Swatting can be prevented by giving your local police department a heads up if you're a streamer. I've known a few streamers to do this and it's saved one of them, because of the heads up, the police department was able to track the phone call much faster and the swatter got in massive trouble. If you have any sort of acknowledgement from the community, pleaaaase, give your local police department a call and give them a heads up that someone might swat you in the future. It may possibly save your life and serve the swatter with the perfect parcel of justice.
Most of the time the victim knows it is a lure , but they come with literally maxed alt accounts and try to make you ''anti lure'' it ! i still dont get why people fall for it , just wanted to point that out ! :)

A lot of these scams require you to think you're smarter then the people who are scamming you and while it might be true sometimes you still don't know what kind of curveball you'll get tossed the best way to avoid being scammed is to rein in your greed and don't give these pieces of shit the time of day.

When I was at the RS3 duel arena, I would see bots spamming about scammers - you know, those ones walking around with the umbrellas? Well, on one occasion, I noticed one spammer saying to another spammer, “why are you still spamming about him? He already paid me.” After watching the spammers for a bit I realized it was a for-profit business, and not to benevolent after all. They would stop spamming the scammers names if they were paid, and the scammers would continue scamming. Emailed sir pugger about it but he never replied.
I love to chat with scammers from time to time, they really do try to scam in the most weird of ways, but always remember, you don't know them, they sure as hell won't pay too much for any item, so they probably will be scamming

Its crazy cause the dude screen shared his side and it was fixed to show a safe area. Everything down to a T.. all it would of took was me switching worlds to lose it. Only reason I went that far was because I was trying to figure out a way to anti, and just loot the goods. Which in theory I could have but it was all new to me and i caught on and left asap.

It's a bit misleading regarding the camelot one saying they do it by using a teletab so you run to the trade spot. People will think it's OK in other banks away from tab spots. There's clips there they are using the book lure, I know I lost 105m to it
I’m still fairly new to the OSRS community but I started playing last year but in my experience the best anti scam is so simple… ignore them Can’t be said for most situations but in general not engaging them seems to get them to leave you alone
Anti scamming is not quite how you think it is defined, I think. Anti scamming refers to the action of playing along with the scammer in hopes of tricking the scammer and profiting in some way. So technically, ignoring a scammer isn't anti scamming. However, ignoring scammers is always the best course of action in 99.9999% of cases :)

Had a scammer this week ask me for help to buy max limit of molten glass cause he was at limit then befriended me over the space of a week then tried to scam for tbow. Fun times
Similar happened to me yesterday. Was asked to buy this guy Pure essence, I did. He added me, we talked and what not. Then he asks me to join discord and try to snag these items under some guy outside west falador bank. Wasn't able to get all of the loot, so he suggests we try to find more. Well how convenient the second I go to the GE someone with the same telegrab scam comes up to me. Go back to fally, get animation stalled or tp trick bullshitted out of the bank and pkd for TBow. Hind sight is 20/20. Play on non-total level worlds = get harassed by bots Play on 2k worlds = get befriended by bought and hacked accounts all in the same ring. Game is just full of crooks. Could probably stop 90% of these lures by either removing high risk worlds and forcing everyone to go back to the wild, or just putting up a simple barrier at the edge of banks like at ferox enclave. Unfortunate.
One time scammer tried to do dark crab teleport scam on me while I was slaying. He logged out when he tried to trade me - and I was an Ironman. Didn't even read my name with helmet on.

I'm extremely cautious and never do anything.. I've only ever been scammed once and it was from a guy I was friends with for over 1yr. We would loan things to each other in trade since the loan spot was only for 1 item, then in Dec 2011, he deleted me and never gave me it back.. Was about 2b RS2 at the time. Since then, I'll never loan out anything more than 1m to anyone, lol.
oh my lord, played this game for almost 20 years and ive seen and been aware of many lures, but i just know better...this luring game is ever evolving, as soon as the general public get aware of some lure, some even darker ones pop up, just walk away from overfriendly people in osrs, real people never ask you for donation or for your time, they ask advice on how to play the game, comment about your username or your pet lol, what happened to zman is so fucking sneaky, maybe it couldve been prevented if he right clicked to trade.
Honestly, it all comes down to greedy people. I'm not talking about the scammers. I'm talking about the people who try to cut corners, buy gold, or take advantage of glitches. These people deserve to have consequences. Quit trying to have people do something for you. Quit trying to double coins. Don't accept a teleport you didn't ask for. These are all just so simple if you're not looking for the easiest way out, or an opportunity to get the most for the least.

Pretty sad to see OSRS has really become one of the worst communities. Botting.. scamming.. luring.. even real life threats, it's getting a bit out of hand and it makes me understand why Jagex initially did that almost total removal of trade. It damaged the population by alot but they were really doing everything they could to combat this insanity. I've played the game on and off since like 2003, I've only ever been scammed once and it was when I was like 12 years old a guy quickly swapping out a rune scimmy for a mithril one before I clicked accept lol. To anyone worried about being scammed/lured I would say this: It's really simple to completely avoid these people, first if anyone asks you to go anywhere that your character could be attacked, like a pvp world or the wilderness simply say no. Don't do trades with anybody that seems sketch, you can get everything from the GE anyways. Do those things and you'll be 100% fine.

The wealth isn't being transferred under a different IP, the scammer uses a remote access tool to control the victims screen.
Generally, rule number one, dont go to a pvp world with anyone unless you are going to do a pvp match with them that is fair for both.

Had a scammer this week ask me for help to buy max limit of molten glass cause he was at limit then befriended me over the space of a week then tried to scam for tbow. Fun times
Similar happened to me yesterday. Was asked to buy this guy Pure essence, I did. He added me, we talked and what not. Then he asks me to join discord and try to snag these items under some guy outside west falador bank. Wasn't able to get all of the loot, so he suggests we try to find more. Well how convenient the second I go to the GE someone with the same telegrab scam comes up to me.
Go back to fally, get animation stalled or tp trick bullshitted out of the bank and pkd for TBow. Hind sight is 20/20.
Play on non-total level worlds = get harassed by bots
Play on 2k worlds = get befriended by bought and hacked accounts all in the same ring. Game is just full of crooks. Could probably stop 90% of these lures by either removing high risk worlds and forcing everyone to go back to the wild, or just putting up a simple barrier at the edge of banks like at ferox enclave. Unfortunate.

Thank you for this video man. I lost 160m worth of items last month, and i still havent been able to recover from the lure. Its such a shit situation to be in to loose everything because of other peoples greed, and they take advantage of you. Hope more people dont fall for the shit i did

I feel you bro… I almost lost 50 mil last year falling for the dumbest wildy lure ever. Hopped the ditch to pick up a d scimmy on the ground, dude in full ahrims tried to freeze me but the entangle splashed. I escaped but felt bad afterwards thinking my hard earned gp could’ve been taken away by some degenerate just like that

i feel you bro lost 1.2b 6 months ago.. got scammed by a guy who i trusted to much.. he pretended to be my friend for like a month. I even did a lot of raids and everything with this guy. He called me for help in an anti lure and somehow I fell for it. I'd manage to get back to 600m bank for now but still haven't recovered.. hope these scammers get banned but i will never get my gp back. So people watch out there are scammers who are willing to put in a lot of effort to scam your tbow and other expensive items!

Wow I wish this video came out about 4 months ago when the dude you zoomed in on in the chat was the same acc that lured me for my tbow. Which I've gone back and ruined more of his potential scams after since then and now I've learned they've moved to lunar bank and are doing the same exact thing.
It's nice as a low level f2p player not many scammers have approached me in my time

Met a guy today that gave me 1m GP and a Bond didnt know what to think honestly so lucky now hes showing me the ropes of membership life and its made me love the game that much more bless the good guys in Rs teaching new guys honestly made me want to play it even more then i already do haha
I lost 1.2b to this scam and quit in July. They take you to banks that are small enough for you go easily click outside of while removing items in trade box

guy tried to lure me and after I figured it out i talked to him and he said he has 20-30 different lures that he can do and most people will fall for at least one of them
You can’t get scammed or lured if you don’t trade anymore drop your items or enter a pvp area
I'm extremely cautious and never do anything.. I've only ever been scammed once and it was from a guy I was friends with for over 1yr. We would loan things to each other in trade since the loan spot was only for 1 item, then in Dec 2011, he deleted me and never gave me it back.. Was about 2b RS2 at the time. Since then, I'll never loan out anything more than 1m to anyone, lol.

oh my lord, played this game for almost 20 years and ive seen and been aware of many lures, but i just know better...this luring game is ever evolving, as soon as the general public get aware of some lure, some even darker ones pop up, just walk away from overfriendly people in osrs, real people never ask you for donation or for your time, they ask advice on how to play the game, comment about your username or your pet lol,
what happened to zman is so fucking sneaky, maybe it couldve been prevented if he right clicked to trade.

Honestly, it all comes down to greedy people. I'm not talking about the scammers. I'm talking about the people who try to cut corners, buy gold, or take advantage of glitches. These people deserve to have consequences. Quit trying to have people do something for you. Quit trying to double coins. Don't accept a teleport you didn't ask for. These are all just so simple if you're not looking for the easiest way out, or an opportunity to get the most for the least.

I haven't been scammed in over 7+ years. Made an ultimate ironman and havent played the normal mode ever since.
I only play my HCIM so the chances of me getting scammed are close to zero.
the best way to avoid being lured is to not login to pvp worlds with your bank in your inv

Pretty sad to see OSRS has really become one of the worst communities. Botting.. scamming.. luring.. even real life threats, it's getting a bit out of hand and it makes me understand why Jagex initially did that almost total removal of trade. It damaged the population by alot but they were really doing everything they could to combat this insanity. I've played the game on and off since like 2003, I've only ever been scammed once and it was when I was like 12 years old a guy quickly swapping out a rune scimmy for a mithril one before I clicked accept lol.
To anyone worried about being scammed/lured I would say this: It's really simple to completely avoid these people, first if anyone asks you to go anywhere that your character could be attacked, like a pvp world or the wilderness simply say no. Don't do trades with anybody that seems sketch, you can get everything from the GE anyways. Do those things and you'll be 100% fine.
