    It was easy for me to dissolve my ego and become the most enlightened person on earth, because of my humility.

      Your sayings are about 'positive' self! It's still got egoistic clings.
      Look at the sky, the stars, planets, etc are moving in order & harmony.
      Look at the water & wind, it moves effortlessly to facilitate and nurture life.
      Look at the trees, plants, etc they are growing everywhere without exception.
      Be like all these ....be like Nature!
      One's Nature is like all these!
      Exist and exist not!
      Doing, not doing anything and yet left nothing undone!
      Carefree!
      Nature is One's best Teacher!

      Seeing all the beauty of nature and realizing I am the pinnacle, the best, the funniest, the most handsome person, and probably the best fighter ever too, that is why dissolving my ego was so important; it's what makes me so much better than everyone else.

    It might be said that the alternative rock movement of last generation was a result of Zen Koans.
    We learn that we don't have to identify with everything that is real.
    We may live in the moment or live for the kingdom.
    May every day be my funeral again!

    Koan or kung-an originated from China. They were compiled by Chinese zen/chan masters of the 8th to 12th centuries.
    Bodhidharma brought chan/zen to China from India. It was later brought to Japan.

    Could anyone please explain to me the meaning behind the Persian comment? “I thought a Persian had a red beard, and now I know a Persian with a red beard” is it some cultural reference? I don’t really know anything about Persians.

    • @mohammadanwar6857
      @mohammadanwar6857 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think its indicative of the color of Persians beards sometimes being red. Hence the line "I though a Persian had a red beard" as a stereotype for Persians having red beards usually. The line "now i know a Persian with a red beard", is indicative of after receiving the slap, one's face turns red. It's not clear whether he had a red beard before, but now it's clear that he has a red beard after the slap.

    • @frombeyond5
      @frombeyond5 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I think the proverb of the persian red beard means that there is a difference between not knowing and knowing. He only heard that a persian had a red beard, but after meeting him now he knows that it is a truth. The persian here stands for the ego clinging to definite answers which are embodied in the same pattern of questions he keeps getting. I think that the fox/monk was reincarnated in the student's body to ask him the same question all over again. The question might differ, but the pattern stays the same: ego clinging to clear cut definitions.

    How can Zen help anyone as it is good for nothing.
    Zen has no purpose, for no one, and no one is in there.
    Things happening and to happen, all that is - is what it IS!
    Buddha Ji Gong famous koan "Why the Sun rises from the East?"
    It took SK Sum a few years to break thru' & realized 💥 its meaning.
    Later Ji Gong asked SK Sum "What is YOUR meaning of Zen?"
    SK Sum replied "The whole World is 1 single Sunset."

      Okay, so let me tell you quickly how it went. In india, we have a word called "Gyaana" which means wisdom. When Chinese came, they took it with them but it was hard for them to pronounce it. So, Gyaana became "Chaan". Then, after japanese chinese encounters, chaan came to Japan in the form of "Koan". Basically, all three are same- Gyaan, chaan, koan.. all of them loosely mean word of wisdom.

    • @boldCactuslad
      @boldCactuslad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ketantiwarik10 So then, some of it is from India, some of it is from China, and some of it is from Japan, even if we use the teachings of the Japanese and use bits of their language to find it. Interesting.
