Judy was actually trying to not make the town panic.
My hot take aside, the not so good evolution of her character and whatnot made me more annoyed. But it'll never be more annoying than Sheriff Baker in the current Halloween timeline who is more than likely dying for his very own incompetence and neglect. Like curse you horror writers. Deliberately playing with my feelings 🤧
I love Judy seeing the lemon squares and then the letter saying love mom.....so grilling heartbreaking.....after a long time of years these writers did great bringing back Sidney and Judy.....BUTTTTTT.......THEY BOTH DESERVED MORE SCREEN TIME!!!!!! and Judy deserved to live Dewey's death was sad too yeah he was in all the screams I understand his time to go but Judy.......so damn sad they killed her off!!!!!! And still not happy with Dewey's either!!!!! Knowing Judy lived through 4 was great but then 5 came and I was pissed about her death!!!!!!
So that's why it took a little long for Ghostface to show up before killing Wes, Amber and Richie where getting change into and unchanged out of their Ghostface costumes.

I disagree completely Judy is responsible for her own death she was thinking like a mother instead of thinking like a cop. She told Wes to take a shower before she left to pick up their sushi order. Richie or Amber called Judy and taunted her referencing Psycho implying that they were within reach of Wes to kill him then when she arrived at her home she rushed to the front door. As well as announced her location instead of carefully checking the area for suspects and worst of all she didn't even wear a bulletproof vest she was the easiest kill in the whole movie.

That she would be smart and check the perimeter first for any shady suspects. Not rush toward the front door yelling like a crazy person. She might as well have said, "i'm here killer an easy target for you!".
