Before she passed away, she taught me how to make it, so the baton has been passed to me 😊 This cake is a staple in our family. The only difference between your recipe and hers is the icing is made with Coca Cola also and toasted pecans. It’s very delicious!! ❤🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
I make this cake all the time using a different recipe - but for my frosting I mix four cups of powdered sugar, one stick of melted salted butter, one tsp vanilla and drizzle coca cola into it until I get desired consistency (be sure to add the coca cola a VERY LITTLE at a time) and then if I have some I blend in some chopped pecans - delicious!! @@ilovemelodyjane

The reason why its called a double chocolate cake is because the coco powder plus the coca cola are both caffeine products. Have you ever made a chocolate cake using coffee to make the frosting? Its also delicious. Coffee and coco powder go together real good in making any chocolate deserts. My German grandfather loved cooking cakes. I miss his cooking but I'm sure glad I found your channel. I've known about this cake since childhood, but I've never understood how adding Coca Cola does anything other than add more sugar & the caramel color you get from it. Don't know if I can mention a restaurant name but ..the only place I've had CocaCola cake is at Cracker Barrel restaurants.. Definitely the best moist chocolate cake ever! ..but I need this recipe for home baking it myself! ❤

I have a recipe for a cherry chocolate cake that has cherry pie filling in the cake & the frosting is melted chocolate chips. Looks an awful lot like this cake Chef. Very rich and doesn't take much to satisfy a chocolate craving.

Anyway, gave me the warm feeling of childhood as so many of your recipes do ❤️. BTW I have heard of using any soda in this cake; Dr Pepper, Pepsi, Root Beer, and Cherry Coca-Cola.
