- A look back at some great finishes by this former England captain, who was one of the most clinical finishers in the game. 'Billy Whizz' as he was nicknamed was explosive in both attack and defence, he scored 28 Tries in 51 appearances for England.

Recommend his autobiography. He went through Hell growing up. My favourite player of the game.
My son and I had the privilege to meet Mr Robinson at a camp run by him.He was dedicated and professional. Thanks Jason for your professional feedback at Fylde )
Wilkinson also there by any chance?
I agree re Greenwood and Dawson was also instrumental. But Billy Whizz was just … from another world
Beautiful to watch. That England side of 2001 - 2003 was absolute class!
A genius ....... lightening pace ,instinctive positioning and a genuine guy .
I realise the video's about Jason Robinson, but I'm not sure people remember just how awesome Will Greenwood was.
Pause at 0:20 - this type of attacking play by Greenwood was so typical. Looks like he's got all the time in the world, takes it right up to the line, sucks in 3, even 4, defenders and delivers a perfectly weighted scoring pass.
so true, mate.
Very very true
completely agree. one of my favourite players at this time
Couldn't agree more. Not spoken about it often enough. An absolute violation we haven't invited him into the England training fold.
We forget how good he was not just as a flier but as a stoic man. Much to aspire to ! Would someone please do a 30 minute Jason movie ? Cheers. Dan
A small man of great stature
Best fullback of all time absolute legend !
No chance.. Christian Cullen is head and shoulders above any other full back there's been, with JPR Williams next in line.. Billy Whizz would play one wing, and Jonah Lomu the other in a greatest world 15..
My all time backline:
9. Gregan
10. Carter
11. Lomu
12. Horan
13. O'Driscoll
14. Caucaunibuca
15. Robinson
Greenwood was so good, we talk about "best inside centre since Guscott" Greenwood was everything and then as good, may be not as silky but his unselfish distribution... he was one of the key men of the 2003 world cup. Genius.
Guscott wore 12 but generally played at outside centre. As opposed to Greenwood who wore 13 but generally played at inside centre!
The 2 together would have been an all-time great pairing. I think their skills complement eachother perfectly.
Both outside centres. Tindall and Carling were inside.
I once read a comment by a pundit that "Robinson was a weapon, you just hoped that as the teams run out onto the pitch, he was wearing the same colour top as you"
Steve Thompson had a wonderful step, and pace with it as well.
If Jason got the ball, 20 yards from the line, he was over.
Simple as that.
What would England give for a decent scrum half now!!
The close support tries would/ should be taken by almost anyone. Honestly JR had an acceleration and staccato decision making that was almost unique and took him through entire defences.
Was surprised not see his try against France in 2002, a much better example oh how special of a player Robinson was. But the quality from the footage was probably too bad.
Legend
Fine, but to not include his try against France in 2002 or any against Italy in 2004 is a bit silly.
This channel also posted a video dedicated purely to Robinson's performance against Italy in 2004 (he adds, eight years later)
And he finished his career playing rugby union after a successful career playing rugby league. Imagine if he had only played Union
ZERO show-boating!
Harry Ellis was class
This guy came to my school to see me and take picture
Well in uncal Jason
Seems to have scored most of his tries against Scotland. or maybe that shouldn't be that surprising :)
Ironic as his mother is Scottish and he qualified to play for them.
Music
I think TV commentary should be banned. This is so much more enjoyable to watch. Just the sounds of the players and the ref. So much more entertaining than having to tolerating Harrison and Barnes (to name the worst offenders) droning on.
thats why for the cricket, people in their droves turn off Sky Commentary (although I miss Mikey Holder, best voice in the world EVER) and turn on Test Match Special on Radio 5 Live Extra.
Jason was a genius, but a lot of tjese tries are a team effort.
Watson or Daly at fullback
Uudoi
This y mike brown shud sit on bench
not great examples of his sidestepping
Well in uncal Jason
