A coworker of mine recently died from fungal pneumonia and watching these lectures has kind of helped me understand why it must have been so hard for her doctors to diagnose. If 90% + of pneumonias are caused by bacteria, even after they had administered antibiotics, maybe they thought that she had a resistant infection like Mrsa, and were trying stronger antibiotics until it was too late. She did have a growth which may have been a granuloma, but she was immunocompetent w/o any signs of chronic disease so I can understand why they missed it. Thanks for the lectures, for some reason learning makes me feel better!
