Well done Jeremy. Great film. I remember a lot of these places. Subway used to be Greenfields gun shop. The bus station I remember well and the cafe there. Burns and Acres fruit and veg shop next to it. I speak to a lot of young people about two way traffic in the town and they find it hard to believe. The old pubs, The Flying Horse and the Monument. I enjoyed watching this very much, it brought back a lot of memories. Thank you 👍👋
I made it in the vid! Outside Barkers record store. Bloody hell I feel old! Kids today don't even know what vinyl is or will never get to listen to an LP on headphones inside a booth before buying it. Great video, sounds like Coltrane? Oh yeah, and the bus station! I still have dreams of it.
Bakers Record Shop! This was my first job, in the early 70's when I was 14! I think I got paid £2 for a full Saturday's work. After 18 months, I asked if I could have a raise, but the next week they gave me the sack because they "couldn't afford" me any more! Learned a lot, and heard so much great music right as it came out.
Fantastic work. Thank you.
Thanks for watching 👍
Canterbury was so much nicer in those days.
The pedestrian malls are a great improvement and I liked that the city wall is visible now that the road is a dual lane, dual carriageway.
I always find these videos interesting showing the old and present times. Great stuff
Thanks Mr Lang
Thank you for this amazing video. It made me quite tearful I wanted to go back in time to my younger days in Canterbury.
My dad alan was the manager of rediffusion back in the 70's.....I remember the shop well.
I can remember a lot of it, my sister has lived there a long time.

@@sarahskinner5447 ha! great story, not bad for a weekend job. But sucks that they sacked you.
First! Lovely compilation and I dig the music. What did you use for this visual confection? Sharing--but of course...over!
Thanks Half-life, I like your comments concerning the music.
@@JeremyVaughanPostcards Btw, what are the musical pieces you used in this? Thanks!
@@half-lifewife I used 2 tracks from the TH-cam Audio Library.
The Light Within - The Westerlies.mp3
