the little red riding hood scene was definitely disturbing on the first watch, but her blowing away her family somehow undercut the horror of the scene for me because it wasn’t the method i was expecting. every rewatch since, though, it works better for me and doesn’t take me out of the scene anymore. especially when Red says “what did you do to me?” at the end

emily played a scared 12 year old so well, i genuinely get a bit emotional at the way red says "i can fix it something's wrong i can fix it" and then the way she gets so angry after entering the house is just jabdnansbajkdbs i love it

I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW WELL BRENNAN SET UP THE BACKSTORY FOR LOU’S PINNOCHIO! Having all of the fathers in the village die a gruesome death once their name is spoken, so that Pinnochio has no other choice but to lie! Fucking brilliant!!!
8:55 i was so surprised Brennan gave Siobhan the other option even after she rolled, given that it’s the horror season. i thought “huh, maybe the aesthetics are harsh but Brennan will not go super hard on them”. then episode three happened
siobhan acting out this terrible description added to the horror and I LOVE IT
oh my god, right?! specifically the way she pulled out the vines felt so accurate and visceral, I loved it
as someone who’s very new to horror, the body horror stuff so far has been some of the scariest for me, and Siobhan really sold that scene with her acting
14:51 hearing ylfa say “everything’s normal” and then the clack of dice is so ominous
Brennan’s story for Siobhan is so incredible. The briars representing fear, her singing to soothe them so they let their guard down, the damage she endured while escaping. Knowing Brennan, I wouldn’t be surprised if Siobhan in real life was struggling with the comfortability of fear so he set up a way for her to work through it by proxy. Her body language suggests she was a little uncomfortable with the realization. Brennan is truly an intentional human being with great empathy and a master storyteller.
The thorns really set the tone for the season, top tier body horror
I like this season a lot bc all of the PCs have secrets. Brennan always does so good when his players have secrets~

god that was so good
It blows my mind that people are actually COMPLAINING that this season is too cinematic
you are so brave and resilient for being able to still make this after the devastation of episode three

I related way too much to the opening with sleeping beauty, a few days after watching this i found out i have asthma and was developing COPD, suddenly made sense lol
i don’t have COPD, but when i found out i have asthma it made so much of my life suddenly make sense. not being able to breathe is a bad time
I was telling my partner when watching that part that I understood bc it felt like when I had sinus surgery and then had to get the gauze out. It had been in my nose for like a week (so I couldn't breathe out my nose, which was the worst part tbh) while the blood formed around the gauze tubes and I swear when they ripped them out, my brain shut down and then rebooted in real time lol. I had been listening to this podcast called "Cabinet of Curiosities" and so the only thought my brain had during the gauze ripping out was "I'm...Aaron Mahnke. And this. Is Cabinet of Curiosities" as if it just went back to a save point lol. It was wild.
this season had so much potential !!! i literally forgot how actually horrific the start was until watching this. i love the goofs but i was really hoping for something scary the whole way through that only got scarier.

That opening scene was what immediately sold me into d20 after buying dropout for game changer
iwatched this for the first time on a plane ride not knowing what i was getting into and let me tell you it was much more difficult to fall asleep than usual

it's a series of like narrative albums about stories and stuff and it's really really really good
look for "once upon a time in space" and you'll see what i mean it's soo fucking good
I’ve literally been listening to that album and Into The Woods on repeat for the past three weeks, I’m back in my theater kid era and I blame Brennan

It's good horror but like it's kinda weak just imagining it idk. I'm a visceral person, I love gore and horror. This just doesn't do it for me.
