It's amazing you don't need to do a colour study first. You just know what colours work together and you get it right every time. It's amazing!! You're also so good at teaching! ❤
Ur way of explaining art and taking things forward explaining us every small details while painting is very very helpful. Thanks for sharing and it's a very useful to beginnners .

I'm a watercolorist just now venturing into inktense watercolor pencils. I was excited to learn how you enable chalk pastels to stick by giving 'tooth' to the paper with liquitex. This tutorial gives me the confidence to try adding chalk pastels (sitting for years, untouched). Thanks!!!

I cut my blocks to fit a half pan! Two little pieces same length as pan fits snugly and perfectly! Put a magnet and labeled pan and added to my watercolor collection!
I am an acrylic painter and use many layers of color to get to the end. I really enjoy your lessons because I can apply them to my style. I use Nova paints on canvas and do mark making and details with watercolor pencils. I love all the color you use because I, also, use a tremendous amount of color in my pieces-I have one rule-No Brown. Thank you for all your work.
Amen!! I'm not a fan of brown either, but like Donna said as a reply I definitely stay away from black. Mixing our own browns and blacks is so much more interesting. I really loved reading your comment and I agree that the principles of layering color are the same. :)
Merry Christmas Susan 💕 I got your wishes a few hours ago and I'm really humbled after reading it. It was soulfelt. Love and regards to u and your family. Once again Merry Christmas to everyone in the monetcafe family.
I love the pictures. And your methods of paintings. I love the new ways you use the paints and pastels. That's a lot of information. And it's good information. Thank you so much. 💓
This was fantastic. I’m away from home until mid January but can’t wait to try this method. I’m in love with everything inktense and new to pastels. This looks so fun. You’re a fabulous instructor! Thanks so much. Happy holidays!
I just have to say, You look gorgeous in the beginning of the video, and at the end! Southern girl after my own heart. Painting snow scenes when it’s 76 degrees outside…. In your cut offs and Christmas sweater! I live in Atlanta. May God bless you and your lovely family in 2022, asI know He will! - Messy Mendy. 🙏🏻🖌☃️
Ha ha, thank you Mendy! We southern girls know how to be flexible! I threw on the sweater just to feel like I was in the Christmas spirit. We are finally getting some cooler weather though. Nice to meet you my southern sister!
Merry Christmas! Another fantastic tutorial. You are so blessed to share your work and talents with us. Thank you. You inspire me with every video. Have a fabulous 2022! Once again thank you!
Have you had the tazo Chai tea concentrate? I use milk, heat in microwave and top with whip cream. At least it's tea color so hopefully no accidentally dipping paint brush in your mug.
Definitely the best inktense tutorial video I have seen, thanks so much! I just ordered a 24 set 🤩. I wonder if you have ever tried to paint with gouache over one of those underpaintings…? 🤔 I’m curious if this medium could work similarly to casein for that purpose. Any thoughts on that?
beautiful painting! i love the idea of using clear gesso. Do u think i cud also do an acrylic underpainting on watercolour paper first,,, and then gesso it for pastel on top?
wanted to get the pencils but the blocks look more interesting and fun. we will see what I choose in the future. I have Oil Paints, Acrylics, Acrylic Inks, but no pastel or inktense.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I do have some inktense pencils and sticks that I haven't used very much but I'm definitely planning on having a mess around with them. Keep up the great work 👍
Very nice technique with the derwents. Thanks for the instruction. One note though: I wished for a pause in the voice over from time to time. Otherwise the instruction was very helpful.
Thanks Kay... and actually I recently made a lesson where I put the reference image in Photoshop to talk more about color. Lots have said it was helpful. Give me your thought on what you would like to see taught. Go about 14:15 into this video to see the Photoshop section: th-cam.com/video/9bvIdflMcNQ/w-d-xo.html
LOL that you mention two layers. I’ve had these blocks for a good 10 years and dug them out yesterday to tone watercolor paper black for your grasses tutorial (tiny paintings). I used the darkest, but it’s a deep indigo blue. Box is sitting right there and. I forgot about the 2nd layer! Duh.
I never use fixative at the end of a painting because it darkens the final piece. I keep my paintings in clear plastic bags for storage and for shipping. I have a video showing the process. th-cam.com/video/qe9RykkD9lI/w-d-xo.html
Hi, I would like to know if inktense blocks are lightfast if I had a UV fixative or varnish over my painting (bacause I would like to sell my art work) ? Thank you
Love that you posted this using Inktense. I was just playing with mine the other night on pastelmat. Have you ever used them on pastelmat and then apply the pastels directly on top or would you recommend to still use the the clear gesso?
OH yay!! I have yet to use them on pastelmat, but now I'm inspired. You wouldn't have to use the clear gesso since pastelmat is already prepared to receive pastel. Yippee..... so have fun and I might try that in the next few days.
Wish you a Merry Christmas 🎄 this is super fantastic drawing ✍️ and mind blowing sharing your creativity is very different and beautiful! Enjoyed watching it fully!

I could paint that box of pastels, its art in itself.
Thank you for your video. I have a box of these blocks. I have been using a water brush to use this.

You can use the pencils like the blocks f you prefer the pencils. Just add water to the tip of your pencils.
Very beautiful video, nice painting!😍😍
Just wonderful ill join you on patreon when my computer teacher shows me how.
That sounds great Mary! Until then just keep enjoying the free Content. There is plenty of video lessons available on my channel.

A Bob Ross action figure! Cool !
🙌🏻🙌🏻👏💜💜
This is very impressive. Would you use watercolor paint over under paintings?
Thanks so nice 💜🙌🏻
Thank you so much and have a blessed new year!
Why would you choose inktense blocks over watercolor? What’s the advantage? How are they different?
Inktense are more vibrant in color…. And when dry the color is permanent. Both have their advantages 👍🏻😊
Interesting

I bought the blocks after owning the pencils for a while. I had become tired of trying to pull color off the end of the pencil with a wet brush.
