@abruima They don't specify what type of tango it is because it's a TV show. In the US that's what comes to mind when one says 'tango'. They do specify Argentine tango on the show, and you can go look that up. And before you try and say anything about the US, they do this in many countries. This is also done to the waltz, which originated in Vienna, but that style is called Viennese waltz to distinguish itself from what Viennese people would call English waltz.

Yes, there is differences types of tango (just like Rock, for example) But that doesnt mean that Bossa Nova is A TYPE of Rock, right? And, for other examples, Milonga, IS NOT tango, its another rhythm, like Blues and Jazz. Related, but not the same. So. If the rhythm is Swing, and i dance a Waltz, then i am an ignorant and the score should be 0. But, lets face it, an usual ignorance from EEUU.

Please, copy and search in youtube for this: Mario Marzan - Estilos de tango. It has subs. You will understand better what im saying.

Just because you happen to be from Argentina doesn't mean you know anything about tango, so stop pointing out that it's not. You're just wasting your time because NO ONE CARES. By the way, this is a TV show where pros teach celebs how to dance, so this isn't even an accurate portrayal of ballroom tango.
They are wonderful dancers. But i'm afraid this is NOT tango. They completely ignore the genuine tango technique and this is sth like a North-American tango which is finally closer to a waltz. Very interesting dancers but the music and the steps had nothing to do with tango!
i stopped watching this show because of the HORRIBLE music that does NOT match the dancing. Ugh...not only it doesn't match, it's sung by these unknown artists that butcher it up.
