Today we'll travel to a school in Australia that's literally filled with Apple products... It's run by Adrian, president of the Australian Computer Museum, and it's quite simply the largest in box Apple collection in the world! He has every powerbook, every iMac, every PowerPC and every Intel, even posters and several old Apple products I've never even heard of... so buckle up because this tour is a fun one!

In February 2021 I sold a Power Mac G4 with original box on ebay to a buyer in Australia. Now I know who that buyer was after doing a little research on the username. Glad that it went to a good cause.

@@alexanderfoster3628 @gefthetalkingmongoose it's not a unique challenge to Apple - think of the Qantas museum, which has a very different focus than the airline, different needs and different funding. They each need to exist with their own support and neither can make the business case to support the other, actually. It's very weird when you first get told this, since you're like, "shouldn't they automatically be BFFs?" but as soon as you dig into the business details, it's more and more obvious this is two different worlds.

Apple used to have a collection housed in Infinite Loop 4, but donated it to Stanford University shortly after Steve returned.
A company called MacPaw actually is opening one called MacPaw Space. The problem is it’s in Ukraine.
Speaking of packaging- We recently bought a new MacBook Air M1 at Bestbuy (unfortunately it wasn't $400) for my wife...it came directly from Apple however. I realized Apple even designed the cardboard shipping box. When you opened the shipping box, as you opened the flap, the MacBook box would mechanically eject by about 1/2" to 1" to present the boxed MacBook to you. I think my iPhone 13 Pro shipping box did something similar back then. I kind of felt bad throwing away the shipping box because of how elaborate it was. Maybe do an entire episode on just packaging and shipping boxes one day.
I work at bestbuy, when they come into our store sometimes they’re in that packaging (very non descriptive) so we’re all like “which MacBook will this be??!!!!” lol it’s kinda a fun game. Really cool packaging though
Even the apple trade in boxes are super elegantly designed
You never throw away your packaging in case you ever resell it. I believe every box serial number matches the phone, or laptop.

I usually dislike large collection of products like this, I think of them as kind of a consumeristic hoard of some sense, but I can't help but appreciate this guy's enthusiasm and care towards his collection.

This video made me realize I needed something in my life I’ve never even considered before: Mint-condition Apple posters! Or, really any technology company’s posters (like Samsung, Sony, HTC, etc). Gonna have to start checking eBay because I never knew I needed that (and I’m sure you can get many of the less well-loved brands for very cheap). Looking at this guy’s poster collection was actually more interesting to me than the actual products! I would frame and hang them all throughout my house if I were him! It may ruin the value but it looks like he has more than enough to spare! I could spend an entire day in that place, I swear! Thanks Luke!

Thats great but there are a lot of really bad products there as well as good ones. Today's mac lineup is not too bad, unless you wanna upgrade and then you cant. I have a 2019 mac pro and thats a work of art. The M1/2 seem pretty good but I have just started using one (M1 pro) , no problems yet.
Not even Luke knew half of the products apple made
What it was years ago was not peak, it was that Iphone catapulted apple not one single of this products and made Steve Jobs and icon, not one this products are on par with iphone
I have a collection of some 300 vintage computers (not Apple specific), and I feel bad about how much room it takes and that I can't really enjoy every piece because there's just too much. But buying a school to house my gear.. lol.. I am simultaneously in awe and terrified of having a need to do that. Great video!

Love it! I have a handful of sealed Mac products and vintage hardware including Newtons but it is absolutely nothing like this, and those posters are a real treat to see. Big iPod fan so those are cool to see! Thanks for doing this great video. Good to see the Homer app, too!

Outstanding! I had no idea something like this existed in my own country (albeit the other side of it). Luke should move there for a year (at least) to create content!
The g4 quicksilvers were just awesome new. They look crazy today but back then they were so far beyond what other products in any domain looked like.

This was a major walk down memory lane. I’ve been using Apple since I was born because of my dad. Going to the Apple Store was always a fun time so seeing these posters and products is super rad

My secondary school had 2010 iMacs and paired them with the Mighty Mouse. To be honest, it was one of the best mice Apple had ever made.
I have an inbox apple extended keyboard and there first work group server. I also have a tape of john scully when he first became president of apple in 1985 Ive got a real tape of it.

I was working in an Apple reseller when the first iMac was released - I forget how much stuff people don't realise want when on with Apple before titanium and Intel and the era of Tim Apple.

I remember when I was 9 or 10 and getting obsessed with apple, I thought "when I get to heaven, I bet it's a big warehouse with every Apple computer ever made."
Turns out this guy is living in my heaven.
This is history. I bet even Apple doesn't have collection of their classic Apple and Mac hardware or their old posters. That original box probably is worth more than the actual content of the box!!!
Apple have archived every detail of every product, they can remake any of them with their most advanced ERP system in seconds
I really hope that building has a halon fire supression system or something like that. It would be sad to lose all of it to a fire.
