If is just how you are, I believe. You never complained after you were sent here, following the war.” I can’t tell where this strength comes from but it is strength all the same. Resignation? A lack of self worth? Or perhaps something more positive like hope? But the most important question is… do they even know? Nobody knows how they’d respond to being treated like a piece of trash unless they’ve seen it… and even then the context may change that. That’s why even though I violently lashed out at comparatively minor treatment, the question of “could I handle this situation? is one I cannot answer, especially if I tried comparing myself to Listener-San. Not when I’d have to be stupid to think that my precedented reactions would end with anything but my death. I would leave this off with something like “What about you? Do you think you could do this?” but, to put it simply, I wouldn’t be inclined believe you. Regardless of if the answer is “probably/yes” or “doubtfully/no” we both know the only true sight of oneself in a specific high-pressure situation… is hindsight.
I am liking this series so far, i just hope! the guy(listener) is not one of those pathetic submissive pet type servants, and is instead proud, strong, and kind even as a slave. It would be pretty cool if the servant is actually a skilled strong warrior but quits and doesn't want to fight anymore even when others are bullying/abusing him, and would only pick up his sword again if someone he truly cares for is in danger!

If she wishes to press the matter, i will begin sleeping in the stables with the horses, work outside, and refuse to ever set foot in her manor again...] (drifts off to sleep)
