I thought they were getting rid of all the grade crossings in New Hyde Park. And they should four-lane Nassau Boulevard at Merillon Avenue's LIRR station, and either two-lane or close (except maybe to pedestrians) the one at Denton Avenue there.

@ Yes, one lane each way. It should be four with two left turn lanes in each direction.

Those lanes look narrow, I hope it's just the camera. Great video, this will be the widest one completed when opened.

Those lanes are actually a perfectly acceptable size but we’re used to grossly wide lanes here in the US because GM were the ones who laid out the standards for road construction guidelines in the ‘40s and ‘50s.
Because of that corruption we are left with ridiculously wide roads that are only good for serving private vehicles, as opposed to other people like transit, cyclists, or pedestrians on sidewalks who want to use their space.
We should all want narrower lanes, because they have been shown to reduce reckless driving and when used correctly promote multi-modal transportation! Both of which are good things which the US is sorely lacking.

Because they had to make the sidewalks ADA compliant to fit motorized chairs and pedestrians and bikes and transgendered unicyclists

Sean Kaiser you try making that curve with a truck next to you. You probably live in Ohio

Estoy Gringo nah, Washington. But I’m studying urban planning in school. Everything’s possible with care and consideration except for semis, but that’s why there are specific truck routes planned throughout cities.
