This is not the first time I’ve said this, but Proxy is the one and only Aeldari content creator all of us Autachs should count our blessings twice to have on TH-cam.
They're in a strange place where pretty much all of them are A and S tier units they only see their true potential in a mixed army and perform less well as a result.
The best Aeldari content on TH-cam. Looking forward to giving this a listen. Do you think you might be able to give insights on some Drukhari units? I'm hoping to run a true Yinnari list with CWE+Harlies+DE. I'd love your insights into what I should branch out to and use.
Oh absolutely! Going to be my next series of videos on this channel (Ynnari and friends of course!). Looking forward to busting out a true Ynnari list as well!
Depending on how GW plans to handle the new "army books" we pry will not see anything for Harlequins until the eldar one comes around. I can seen then giving then their own detachment like they did with the space marines. But we will have to wait and see.
Thanks for the vidéo! Im starting my first harlequin army (and first army in general) and your tips are pure gold! If skyweavers are so effective why not choosing 3 units of 4 istead of 2 and having less troops? Would you consider having sw with Shuriken cannon and bolas to bait in the center? Really enjoy your videos!!
Nice man I’m glad you are enjoying them and thinking of starting Quins! They are really fun! The reason I don’t use units of 4 is because they have a really hard time maneuvering around and through ruins because of the mounted and fly keywords. I would definitely consider one unit of 4 but 3 is a bit too much considering the new fly rules and how difficult it is to move through ruins as you have to go up and over now in 10th. As far as the weapons I would definitely recommend the star bolas but the cannons are too easily accessible by other units like the starweavers imo
@@ProxyHammer1 thanks you! Love to join the clown family! I’m thinking of taking a farseer to generate 6 for the death jester and giving -1 to wound to the quins and maybe some corsairs or shadow spectres that can hand better terminators like units! And it would still be fluff ehehe
You do a good job of pointing out the strengths of Harlequins, but I would say from my experience that there are only a few factions they have a meaningful chance against. Death Guard, Ad Mech, Votann, Tau and Guard are just about doable, but one of the main issues you havent really addressed is the 10th meta. My local area has always been very heavy on Tyranid and Daemon monster mash lists, which is absolute kryptonite to Harlequins in 10th, but all the other factions are playing mass vehicle spam - I am seeing quite a few games with the absolute bare minimum of infantry. This just leaves you with very few tools to work with, and it makes it easy for your opponent to trade off against your skyweavers and still be left with a load of units you can only wound on 6s. When combined with the lack of OC you just dont have many ways to win against a very broad range of lists.
Monsters are very hard to deal with as Quins I agree, I know I mentioned it briefly but you are right the matchups into both nids and daemons is extremely difficult, especially Belakor… Vehicle spam is also tough but I’ve found that if they do not have a lot of indirect or towering and you use your speed plus things like phantasm you are able to deal with vehicles a bit better but it really depends as well on your opponents ability to target your haywire and shut it down, unfortunately the fusion pistols no longer pack the punch necessary 🫤 The primary objective game is also very abysmal as well which is a shame I thought troupes would at least get OC 2 with a TM
@@ProxyHammer1 I think it is clear they put the bare minimum effort in to make Quins technically playable as an independent faction without bothering to make them viable. What is really frustrating is what the whole design philosophy of 10th means for Quins. Equalling all weapon options and consolidating weapon profiles removes the ability to tailor troupes to be able to fulfil multiple roles. You can't handle high toughness opponents in melee, and you don't have viable shooting either. And on top of that they removed things that have been a staple of harlequin lore since their inception (flip belts, the harlequin's mask). It is a real shame, because while 10th has some good ideas in it, like OC, it has so many flaws and design decisions I really don't like that I now only play it to help inform the custom rules set we are building.
@@samhunter1205 Ya I definitely understand that, I think that’s the biggest miss for me in 10th is the lack of flexibility in certain units and this is especially apparent in Quins.
@@jonah6164 I am not sure. We may have a better idea after the first codexes drop - at the moment it is hard to say how much of the simplification and consolidation of weapon profiles is an overall design philosophy as opposed to just the constraints of limited time when writing the indexes. It is also quite possible that whatever the original intention, the approach is changed depending on how (un)popular the current situation is. Flip belts certainly shouldn't be a detachment ability though, they are a core piece of wargear worn by all harlequin infantry and should definitely be on the datasheets. I believe they have said they won't re-do the datacards, in which case I would say flip belts are gone this edition. That position doesn't really look tenable though given the absolute fucking mess they have made of half the factions, so I am hoping and half expecting that position to change.
Hey I should let you know that Shadowseer move is illegal. You cannot allocate wounds to a character that is being bodyguarded while it’s bodyguards are alive. The wounds must be allocated to the unit.
Yea I found that out the other day 🫤 was my bad I already let my opponents know and they laughed and told me they thought nothing of it because they planned to kill the whole unit anyways 😑 which they did…
Unfortunately, I don’t have time to play, and probably won’t get a game in until the end of the edition. Harlequins main elf tricksy play seems to be forcing battle shock tests to all for steeling objectives in our turn, and using overwatch to keep opposing units from moving onto objectives in their turn. It’s obviously not guaranteed, but it is a largely free tool that does not appear to be getting an discussion.
Interesting, how does Overwatch factor into the Quin playstyle? I feel like I’m missing something here although your point on denying secondary objs with voids was well said!
I dont think you can allocate wounds to a character. Bodyguard units need to take the wounds first
I thought you could as long as you continued to allocate until the model was dead? Whoops 😅 was doing that wrong if not lol 😆

How did you get four units of Troupes? These are not battleline units so the max you should be able to take is 3.
Troupe masters make them battleline
