10:10 This would probably be the most optimal way of using Falcon in Ultimate. Falcon's pressure is via aggressive microspacing, and consistent use of slingshotting would help bring Falcon to that point of near-perfection in Ultimate.
You are the first I've seen incorporate IDJ into this so far here. I play Ridley. This tech gives Ridley a down throw, slingshot IDJ back air confirm. Definitely going to have to practice this tech more.
I honestly thought Gimr's tech was gonna be something super competative, but its so simple yet insanely effective. All I ever do is spam smash attacks and specials and even I managed to get it semi-consistent the third time I tried it
I've been playin around with this and I've found some really cool combo uses to bring people hanging out on the ledge back towards centerstage(for platform extensions) with reversed slingshot up airs, its really promising.
yeah having access to a reversed aerial really brings out a new branch of combo tree I've seen void do a reversed dragdown upair (knock out then back in) so the combo can be continued into more platform combos instead of just turning into an edgeguard situation Or zzs getting an up air (knock in then out) into cross up (ss) nair into down b
M2 has to be the most buffed by this. He has all the things that enjoy this tech. Less exposed when facing forward, high air drift and initial dash speed, good midrange aerials and specials to space. It’s just perfect for him.
I still find it crazy how I came across this tech mid last year and didn't think twice about it! Tbh I was just messin' around tryna learn Zelda's wave bounce down special*. I don't know about anyone else but the slingshot reminds me a lot of the C-stick Macros for Ultimate because of the distance you can travel. I swear I'm experiencing the Mandela effect now because this all seems too familiar but isn't! At least GrimR stated that this tech was likely known by a few people but never taken advantage of. *(Long story short, I decided to take a short cut by cutting down the amount of buttons I'd have to press to get her to jump behind phantom. I was practicing it the way My Smash Corner describes it in their video but it was too hard so I switched up my controls a bit and was able to get it more often than before. (I'm still not very good at it though.) Through all of that mess I would end up missing the timing for inputting down special during Zelda's Instant Reverse Down Air and wound up hitting a slingshot N-Air!)
The last little comment made was 100% on the mark. Movement options only make the game better for the players. If you can't do it and that's why you're complaining, then why are you taking the game seriously enough to compete but not actually put in the effort to get good? Excuses make for weak players. Fatality is nice af at this game with a character that's supposed to be mediocre. He puts in the time and effort.
Big buff for Falcon? Sure. Except it also gives every other character on the roster even safer options that our Frame14 oos loses too, not to mention gets them out of range of footstool oos.
Kazuya might be the one that benefits the least from it bc of the 7 frame jump squat all the other characters have 3 frame so it's viable for the rest of the cast.
@@Maelthorn1337 wouldn't dropping shield to dash forward or falcon kick be slow though? I don't think that outweighs the increased shield pressure that characters get on Falcon anyway though

I mean, the ones I follow and respect seem to get it, but so many others who are by any measurement really strong players are just completely disregarding it. I'll just say the obvious here again because I'm angry: it's a FULLY BUFFERABLE MOMENTUM RETAINING AERIAL BACKSLIDE THAT DOESN'T TURN THE CHARACTER AROUND. You *always* gain max distance. Yes, you can do these things in other less consistent and more technically demanding ways, but why would you? @@boingk2585 Why would you risk going airborne (and thus being killed), when you could throw out a move with armor and get the same kind of shield pressure with no risk?
When smash ULT was first announced with its silhouette trailer I thought it was going to be like a street fighter type fighting game, imagine if they had added a button to hold and lock your facing direction to allow you to move backwards without turning around. Looking more possible.
Can someone please tell me the difference between the sling shot and just facing forward - dash back - turn around - jump - then hold back. When I tested both, they do the exact same thing, I've been doing this tech since the game came out. Has no one else been doing this?
You can buffer a slingshot when you land, it's a few frames quicker, and you don't need to cover any ground to reach full backwards momentum. This is how fatality was doing the dair-knee when the bot was DIing in. There isn't enough time to dash and turn around before hitstun is over in this scenario. Doing a turnaround jump is still going to be useful, but slingshotting is going to be much more effective in a lot of situations.
Slingshot is just that but bufferable and more consistent, since the diagonal angle eliminates the need to have near-perfect timing on the turnaround so you don't just dash back, and still keep full drift.
I don't really get this, was the final patch when this "new" slingshot tech was incorporated? The game's been out for awhile so is it just a mechanic that wasn't discovered for quite awhile or is it actually new?
What does he mean by bad turn around? You can avoid turn around by releasing the stick and then going the opposite direction. Or does he mean something else?

I know Fatality has talked about it a lot, but for some reason I’ve never heard the explanation: can someone tell me why Captain Falcon’s turn around is so bad? Is it just really slow?
Falcon's turnaround makes his hurtbox shift towards the enemy when you're trying to dash away, so by doing a turnaround, you actually end up closer to your opponent. Mewtwo has this problem but even worse because of his tail.
