I have a kindergartener and 2nd grader this year too! It’s so helpful hearing other moms’ curriculum choices. Thanks for taking the time to share what you’re using this year! We use My Father’s World for the bulk of our curriculum but vary in math and spelling. I highly recommend All About Spelling if you haven’t already looked into it. We used “Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons” for kindergarten reading but I was feeling a little stuck on what should be next and AAS was very helpful in solidifying what she’d just learned. “The Three R’s” author, Ruth Beechick, has a great section on the components of reading (Step 5) with a recommended list of activities to do to achieve fluency. We’ve really enjoyed My Father’s World’s Language Arts books as they cover all the things you mentioned: parts of speech, comprehension, etc. And it’s a great way to introduce poetry, art, dictation, narration… the lessons are simple enough that I can sit all my kids together and assign the work according to their individual ability. Excited for your upcoming school year! It’s nice to have a long break and actually look forward to a new semester.

I love your choices. We used Handwriting Without Tears when my kids were little. Enjoyed watching!

We do all about reading also. I did level 4, which is the last level. Many people skip it. I think it’s important. It teaches a lot of sounds not taught in the other levels. As well as teaching words that have roots in foreign languages which is super helpful

Love hearing about your homeschooling! I was homeschooled and am doing it with my kids. FYI I never finished my books at home or later when I went to school. So no worries!

I started following you after finding out I was pregnant with identical twin girls over 5 years ago and your videos were so helpful! Now that we are also homeschooling, I am still enjoying your content and finding it just as helpful! Funny enough, we are also doing AAR and MWC but a few years behind your girls! It’s reassuring to hear from another homeschool mom how much they love those programs because like you said, I’m always curious how the other curriculums are teaching the information. Thanks, Kendra! 💕

Check out Generations curriculum! It’s all based around the BIBLE all of it and they help kids learn how to learn through life and how it all connects back to God. We use CM Philosophy and a gentle feast but when I found this I had to get the history and reading. Their math looks great but it’s still coming out. We use math u see and some of life of Fred so we would switch if we weren’t already solidified. But wanted to share with you just in case you want some Christian stuff. It’s a homeschooling family who started the ministry. It’s a beautiful testimony. It also goes well with our living books. We use all about reading also. Love it!

The science amazes me so much that we are using it as a devotional in morning time. It almost made me cry haha

Great job on the sourdough starter. How did the cookies come out? I've made the sourdough blueberry muffins from farmhouse on Boone and they are amazing. 😋

Ah yes you’re still using AAR and MWC like us. ❤My girl is right in line with your girls. We are actually finishing up AAR level 2. I am also wondering if we should make a switch for language arts. Can’t wait to see what you decide! I’m also interested in how you and Owen like pre-reading as I have a toddler son who wants to do everything big sister is. He knows first letter sounds for almost all 26 letters 🧐
Ps… are you doing any additional subjects? This is where I struggle deciding since I’m so happy with AAR and MWC. 😂
