    Guys well done!
    I appreciate the balls on the 2 of you building your own modern house by yourselves! People used to build their own homes all the time back when you had dung floors and a fe logs for walls but this is something else! Really guys you are awesome! will be waiting excitedly for every new video til the day you guys unlock the front door and walk over the threshold.
    greetings from South Africa!

    If you don't have one, you might want to acquire a 30x40 ft heavy duty tarp. As your project continues there will be stages and times you will really appreciate being able to cover the whole project. Congrats on getting the main sub-floor in!

    I've been following all the pictures on facebook, so I know what's coming on the videos and I'm excited to see them. I've been a subscriber of your channel since the beginning and the little bell is clicked so I get all the notifications. I'm an old geezer who can't physically do what you two can so I really enjoy watching you guys do your thing. I like you guys and wish you nothing but the best in your journeys.

    Jesse & Alyssa, just a fun fyi, the minimum number of screws required for a 36' X 36' floor is 4014...(97 for each full sheet...36 pcs. and 58 for each half sheet....9 pcs. Extras are also needed at the rim joists, aka the joist header) for it to be properly fastened AND also, that's the correct amount for lateral /diagonal bracing. Remember the screws brace as well as fasten! NOTE: that is a solid floor without a stairwell opening.
    But don't worry, many homes built by carpenters....but they're really just 'nail drivers'....have far less screws than you used and they've been standing for 40-50 years+. The concrete foundation/basement walls nearly negate the extra screws but they (and the bridging) would help keep the "I" joist from "laying down in a high wind".
    You did very well, excellent in fact!
    ....13

    You guys debated quite a bit about buy that combination frone end loader-backhoe. You made the best decision possible. You use that thing constantly for a million different things. It's saved you so much time and painful muscles and lower back ove the months, and will continue to be essential; until the entire build is done. It was the right decision, maybe the best tool decision you've made so far.

    What are your living plan for this winter? You could move your RV in the garage area, it's already insulates and draft proof on 3 sides plus the floor, you just have to close the door area and put a large tarp on the ceiling/floor to have a better place than what you have now. I guess you could hurry to finish the bathroom in the basement to have a bit more comfort. You could use half of the basement as living quarters and the rest as a winter shop.

    • @mikemiller756
      @mikemiller756 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      snakclub - They talked about that a while back, and there is enough room to move the RV into the garage. But will they? I have doubts. According to their recent Facebook posts....they have not even ordered their SIPs yet!!! Since they're custom made, I can only assume they will take a couple weeks to build and deliver. Then getting the SIPs on, the roof, and windows (also not ordered), I have serious, serious doubts they're actually going to be dried in before winter really hits.

      Naah Just determine the run and rise and set the tread rise (6-7 inches is nice for when you get older) and run (9.5-11.5 gives a solid tread) figure a 1" nose protrusion. Might take 10 minutes for that. With the total rise they have they will likely need a landing and L shaped stairs. 3 stringers for each leg. Might take a couple hours to cut the stringers and treads.

    Well I just hope you remember to get Bugaboo to sign off on his inspection, terrible when you get to the end and that's missing. I am impressed with this product and yes I can see how the alignment makes it a challenge but it was very good to see that Warmboard sent you the layout to go by. Makes it so much easier. And I agree, the tubing need to be closer to the end of the project when there is no danger of it being cut or nicked by something falling. Closer to the time when the finished floors are going down.
