oh, I like Athens very much...Under Akropolis, is Plaka, the most beautiyful place for fun and joy...

The train station is new. I don't recall it being there in 1992. The graffiti has improved since then (more colorful, like LA or NYC). There's more English than I remember--a lot more. Athens does have some of the narrowest streets I remember. Also, trying to get one's bearings by trying to see the Acropolis, the Pynx, or Mount Lycabettus is next to impossible; there are no open spaces and all of the buildings are at least 6 stories high. I had to use a map, compass, and my lousy Ancient Greek to get me around. I stayed at the Hotel Plaka; nice view of the Acropolis/Parthenon, and walking distance of the Agora. What I don't see are the wild dogs (in packs). Yes, the graffiti has gone upscale. Did you all import some taggers from LA? Syntagma Square looks the same.
The only thing missing was the snow. It snowed on Christmas 1991. It also snowed up in the hills on Crete--people were driving up to the hills just to pile snow on their hoods and driving back down.

Subway was built for the 2004 Athens Olympics and has expanded since then, there's also a modern tramway. Most Greeks under the age of 40 are now fluent in English. The area around the Acropolis has been paved in a non destructive way, so there is no issues in terms of enjoying the view and taking pictures...etc.., you can use a cable car to get to Mount Lycabettus .Athens is pretty easy to get around with clear directions or you can use google maps. The Athens dog pandemic have been gone since the early 2000's, the city pretty much picked up all the dog strays and euthanized them also new laws have been added for pets including mandatory neutering and severe animal abuse penalties, there is still a lot of cats but most are non feral cuties and have owners but they move around the city freely. More than 50% of the graffiti has been cleaned but a lot more remains, you will see a great number of graffiti murals that are usually commissioned by business owners. Plaka hotel is now a 3 star hotel and could upgrade any moment, everything has been renovated and looks amazing. There was a winter snow storm in Athens in 2022 it was hell on earth since the city didn't have the resources to take care of so much snow plus no one had winter tires, so you can only imagine what was happening.

Anafiotika is not in the centre of Athens it’s located in the Plaka district northeast side of the Acropolis. Syntagma is the centre of Athens.

Syntagma has been the centre as per Google since 1843 and anafiotika were built in 1840's when the immigrants came to build the Palace for Otto.If you lived in the 1840's and new the centre then i apologise in advance.. content creators should be accountable for the information they give out to people😀
