I get this question in the comments: Why not use a running sinker trace? Answer: To me it is a definite no-go! The running sinker will only cause you to lose more fish...when that sinker is stuck even if you use a lighter sinker trace the fish won't be able to part the sinker line because the sinker line is running up your line as he swims away from you. If you sinker trace is fixed he can part it off and you are still able to get your fish out...using a fixed trace won't get you less bites at all..it works perfect! Hope this☝🏻 helps!
Hi Xander. i am about to invest in a Bluefish Special, what is the maximum weight i.e. sinker and bait you will cast on the Bluefish. I was warned that 3 ounce and small bait is maximum.
Hi depends on the length...the 13ft works best with a 4 oz and the 14ft works well with a 5oz both will be able to cast 5oz with ease but for both rods a 4oz is optimal whoever said you can only throw up to a 3 oz and a small bait, well thats not true!
On the distance i don't know man, i don't measure my cast, seeing that its a light rod, i reckon maybe 150m in fair conditions. With a bait reckon 120-130m maybe further if i clip my bait
Hi Xander, thank you very much for the reply, most appreciated. 120-150m is more than sufficient as i plan to have it as a light edible rod. The reason for asking is that if I need to throw a slightly bigger cob bait with a 3-4 ounce, whether the rod can handle it? Consider the aforementioned, and possible steenies and cob, would you suggest the 14 foot? When the surfs up and plenty side current I can use my Beastmaster 7-8 ounce. Again, thank you for the reply, and keep sending the videos. Kind regards, Pierre.
I try to explain why I use certain trace when I do a demo and not just do the demo. I want the viewers to understand why I do a trace or bait the way I do it so the can learn more, so they can actually understand how that trace works and then build knowledge from there.
It really does work Bru, and I'm from Durban we don't even have galjoen or brozies and all of those species's here. But lots of your tips and tricks can be used here in natal for our sandies honeycombs etc. As well as our stonebream bronze bream stumpies and those edibles. Again great content Bru.
Thank you so much, I really learnt a lot from this video and will definitely use your trace, when I catch a fish I'll be sure to let you know. Looking forward to more edible tips and tricks in your future videos. Again thanks a million 🙏
I want to go try for Galjoen here in the EC. Been fishing lots in Namibia, drove all the way there for Galjoen. Thanks for the info, will test it out someday hopefully soon.
Thank you Xander, that was well explained. I will definitely give it a try for the bronze bream season. I’m sure it will work the same for us here in KZN. Thank you. 🙏
Thanks Xander..... Going to put the dacron on my sinkers right now! Can't tell you how much I have packed, repacked and cleaned all my fishing gear in this lockdown😂
Hey mate watching from over in Oz. Always like to listen to different ideas and see how it could relate to my fishing. Noticed in the few videos of yours that I've watched the length of the butt to the reel seat on your rods is very short. We have rods like that in Australia but normally only use them with Alvey ( side cast ) reels, any reason for this selection? Our beaches are normally not too reefy but I will try that sinker line straight off the swivel next time I'm fishing rocky ground Cheers Toddy
Thanks man...well we have just always fished like that...its just way more comfortable to fight a fish with a shorter butt section as well as casting a bait out whilst wading neck deep...we only use longer butt sections when we are are throwing lures.
Hi man, hope you are all well,🤞why is the fg knot so good?.do you know porbeagle shark, they feed mostly in mid to top water ,in 10 to 20 meters .do you think I can get them with a fmj and some float.love the tickle talk👊👊
Thanks..the fg works like the japanese finger lock thats why it is so strong the more you pull it the tighter the knot holds. Yeah I've heard of it, i reckon maybe try a long biting trace with a big piece of float...i am sure that will work!
Thanks...yes the 5500 would also work..what i like about the 6500 is that i can fit it on the bluefish as well as on a 14ft. But the 5500 will work on the bluefish!👌🏻
Thanks for the awesome video Xander! I really benefited from it. Just a few questions: What is a leader used for? Why can't one just use the main line, attach it to swiwel etc? And thanks for the shorter and lighter sinker line tip, I'm from Gordon's bay, Cape town, and it's really rocky and windy here. I also appreciate all the effort you do, keep it up👍
Thanks man...the leader adds protection against the rocks as it is thicker than your mainline which makes it more abrasive resistant around rocks...and using a thicker mainline will result in more drag in the water and less distance on your cast. Hope it makes sense
@@zoolookfishing Aah thanks, it makes sense yes😁 but the knot that links the leader to the main line, that knot won't get stuck to the rod's rings when casting?
@@qeawonstevens6253 no ways it wont...but like i said in the video the mono leader knot doesnt go through my guides...eventhough it can go through easily
Weereens n puik video. Ek het besluit om hierdie jaar oor te skakel van adrenalin sirkels na bkk inline sirkels. Kon dit nog nie toets nie. Dink jy dit was die moeite werd.

halo was wondering how you make n trace for braid line do you use a braid leader to make a trace or do you use a mono leader to make the trace for braid line
Baie dankie!
To me it is a definite no-go!

How much 40lb does your spinfisher have and would you recommend the 7500 spinfisher for slightly bigger fish than kob?
There is about 500m of 40lbs on my 6500 maybe a bit more. Yes the 7500 would work for kob and bigger fish...its not a big bulky reel
