I appreciate the honesty of this dentist, thank you. After many years of cleaning and fillings, i was so confussed why this gum & bone issues continue(also adding many different dentists telling me different advice!!Some even saying, you can do nothing to stop it!!!). With this explanation(especially thinking about my family history and the description of it being an “autoimmune desease”, i now get it. In recent years i have slowed the DESEASE, with diet and almost complete elimination of Sugar(thank the lord for TH-cam and honest people offerring their expertise, like this gentleman.. thank you

I can confirm this, I went back to more sugar in the diet and my gum deseas accelerated again, and quickly, so back on strict diet.

I am sorry to hear about your gum disease issues. If there is anything we can do to help, please let us know. The good news is that gum disease does not easily occur around dental implants.

I have advanced pocket depts so I was told and may have a lot of pain and inflammation on my upper left side. I don’t have any good periodontist where I live but I was just thinking to just go for it and do implants

Hello Dr / thank you for your upload / I am going through a terrible stage in my life - as I was assaulted last year which resulted in my upper two front teeth removed - and the lower four front are not in great shape as they were also impacted / so I will have to get them removed most likely in the coming years / it has destroyed my smile and ability to vocalise like I used to - which has shattered my life - and sense of well being - I have been diagnosed with severe periodontitis- I am wondering do gums have to be completely pink to receive a form of treatment?? Or can it still be possibly not to get a lasting effective result while still having poor gum health / as I think it may also be hereditary as I cannot really remember ever having pink gums - well maybe only as an infant to adolescent but even then I am not sure if i had great gum health - it has been about 18 months since teeth were removed - and i am also worried about the length of time it has been and damage done by denture - which i have been wearing for about 10 -12 months .. i have a partial denture for my front two upper which attach by hooks on my canines . but i sincerely hope to get optimal treatment to bring back my bite force and ability to vocalise - do you think there will be a possible avenue / that is not on the extreme end of costing / thank you for your time - i hope to hear back from you soon

So why not just pull all your teeth before it gets too bad and get dentures while you still have the gums instead of paying $60,000 for implants

No teeth or implant will worsen bone loss. Those things keep gums stimulated without them the guns and ridges would disappear making wearing dentures impossible.

I’m curious about dental implants and autoimmune disease (psoriasis).
Could someone with this diagnosis take dental implants?

I believe so, but we would need to do some testing.

As someone who has had experienced daily migraines along with ears ringing. ..in addition to gum inflammation. I can say just one caused a lot of problems.

    • @SereneOrthodontics

I can see how it looks that way. But people with severe gum disease will end up losing all their teeth in addition to a lot of bone. That is when it is best to preserve bone by replacing all your teeth with implants. I know that is a tough pill to swallow. But if all the teeth are going to be lost, it is better to remove them before all the bone is gone also.

@@SereneOrthodontics I’m 73 years old, have 28 healthy and firmly embedded teeth in my mouth, keep up daily with a rigorous dental/gum hygiene program, and you are recommending that I have all my teeth pulled?! I have one missing upper second molar (and three wisdom teeth), for which I was seeking information about whether having osteoporosis and gum disease would affect the success of having a transplant for the second molar, and you recommend having all my teeth pulled? Stunning-and a different definition of “holistic” than I have!

@@annanoah4394 we only recommend removing teeth in the event of severe uncontrolled gum disease. In these cases people lose not only their teeth but all the jaw bone as well. I think we had a misunderstanding.
